Chapter 74: My Reckless Action
At night I stealthily left our pack and vowed to be back before sunset. My destination was something they’d never expected. I did everything I could to sneak into his pack. Until I got into her laboratory.
“What are you doing?” I suddenly heard Dion’s voice, so I placed my ears against the wall. Their faint conversation pulled my interest.
“Making you stronger.” It was Venon.
“What is that?”
“Power. Don’t ask anymore. Just do as I say, you’ll win this war. Move now before they could fully prepare for the war. Strike while her army hasn’t been fully cooked.” Good. Move now, Dion. I don’t care. I turned to hide but someone covered my mouth and pulled me into a room. I knew that scent.
“What are you doing in here?” He whispered while trying to make sure no one was around and no one could hear us.
“Spying.”
“Recklessly? You should have sent spies.” Alpha Titus said.
“I haven’t received anything from them yet, so I went to investigate myself. I can do better. Finish your thing here and we’ll attack earlier than planned.” I said and snapped my finger. I went to his son’s room and saw he was still in the same situation. Good as dead.
I went sneaking into her laboratory when I saw her leave. In a huge glass tube, there was a little girl that has the same scent as Alpha Titus. She must be his daughter. I knew she could have installed surveillance thing in her lab to keep it safe, so I made myself invisible.
I heard her approaching again so I hid.
“Attack anytime soon as you assembled your army, bring her here alive but make sure she could not move anymore. We need her to cure your son and I need her blood to finish my project.” That was all I need to hear, and I think they already knew I was here when I heard the commotion outside. They both run out of the room so I broke the glass tube and caught the girl. I snapped my finger then I made it out of the house. I started running back to my pack.
In front of me, there was a black thing waiting for me. It was the caped man again. My lips twitched when I saw him. I knew he survived but he can never escape again.
‘You will not lose just me,’ Linda’s words resounded in my head. I turned the other way and ran as fast as I could. As expected, he followed so I flicked my wand to the trees around me. They moved to block him, but he was too fast.
The next thing I knew, I was running for my life again. A battalion was following me, so I changed my route. I placed her down and summoned my bow and arrow.
“Hand me your power, my little hunter,” I whispered and I released the arrow. It shined brightly that could blind them and I made my safe escape. I made my way to the pack and get there before the sunset.
“Where were you?” I thought it was Lizo but I saw Miradel with fuming anger.
“Out?” I answered and gave her the girl. “She needs a bath,” I said and went straight to my room.
“Prepare their rooms, they’re coming before sundown,” I told Linda.
“Who?” She confusedly asked.
“The Alpha’s.” I turned to Timor. “The black pearl.” He handed it to me.
“Rina,” I called them and they appeared after minutes passed. But Timor did not like what he saw. They were wearing something revealing. He instantly stormed to Rina and took his shirt off then put it on Rina.
“We have news for you.” Alpha Riva said, and I nodded.
“Save that for the meeting, go freshen up yourselves.” I went straight to my room and got my silver-laced arrow. The arrow was originally made by Tasio. I need more of this. After preparing those on my table and went to my mirror.
I touched my tummy and smiled. When I saw myself. “Are you ready my little fighter?” This is risky but what other choice do I have? “Please be safe. And let me finish this before coming out.” I put my hand down and faced whoever entered my room.
“That was totally absurd Zenith!”
“Who gave you the right to enter and barge like that, Miradel?” I asked h
“That was too reckless of you, Zenith. You could have been caught! You went to their base like nothing. When will you ever be careful?” I was shocked by her reaction. Since when she cared too much?
“I know, and I wasn’t caught. I’m here in complete shape. I did not lose my limbs yet.” And her eyes widen in anger.
“You should be very careful, especially now, you don’t only protect yourself but the child in your womb.” I smiled at her and put on my cape, gloves, and then bow.
“Worry yourself, Miradel.”
“What a hardheaded brat.” She mumbled as I walked past her to the conference room. Hard-headed? I know right. I held my stomach, ‘Don’t worry my baby you’ll be safe.’
When I got into the conference room everyone was already there, Alpha Titus, Alpha Riva, Alpha Kiel, Alpha Flyn, Rina, and Miradel-
“Where is the old man?” I asked when I could not find Alpha Bonor.
“Do you mean me?” And the old man entered the room.
“Yes, please have a seat,” I said and went to my seat too.
“Yeah, as if you did not bad mouth me.” He sat and crossed his arms.
“I did not,” I mumbled and looked at Alpha Riva.
“Please take over, Alpha Riva.” I settled myself.
“We learned that she was planning to formulate an immortality serum. She was gathering blood from witches and werewolves, combining its power. She wanted to keep her youth and ability to cure. She wanted your blood and any blood of half-blooded so it would be compatible with her. We heard that when witch’s blood can not be mixed with werewolf blood unless it was mixed with half blood like you. Your blood is compatible with both kinds of blood.” Alpha Riva said.
“We learned that she planned on returning to the human world and revealed our existence, witches, and werewolves with supporting evidence in her findings. Her tests, and even bring a werewolf and witch with her to prove that were true.” Rina said. This would risk the existence of our kind, not just me. She’d not just ruin me and my pack.
I turned to Alpha Titus.
“Ten pack will fight with them, and mad witches. Those who had lost their sanity.” I saw Miradels annoyance with the term he used.
“I brought your daughter with me, can I expect your full loyalty this time?”
“I never betrayed you, I just need to do that since my other allied pack joined them. I took that chance to rescue my daughter before the war.” He explained himself. “I warned you, didn’t I?”
“That’s all we need; we need to attack now before they could attack us.”
“Yes, because you triggered them last night.” Alpha Riva said.
“I did not jump into a pack of werewolves for nothing, Alpha Riva. Prepare your army and let’s proceed to our plan.” I said.
“What’s the sudden rash?” Alpha Riva blurted out. Everyone was looking at me. They have the same question in their head.
“Alpha, I do not want to interfere but you seemed not in yourself. We know somethings wrong.” Linda spoke. I glanced at Miradel but she was avoiding my eyes.
“My power is fading. Don’t you realize that I exert too much power lately? It’s the sign that this will fade soon.” I’m giving birth, but I could not tell them yet. “We need to finish this before I lose my power.”
“Are you pregnant?” Rina spoke nonchalantly. I forgot that she’s a witch too.
“Do I look pregnant? You all know that I lost my mate, my second chance mate. Do you expect me to have a third chance mate?” I hope that made sense.
“Are you dying?” Lizo asked.
“No, powerless, or even worse wolfless.” Lies too much lies. I hope that made sense.
