Chapter 41 She's not important

He sighed. These were the questions he didn't want to answer.
“Love…” He planted a kiss on the top of her head. “She’s not important. Yes, she was my girlfriend. Was. We broke up a long time ago.”
"She must be beautiful and very elegant,” she continued. “You're dating girls like her now, huh. You must be someone big now.” Then she smiled.
He was confused. She seemed sad at first. He didn’t know if she was being jealous or insecure. Now it seemed like she was praising him.
“Let's not talk about Janice anymore. Okay? Let's just pay for what we bought.”
“Eron, don’t bother too much about me. You can still go on a date if you want. I'm fine. You don't have to take care of me. I won’t get upset or angry. You also have a life of your own,” she said as they were traveling to pick up Kulas.
“And I prefer to spend my time with you. I wasted my time dating different women. And even if you combined the time I spent with them, nothing beats the time I spent with you.”
What he said was true. That’s exactly how he feels. He wished he could say out loud that she was his life now.

“I WANT INFORMATION about her father’s location ASAP. The only clue he left before he disappeared was that he was on his way to Guimaras to work on his friend’s mango farm. Thank you!” Cameron just finished talking to the private investigator he hired to locate Love’s father.
Love was just trying to smile and be happy. Cameron knew she was still worried about her father. He knew it would be a big thing if the two finally met.
And he needed to meet Mang Baste before the two reunited. The old man knew who the real Mitos was. Maybe he would understand that he just pretended to be Mitos for Love’s sake. He needed a little bit more time before he could tell her the truth. When he was sure that she would be able to handle the pain of the news.
When he was ready to let her go.
His intercom rang. "Sir, your mother is here."
"Send her in." He stood up immediately when his Mama came in and greeted her with a kiss on the cheek.
"Good morning, Ma!"
“What is this that Janice was telling me that you were dating another woman? And that she is even blind!” his mother’s voice was already high-pitched.
“Take a seat first, Ma. Do you want coffee or tea?”
"Cameron, answer my question!" His mother now has a stern loob on her face. Nothing escaped when Janice was concerned.
"She is a friend that I am helping out, Ma."
He didn't want to explain anything to his Mom about Love. That's the reason why he brought her to Calatagan because even his condo unit was being fussed over by his mother, checking if he had a new girlfriend that he brought there.
“A friend that you are helping out with?” she squealed. His mother was losing her regal elegance at the moment. "And why do you have to let her stay in your resthouse in Batangas?"
Great! Now she even investigated that. Still investigating. Do they really see Love as such a threat? As if she was a gold digger.
He sat across from his mother and held her hand. “Ma, do you remember Mitos? He had asked me to care for her. That if something happens and he didn’t make it, he wanted me to take care of Love.
That’s what I am doing. ”
"But do you really have to adopt her?"
“You almost adopted Janice before too, right? She didn’t even need help. Love needs my help. What’s this? Don’t tell me you are being a snob.”
“Janice is the perfect woman for you. You know that I want someone like her to be your wife. While that blind woman might get ideas. You were helping her, but who knows if she had other interests in you. She may use your pity to make you love her…”
Love will beg?
Impossible. She wouldn’t even show others how much she was suffering. She was not the type who would use pity to get what she wants. No matter how difficult her situation was, no matter how much she wanted to cry, she would keep everything in and continued to be tough in facing her problems.
“Ma, your imagination is running wild. Love is different. She would never use her disability to take advantage of others.”
His mother stared at him. "So you like her."
"Yes," he replied immediately. “She’s a woman with a great personality. She may be blind but she’s remarkable. If you’ll only get to know her better… ”
She raised her hand and stood up. “I am not interested. I will let you continue helping her. Just don’t take this charity business seriously. You are not getting any younger. I prefer that you focus on finding the woman you will marry. Why don’t you and Janice date again? I’ll invite her for dinner next week after your father returns to Hong Kong. How about that?”
“Ma, Janice and I are over. And… ” He just dropped his hands. How would he tell his mother that he was old enough to know what he was doing? And if he does like Love, what’s wrong with that? She’s not a bad person.
Was it really a big deal that she has a disability?
His mother kissed him on the cheek. “I want what’s best for you, son. I want a woman who can present in front of other people. Someone you can be proud of. Don’t take it on me if I say I don’t like that Love for you.”
He just nodded so as not to have this argument anymore. “Don’t worry, Ma. She only sees me as her friend.
She wouldn’t fall in love with me.”
It was the real Mitos that she truly loved. And he knew that his time as a Mitos in her life was about to come to an end.
