Chapter 69: The Assembling We shouldn’t waste a second, I knew they were preparing too. This calm wind and fine day were enough signs for me. I leaned on the trunk and closed my eyes; I should assemble my army for this coming war. “I need a break, Lizo. Go and rest.” “So, you were pretending that you did not feel our presence back there?” I knew he would use that technique on me. “No, I could just smell your scent this close.” He was right behind me. “What do you need?” He was slowly turning into an annoying stalker. “I saw you ran in this direction; I thought you saw something suspicious.” “I just need to think,” I answered instantly. “Then think and I’ll guard you.” I sighed and refused to speak more. I closed my eyes and tried to rest. “I knew you were avoiding me to not give any false hope.” He suddenly spoke. “I know I should not hope, I know my limit. But can you let me stay by your side to protect you?” Hearing his words, I could barely recognize him, the Lizo I met was exactly opposite to the Lizo who had said those words. “I don’t need that.” He should know that. “I know you don’t. But I want to.” I did not want to burst his bubble and never responded. Until the sun above was striking hot to bear so, I decided to jump down. ‘Timor,’ I called him through our link. ‘Alpha.’ ‘Send a signal to the witches and ask Rina to see me.’ ‘Notify our allies to prepare,’ I told everyone. ‘After that see me in my office.’ I went straight to my office and waited for them. I knew they would not agree to attack now. And it would be dangerous to light a fire anytime soon. Yet we must move now…carefully. I nodded when Linda opened the door, and everyone followed and sat around the table. “How are you doing?” I asked when I sat on my chair. “We are doing fine, Alpha,” Linda responded. “As you are thinking, I think we should move now.” I did not need an intro to drag that topic. “But Alpha, you haven’t even met our allies,” Lizo said. “But I trust they have settled everything, Lizo. Do not underestimate them. And do not worry, I am not planning to attack blindly. We will send spies to gather more information-“ “And also, the information that you haven’t shared with us.” Devon suddenly cut me. “It was hidden for a reason, for now. You already know what you have to know. Leave the rest to me, it’ll just stress you out.” I instantly answered. “Alpha, I think we should know what you are keeping too. We could do something about it.” Linda said so I leaned back on my chair and crossed my arms. “Don’t you trust us?” Timor asked. So, I had no choice but to tell them. “In his pack clinic, in a special room near the dungeon, his son was in there. About almost a year old but in a ten-year-old body. Due to failed craft of a witch, it ended up like that. Before, he wanted me to undo the curse. I study how to undo the curse, but I learn that I’d die as a sacrifice.” I looked around and their interest was a little uncomfortable. “I was willing to do that, thinking I have nothing to lose. Then I learned he fooled me. He used my emotion to fool me. His pack belonged to my parents before, and you knew the rest.” I ended it as soon as I could. “Now, I am open to any suggestion for our first move.” ____ I did not know that I’d have this kind of efficient people before. While sitting in my office, I could receive a different report about their progress. Linda has traveled to the pack she had visited to notify them personally, Timor, and Gilo too. While I was reading Linda’s report about the pack's progress. About our food supply, security, and resistance. We had a good source of food since our people were good hunters and had rich forests. They plant too. While we had bad resistance, our people had poor fighting experience, only a few could fight. Our security was a little poor since we did not have a guarding system. We only kept it safe recently since my Deltas were sharper than I am. I have written the solutions to that matter and shifted to our war plan. I have sent witches to spy for me. Well trained and a good deceiver for my judgment. I needed more information about Venon, her dog became more aggressive than before after I strengthen his army. “They’re here, Alpha.” I looked to the omega that had been keeping me accompanied. I was too occupied with my thoughts. “We should greet them, I guess,” I mumbled and strengthened my clothes before walking out of my office. I waited for them at the entrance of our pack village, Linda was leading their troops and behind her was three Alpha from the south, while Gilo was with three Alpha too from the east. And Timor was with an Alpha, Rina, and Miradel. I had nothing to be surprised with, she had been wanting that position. I smiled perusing every inch of their faces as if I was telling them that never dare to lie about my face. “I must say welcome.” “Rumors were indeed true.” My smile fell when I saw a female Alpha speak with a mocking smile. I stared at her, waiting for her to continue. “You stood so full of yourself.” “Spoken by you, how interesting.” “And full of sarcasm,” an Alpha added. I turned to him and displayed my fake smile. “And I could smell displeasure about that. Do you mind, Alpha?” I asked him. He was older than I am but I would never back down from any remark. They must have forgotten they had just set their feet in my territory. He shook his head looking unamused. I did not like how they greeted me back. ‘Take care of them, Linda. They’re boiling my blood.’ I see no potential for a loyal ally.
