Chapter 14

Some thing are not meant to be
No matter how much we wish they were
-Letters To Gwen
He was taking a sip of the cup of his hot coffee that he ordered waiting for someone to came in.
“I'm here.” The lady looked at him happily and leaned in to kissed both sides of his cheeks.
“I'm sorry I'm late. I did all the things I need to do today.” She moved and waved the folders in her hands before she put it to the table.
Marshall made a gesture to the waiter before he came their way having an ice coffee already prepared, it's ready to be sip. Natasha smiled when she saw it. She propped her elbows on the table and placed her face between her hands.
“You're so sweet.” She showed her a finger heart. “My heart just melted.” She propped it to him. She was making murmurs I she stared at him before she lowered her head and stared at the wooden table. She looked down.
Marshall's look of shock was shown on his face as he stared at her. “What's wrong?” He was gentle.
“I'm sorry.” She puckered her lip and frowned at him. “I feel really sad.” She put her hand on her chest. Making sad expressions she stared at him. Before she puckered her lip once again, chewing it lightly she started to sip the drink.
“Cold coffee. While you have yours hot. It's like two opposing forces that came from the same thing but also different towards each other.” She chewed the straws before her eyes wandered around. “We can go to the mall after this.” She said.
“We came from the same womb, Natasha. Your word association truly made sense today.” He said plainly. His eyes went to the folders.
“So, how did it go for you?”
“It went well. The offer is too good. Too good that I can't still believe it's true. And it's happening, Marshall. It's happening.”
Marshall gave him a nod. His mouth moved and finally a smile was on his face. “And you'll be taking the first step to make your dreams your reality, my baby sister.”
She gave him her thumb, showed him that she approved of his choice of words. “I've worked hard for this.”
“I know. That's why we're doing all the things you wanted to do today.” He answered.
Natasha's armed linked, it warped around his arm. He started guiding the two of them as he started walking and Natasha followed. Her eyes were busy looking at the shops inside the mall. “I wanted to buy that handbag.” She pointed it it.
Marshall knew that. It's been glued on her mouth for days. “We'll buy that later.” He answered. “But first we'll get you what you need.”
She shrugged the dusappointing grunt but still she made the sound. “But that's what I need, brother.”
“Natasha.” He fired his commanding tone. It's firm yet still he didn't raise her voice at her. Natasha went silent after that before they head to the shoe department.
She leaned her head towards him. She then started puffing angry exhales through her nostrils. “She's there.” She said it gruffly.
Marshall removed his arms from being linked with his sisters and instead slid it around her to occupy her shoulders. “Why are so pressed about it? There's no need for that, baby.”
“She hurt you know.” She said the sarcasm thickly. “You were sad and I don't like seeing you like that. You were so heartbroken...”
Marshall did not let Natasha finished her sentence. He shot a glare at her before shushing her mouth with his finger. “I'll buy that handbag of yours. And we'll buy more of whatever bags you wanted in that store.” He made the deal to seal his sister's lip. He doesn't want her to make a scene. Natasha loves to say things without even thinking of its volumes. Her words sting. He knows his sister that much that he doesn't want her to do something especially that she's her.
Marshall stared the girl who was telling something to a customer, seeing her eyes towards them he tore his eyes and instead stared at her sister whose eyes squinted.
“You still have feelings.” She whispered leaning closer to his ears.
Marshall shot another firm look towards her. “Feelings aren't everything.”
She shrugged her shoulders at him. “Well, that's your excuse. I'll accept it as long I'll get my handbags.” She flashed him a sweet smile.
He ruffled her head, messing it a bit. “That's my sister. I thought that part of you left.”
She flashed another smile with her pearly white teeth showing to her brother in return before she pulled his hand towards the item that sparked her eyes with the interest.
He let her go. It was easy for her to shoved him away without explanations. He tried to beg for some but she did not gave her, not even one. When he think about it, he knows himself to well if only she gave her reasons he can do everything to make things work for them. He can find solutions. They can continue their life being each other's significant other but she choose to leave him alone in confusion. She left him thinking of all sorts of thing. She left him questioning what went wrong for her to break it off with him without even listening to the way he plead for an explanation. He loved her so much that whatever reasons she choose not to say back then will still be accepted.
Marshall felt his sister stilled and stood there, she was not moving herself to continue walking. He was about to ask her what's wrong when she turned her head and blinked a few times while staring at her with her big doll eyes.
“Can we buy the handbag first instead?” She said before her eyes went towards the woman. “You got distracted again when you saw her face. You were thinking deeply.”
Marshall choose not to give your a chuckle because he doesn't know how to call this behavior or his sister. Instead he smiled at her. “I think your dress is still be able to wait in here.” He said before wrapping his arm around her shoulders ignoring the stare the woman gave to him.
It already ended. He should stop now. Some times aren't just meant to be. No matter how much we wish they were.
