Doubts

Chapter 68: Doubts
He nodded and jumped off the window, I watched him leave but I was afraid. I would be needing a great fighter like him. I need him to lead his team. I have given them the task to gather rouges to join our pack as much as they could.
I needed to be true to my words, I could not stop him from leaving.
His family wanted him back.
I had dived back into my bed and let my drowse take over, I needed to regain my strength. when woke up it was already dark; my Beta and Gamma were ready to hunt with me.
“Ready?” I asked and Lizo gladly nodded. Linda was still in dilemma.
“Clean your thoughts as you step into the woods,” I warned them, I prepared a different technique for them, and this would drain them emotionally. “Prepare the for worst.”
I said and when they stepped into the barrier, they both fell to the ground. Before draining them emotionally, I’d drain them physically. “Walk,” I ordered them. Inside the barrier was enchanted, and their body would be heavier than usual.
Lizo managed to stand back and walk unaffected while Linda was still on the ground. “Stand up, Linda.”
She forcefully pulled herself up and we walked farther. I walked faster to leave them and when I escaped from their sight, I gave them an illusion. I invaded their heart and mind to find their nightmare and showed it.
I saw Linda instantly cry while standing, she was looking straight and tried to touch who was in front of her. Unfortunately, I did not know what they were seeing. Lizo was on verge of shifting. Furious and ready to fight.
“Your emotions, don’t let them turn you into someone isn’t you,” I spoke. They could hear me. I snapped my finger to change the scenery they were seeing.
“Hide,” they’d be hearing my words through someone they were seeing inside the illusion. Lizo ran as fast as he could while Linda was shaking her head, “I said to hide.” She cried and ran away.
I felt sorry for her but, I was there too. Crying like a baby. It may be hard for her but she needed it. Am I selfish in giving this training to her to fight with me in the war I started?
“Hide everything,” I said every step they needed to follow while they were running for their lives. I wanted them to realize that it was me who was talking. I wanted them to break the illusion and start trusting their instinct. I wanted to see who they would be in their survival mode, could they recognize me in that situation? Would they trust me at all costs?
I wanted them to find me in their heart despite the pain and trust me. “I will never leave your side,” I said when I saw they were stuck. I saw Linda vanish in the dark, leaving her scent but it ended there. She was nowhere to be found. She got it, she believed in my words, and I know she’d find her way back to me.
When I turned to where Lizo was hiding I could not find him anymore. They trusted my words even though it was not me they were seeing. They did not need to hunt; all they all need to do was find their way back to me.
It was my turn to run and hide. I hid how I taught them; they need to heighten their senses triple than usual. They need to find me. They’d find me through our connection, it was the only way. Their desire to find me, they’d figure it out themselves.
The dried leaf suddenly crashed so I swiftly moved from my hiding place and jumped to another hiding place. I closed my eyes and tried to feel their presence yet there was none, then I suddenly felt the unusual touch of the air against my arm, I knew something was approaching so I jumped up and hide again.
They had found me.
“Alpha,” I smiled when I heard Linda speak behind me. I turned to face her and met her serious gaze.
“Good job,” I said and Lizo appeared behind her.
“Great job to both of you, continue practicing and mastering it.
“Did you create that illusion?” Lizo asked, I knew what they saw was traumatic.
“I did that, but it was your head who created the scenario, I don’t have control over what you had seen.”
“Did you see it too?” She asked. I shook my head, “I was just watching you react to what you have seen.”
They both nodded so I signaled them to walk back.
“Alpha,” she spoke while they were walking behind me. I knew she wanted to ask something.
“Ask it out.”
“I wanted to know, why do we have to see that?” I took a breath before answering.
“To break your doubts, to cut your uncertainty, and to overpower your fear. You may notice that I seemed to torture you, Linda. From the battle, a few days ago and making you see what you fear the most. Look at yourself, what did it make you?” I did not need to look back to know she fell into deep thought.
“You have fully accepted your position, and everyone can feel that; you have heightened your senses and you earn the courage to do things your way. You were a servant for a long, like a leashed dog. You are not a servant anymore. You have a pack to lead.” I wanted her to realize that but I hope she’d not forget who she was.
“Why do I feel that you are preparing me for something more than being a beta.” I was taken aback when she said that; surprising but I eventually smiled, she had become sharper than before.
“I do,” she walked in front of me and faced me.
“What’s your plan?” A serious question that I knew had a deeper meaning.
“To win this war,” but I refused to entertain what she truly meant.
“You know what I mean, I mean after this war.” She said and I walked past her.
“There are words that should be left unsaid,” and stopped when the village came to view. “I hope this pack has a special space in your hearts, to find it worth risking,” I said and left them.
Instead of heading to my room, I turned to run into the woods, I knew someone would sneak into my room and invade my privacy. I jumped up on the tree and sat on its branch. I looked up, the night was over. Another day to survive. I looked down at my ring and play with it. I promise to break this after the war. Whatever was in here should stay here until the rain would be over.
The question was, was it the right decision?
