Chapter 65: Destruction Lizo and Devon followed. And Gunner already knew that he’d be fighting with me. I saw no fright or alarmed gesture from him. He was more than willing to fight with me because of what I did to Linda and what I said. As expected, Lizo did not fail me and fought flawlessly. Devon may be experienced enough but he was usually driven by anger and a desire to win. He has always been rough. “Done,” I said after Lizo scratched his arm. I stood up and Gunner was already waiting for me. “Do you want me to shift?” I asked him. “Any form will do.” He said and shifted. I shifted and jumped away when he suddenly attacked. I used my forehead to push him back and it was my turn to attack. I tried to bite his leg, but he used his other foot to claw my head, so I turned to avoid it. ‘Does it hurt your ego?’ I asked him and he jumped to me. ‘You know I hate being played.’ I did not care where he was rooting. He must know his place and take the situation professionally. ‘I don’t care, you know she’s higher than you. You should know your place.’ ‘I hate it when you emphasize she’s higher than I am. It appears like you want to say that women are higher than men.’ That was what I hate about him, he always thought that women were lower than men. ‘Partly, yeah. Why not?’ I did a swift turn and clawed his face making him hiss in anger. ‘If you want to dominate that much you should involve my mate, you’re putting her in danger!’ I saw his move and I tried to stop it, but I was surprised by the strength he exerted. He successfully scratched my arm. ‘And what gunner, hide her behind your shoulder? Then freely touch other girls you meet? Who are you to claim her your when you only want to hold her neck and make her your slave? You are no king to bow!’ He stopped moving and shifted, he was standing straight looking at the ground. “What exactly do you want?” He asked unimpressed. “When will you learn to respect women?” Everyone was shocked when they heard it. “Done.” Lizo declared and everyone was dismissed immediately. He looked up at me with a grim expression. I did not care what he was thinking. “I am telling you, Gunner. Linda deserves no less. She isn’t a girl that you’d hide behind your shoulder, not a burden, and not a weakling. Not low as how you treat other women. She’s higher than you are.” I need to burst his ego. I need to prove him wrong that girls were a lot more than he perceive us. “Do you want to deserve her? Pursue her, marry her, and be the Beta.” They’re stronger together but there wasn’t a clear label since Gunner was a womanizer. “You think so low of me, Alpha. I knew that already; I know what to do. You have nothing to worry about, worry about yourself.” He aggressively said. I understand that I went so far. I turned my head and walked to leave. War was fast approaching; I could feel it. I need to fix every crack and threw everything in place before anything happens. “Alpha!” I did not bother to look back and walked to the conference room. “Alpha!” Quite persistent, I see. I got myself water and sat down. I heard the door open and I only looked at the glass I was holding. “Are you okay?” “Very transparent,” I spoke. “What are you saying?” I showed him the glass and looked at him. “This glass is transparent,” I smiled and looked at what he was holding. A medicine for wounds. “What do you need?” “I just thought that your wounds should be treated.” I chuckled and showed him the scratch. “For a scratch, seriously?” I touched it and the wounds rapidly healed. “You must have forgotten who I am,” I drank all the water and placed it down. I turned back to him and found none, then I felt a warm hand touch my neck. “I understand you think highly of yourself, we know you have weaknesses too. And it is not bad to rely on others sometimes.” He said and e cleaned the cut. “You aren’t hard to read, Lizo.” “You only see what I want you to see.” He rebutted and after he mend my wound he walked back to where he should be. “No matter how you show it, I have no interest in it.” “You are focused, I understand. I can wait.” He said and he turned his back. “Not forever. Do not hope for something from me, Lizo. You’ll meet your mate sooner or later.” I said and faced the window. Every soul of a werewolf has a bounded soul. “She died long ago.” I glanced at him; he was holding the doorknob but did not twist it to open. “Second chance mate will pop out of nowhere, believe me.” “I hope it’s you.” And he left without letting me answer. Impossible. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. “AHHHHHH!” I instantly opened my eyes when I heard a scream from a little boy. I instantly ran out and when I opened the door an explosion greeted me. Blackball flew from above and when landed on the ground. “Get down!” Someone pushed my head down. “BOOM!” Another ball flew so I immediately summoned my bow and arrow. I shoot it but it only explodes in the air. “Get them!” I shouted and ran to the woods. I followed its scent, and it brought me to a guy in a black cape. I heard another explosion, yet I seemed not to care about it. Looking at his back, his height, and his build, I think I knew him. Do I? “Who are you?” Why am I afraid to see his face? Why do I feel like this? He slowly turned to me; I first saw his pointed nose from the side view. Soon his jaw with a long mustache. He pulled his hood down and looked straight into my eyes. I couldn’t almost breathe when I saw his face. I think I knew him. Yet I could not recognize him. He slowly smirked and in a blink, he was gone. I turned back to the- I suddenly bumped into something hard. “Who are you?” His deadly voice seemed too familiar. He was making my heart go wild. “Let me go,” I ordered him. “I am asking you.” “I am ordering you to let me go!” I knew these lines! These were too familiar, the scene n and his face. I stepped back and looked at his face. I should know him. “I can’t smell your scent,” I whispered and he vanished with the air.
