Painting Hearts with Hope
Moody Moody
Chapter 1
Today was the first time I went alone to campus after I decided to move to this campus. At first I felt that my life would change quite drastically. But, once I saw the world, it felt like nothing was different. I just miss some things that once existed in my memory. Now I have to decide all that and live peacefully as a real person. Arriving at the stop, I sat for a while to wait for the next bus. While waiting, I checked several messages that filled the home page of my social media page. I just found a lot of sayings written by them. This time I didn't expect much about anything pleasant. When the bus arrived, I slowly got into the bus and sat in the middle seat. The busy morning atmosphere makes me feel alive. This time I listened to music using earphones. A day full of joy. I saw several school children who looked cheerful on the street. They also seemed to be waiting for the bus they were going to take. The distance from my house to campus is quite far. Sometimes I feel bored. But now I have to get used to it. Previously I was a transfer student for two weeks. After that I became an ordinary student like them. In fact, they no longer feel strange when they meet me. Only, this time I came back after undergoing surgery. I'm afraid that the pain will come back. Even though I thought like that many times, this time I tried not to think about things like that. Arriving at the bus stop near campus, the battery dropped slowly along with the others. It turns out they also studied at the same campus as me. But I don't know them that well. I continued walking until I entered the gate. After that I saw a very familiar sight. Right now I just want to adjust to today and then go home. As soon as we got to class, the atmosphere began to change. The people here are very ambitious. When this morning's class started, they were very enthusiastic about following it. I'm just paying attention and while I'm here, I feel a little tired. My eyes started to get sleepy. I thought maybe this was due to the effects of the medicine I was taking. It feels really heavy. Suddenly I was called and had to answer questions. Luckily I can answer that question well. Instantly I felt relieved. This kind of thing doesn't usually happen and it actually surprised me. This morning's class ended so quickly. It doesn't feel like time passes easily. After this I was contemplating and suddenly someone called my name.
“Maya!”
“Oh, Hanna.”
"Hey, where have you been?"
“Ah, right. You don't know.”
"Don't tell me you didn't tell me on purpose? What actually happened? You're okay, right?"
"I'm fine. There was just a little problem at that time.”
"Even though I want to know what happened to you. Are you sure you don't want to tell me?”
"Ah, I don't think that's important."
"What are you saying? Which may not be important.”
"That's enough. Just forget it. We'd better talk about something else."
"Good grief. It turns out you really don't want to share your story, do you? Okay. I understand. This time I will pretend to understand.”
"Come on. Do not like that. I didn't mean to be secretive.”
Right now my vision feels blurry. I don't know why I suddenly feel like this. Immediately I started to feel uncomfortable. Some things are starting to look up. I feel that there is actually something strange with me lately. After I came home from the hospital, I thought everything would go back to normal. I certainly feel very happy about that. It's just that, I don't know why I suddenly feel uncomfortable. This time I tried to cover all this. I just hope for myself to be okay. It turns out that things didn't go so well. Even I was confused. Hanna continued to look at me quite amazed. I don't know why my mind was confused in an instant. I looked at the people in this class, they became clear slowly. When I felt uncomfortable, I immediately had time to hide other things. Hanna looked back at me as if she was paying attention. Apart from that, the atmosphere in this class doesn't usually look peaceful. I'm increasingly unsure of what I just saw. I always imagined there was something else that might have something to do with all this. Again, my thoughts are always like that. Not only now, I also thought that maybe now I have changed a lot. When I looked back at the world, it felt very different from before.
“Hey, I heard that next Sunday there will be a campus event. Are you coming along?” Hanna asked me.
"What is the event?"
“Oh, right. You don't know anything yet. Because I just came back today. OK, I'll tell you. Actually they agreed to celebrate the autumn festival.”
"What?"
“Before winter arrives, there will be many memories to be made. That's why everyone agreed to make this event. I also asked others if they were also planning to invite celebrities."
"Is it true?"
"Of course. I got the information from the committee directly. Why?"
"No. It is nothing."
“Hey Maya. Why is your face so gloomy? Are you having a problem?"
"There isn't any. You're just looking wrong. I'm fine."
“Ah, I think something makes you uncomfortable. Anyway, don't think too much about it. People may assume many things about you. It's just that you don't ever care. Trust me.”
"Wow, I didn't expect you to say something like this, friend."
"Then what should I say?"
"No. You better shut up," I said with a joking smile. Likewise, Hanna started laughing.
"You never change."
“That's good. I'd rather hear what you just said."
"What? Why is that?"
"Who knows. But I guess I feel like I'm myself. Without having to pretend to be anything. Unlucky. Why do I say this?”
I'm willing to bet a lot, because Hanna is quite a pleasant person, so when I say something strange I can only laugh. Now I see myself who hasn't seen the sight of people on campus for a long time. When I walk around in my free time, it still looks the same. It seems like I miss too many things that shouldn't be important. Besides, I feel like there's something strange about me. This annoying feeling of not knowing why keeps coming to me even now. At a glance I saw someone I knew. But I feel like I don't want to meet that person even for a long time.
'That person? There's no mistaking it,' I muttered to myself.
Now I walk slowly and it doesn't feel like it's already afternoon. Previously I only took one course and had no other schedule. Not long after that I intended to just go home. However, when I was about to go home, I suddenly remembered another thing. I feel like I have to go to that place now. At first I felt unsure until finally I actually went there. For a moment I saw the old me who was always free to do anything. I am completely myself. Without further delay, I immediately rushed to that place. Meanwhile, Hanna is now seen with other friends. They seemed excited to talk about many things. One of them with blonde hair then said something. Hanna quickly became annoyed because that person really went too far when he talked about other people. Not only that, Hanna immediately left them. This time Hanna was fed up with them and that's what happened. Friendship that can be said to be quite scary. After this, Hanna walked alone and not long after that she met another friend. This person then greeted Hanna quite well. Likewise with Hanna.
"Wow, where are you going?" Rima asked Hanna.
"I want to go home. Have you just arrived?"
"Yes. There's evening class today so I actually came at this hour.”
“Wow. You took that schedule apparently.”
"Correct. Oh yes, I want to confirm one important thing.”
"What's that?"
“I heard that Maya is back. Is it true?"
“News spreads easily, doesn't it?”
"So it's true?"
"Yes. That's right. Why?"
"Just asking. The thing is, there are several people talking about Maya. They linked it to quite a creeping conspiracy.”
"Good grief. What else this time? Why do they just go around making up stories?”
“Don't ask me. I'm just telling you. Apart from that, I don't know their reasons either."
Now it's right somewhere else. I walked while looking around in case I got lost. Turns out I wasn't in the wrong direction. I managed to find the place I wanted to go. That place was none other than a cake shop owned by one of my acquaintances when I was in the hospital. That person was also a patient at that time who was in the same room as me. I never thought that it turned out to be a very beautiful cake shop owner. As soon as I entered this place, the waiters in this shop greeted me well. My eyes were fixed on the collection of chocolate cookies in the display case. I then bought the cake.
"Wow, it turns out you really came here, Maya," said a woman in a soft voice and when I looked away, it turned out it was Elena.
“Oh, Elena. How are you?"
"I'm fine. The last time we met was at the hospital, right?”
"Yes. You are right. That was also the first time I got to know you.”
"You are right. Sit down. There are lots of empty seats here.”
"Okay."
"Are you home from campus?"
"Yes. I just came back from there. By the way you manage this place alone?”
"That's right."
"Great. How did you do it?”
“I just followed what my parents said at that time. After that I did it my way.”
"Amazing," I said while continuing to be stunned by the view of this shop.Download Novelah App
