“SIR CAMERON, the talking watch and cellphone for Miss Love have been delivered," Marvin said and placed in front of Cameron the things he ordered for Love. Cameron stopped the reports he was reading and inspected his orders. "How about that talking laptop?" “It will be delivered the next day. Just in time for your yacht dinner with Miss Love. I’ll personally check the preparation for your dinner to make sure everything is okay." Cameron leaned back in the swivel chair and imagined his upcoming dinner with Love. It would be a real date. It was gonna be just the two of them in the middle of the ocean. Kulas mentioned that Love never experienced going on a date. And he was certain she had never experienced such a romantic date with Mitos. He wanted that night to be memorable for her. And he was really excited and nervous. It was like his very first date. He never felt this nervous on his own first date. He was Cameron Duarte. He could easily please women without much effort. His presence was enough for a woman to be grateful for. But it was different with Love. He wanted to see her smile because her smiles were precious. She never demanded anything. She would probably accept anything thrown at her. But he was still a bit anxious that she might not be satisfied with what he prepared for tonight. She would leave soon, she knew. She had been insisting on going back to work. And she knew she must let him go. She was slowly removing his responsibilities as Mitos. He should be relieved. But why does he feel like still wanting to care for her? No matter how much he prepared for the day she would finally leave, there was this small voice telling him he wanted to stay by her side. He was even willing to pretend to be Mitos for the rest of his life just so he could take care of her. Weird. He had never wanted a woman to stay with him. Once he wanted out of a relationship, he was free to go. No woman’s cries or plead could stop him. But with Love, she wanted to go and he wanted her to stay. He was ready to break the rules and stay under someone else’s shadow just to be with this woman. He wasn't even worried. If it was with another woman, he surely would have been terrified by now and would be running as far away as possible. He must admit that she affected him drastically. "Thank you for helping me out," he said and shook Marvin’s hand. “Miss Love is a kind person, Sir. Are you going to tell her the truth now? That you’re not the real Mitos?” Cameron couldn’t answer for a few moments. “It is better that she does not know the truth. What’s the use of hurting her? She can just think that Mitos is in another country. Besides, Love already said that she wanted us to be just friends…I mean, her and Mitos.” Mang Baste, Love’s father, also suggested that. He already told him about Mitos’ current situation and he said that he doesn’t want his daughter to get hurt either. Cameron wasn’t sure if their decision was right or wrong. All they knew was that it would be good for Love. There will come a time that he will finally be able to tell her the truth, but not now. Not yet. What he wanted now was for her to forget all the bad things that happened in her life and let her enjoy everything now. That was the least he could do for not being able to bring her eyesight back. Janice came into his room just as Marvin went out. She immediately came to sit on his lap. “Hello, dear! I went shopping for our Phuket tour. We have all the things you need. We’re leaving tomorrow.” She caressed his lips. “You can’t say no. You didn’t come with us when we went to Hong Kong with your parents. This time, it's going to be just the two of us together.” “Janice…” She was about to kiss him when she turned away from her. "I’m busy. I don’t have time to leave my office.” She slowly stood away from him. "What's wrong with you?" She slapped his chest. “You were never like this before.” “Things change, Janice. I have a lot more important things to do. I can’t ditch my schedule just like that.” He gave her a sad smile. "Next time maybe." Janice’s expression darkened. “Next time? You don't have time for me but you have time for that blind woman?” He picked up the report he had been reading earlier. "Leave Love out of this." Her eyes narrowed when she saw the talking watch and cellphone that he would give to Love later. Janice grinned. “Great! You rejected the vacation I had prepared for us. But when it comes to that woman, you are wasting time and money.” “And you are also wasting your time with me,” he said gently. “Janice, I don’t want to hurt you. There are a lot of men out there. Men who are way better than me.” She looked at him with disbelief. “You are impossible, Cameron! I think you're crazy! Your Mom is right. You are blind. You are not just helping her out. You fancy yourself in love with him.” He gave her a stern look. The things she was accusing him of, was that really what’s happening with him? Was he in love with Lovellia that’s why he was no longer interested in other women? That’s why he was acting differently these days? Perhaps that was a logical answer. But how could he be sure of that? He has never experienced being in love. And he never once told a woman that he loves her. Janice pointed at him. “You are a first-rate bastard, Cameron! I don’t know what you saw in that woman. He can't even see you.” “Janice, don’t make this harder. We both know we don’t really love each other. We just enjoy each other’s company. If I'm in love with Love, it's none of your concern.” Pain flashed across Janice’s face and she grabbed Eron’s arm. “No, Cameron. Don’t be like this. You’re not in love with that blind woman. You just feel sorry for her. She’s hopeless. You will have nothing to do but to take care of her for the rest of your life. While I will take care of you. Don't waste your time with her. Get rid of her. I want to stay in your life.” He brushed away her hand and looked at her sharply. “She may be blind but she’s not hopeless. I don't feel sorry for him either. Love hates that. After all, she can work and take care of herself. But I know that she needs me. And I am not getting rid of her.” "Is that so?" She had a sarcastic smile on her face. “Then perhaps I should pity you. You are living in this hero complex. This is not you. Come on!” "Thank you for your concern," he said gently. “I’ll let Marvin accompany you to the lobby. And I apologize if I can’t come to Phuket with you.” He didn’t want to drive Janice away in this way. But everything needed to be cleared between them. It has nothing to do with Love now. He just wanted to straighten out the relationship he was going to have with the woman in his life. He doesn't want to change girlfriends anymore. Janice had never experienced being rejected before so her pride got hurt. They could never have a relationship like before. Like, they could go back together anytime and then break up again afterward. Janice seemed to want to say something but chose not to. "I will teach you a lesson you will never forget, Cameron." He suddenly stood up and grabbed her shoulder tightly. “Don’t you dare hurt Love. You don’t want to go against me, Janice. I will make your life a living hell.” Janice wasn't even shaken. She just laughed instead. “That would be fun. I won’t hurt that blind woman. That’s no fun. But I will make sure you will have a miserable life.” She kissed him on the lips. “Tata!" He followed her out of his room with his gaze, his hands clenched. He doesn’t know what Janice was planning, but he needed to protect Love no matter what happened.
