The Explosion

Chapter 71: The Explosion
“Should I lie that I did not know you knew?” I mean nothing, it just slipped from my tongue. That was too harsh, I think. Socializing wasn’t really my thing, that was why I need Linda.
“My Alpha meant; she knew you know.” Linda was trying to lessen my mistake.
“I apologize for that, but Venon grew up with humans and got here when she first shifted. She was a late bloomer she only shifted when she met her mate, Dion’s brother.” I answered.
“Is that all you knew?” He asked and I nodded.
“Unfortunately, yes,” I answered.
“You can’t fool me; you seem don’t drop all your cards at once.” He said and crossed his arms. “They had been kidnapping humans for experiments, she was trying to implant an inner wolf in a human.” He said which did not surprise me yet pulled my interest and confusion clouded into my head.
“Inner wolf is somewhat our second soul; no human machine can do that,” I spoke.
“That was when witches take part.” He said, as expected from him, he wasn’t just all talk.
“And her motives?” Alpha Riva asked. Compared to everyone here, she had the least involvement. She was only here to support a woman Alpha like me. That amused her somehow not wanting the grave waiting for her. I felt bad but I need her.
“We don’t know.”
“She was not harming witches and humans but werewolves too. She removed the inner wolf of a werewolf and transfer to a human for her that experi-what.” Alpha Bonor said. “I remember my daughter told me about Dion who hunts werewolves from other packs for that. She wanted to come home, but Dion locked her up.” I could feel his anger, how I wish I have a father like him too.
He’d not forgive me if he’d learned what I did.
“Countless of my pack member went missing lately, and the only suspicious pack was that pack so when I heard your Delta talk about him, I agreed to help.” Alpha Flynn said. I am starting to hate him; he was a little flirty when he talked.
Alpha Gado and Alpha Kiel stayed quiet while Miradel realized something, good for her. She was a leader too; this was something she should worry about.
“I know it is not smart to light a fire now, we might get overwhelmed by its fire. We need more information. And I am counting on you all for this. I honestly don’t know how to start.” I confessed.
“I have sent spies; I don’t think they’d make it. So I instructed them to just watch from afar.” I blinked when I felt something, I looked at my Deltas they felt it too.
“They’re here,” Lizo spoke.
“They’d find my spies that easy.” I sighed, “as expected.” I eyed Devon.
“Can you take care of them?” He stood up and went out. I faced the Alphas again, but they were looking at me weirdly.
“Is it wise to send him alone?” Alpha Kiel asked.
“His team can take care of it.” I was so sure of that. None of my other Deltas followed. They knew Devon rather handle it alone.
“Back to the matter. My spies did not make it.” I said and Miradel’s eyes widen.
“Were the spies you mean were my people who came here yesterday?” I nodded.
“You just threw them heartlessly to the pack of werewolves knowing how dangerous they were.” He exclaimed teary-eyed. I could now see she somehow deserve the position; she just has a big head.
“None died, Miradel. I am not an idiot to lose an army. They’re injured maybe but safe.” I said and she calmed down as I clarified it.
“We need to get into his pack,” Alpha Riva said. And judging by her face, she has something to suggest. “I can manage.”
“Will you need an army to go with you?” I heard Gilo clear his throat when. He’s excited, I think.
“Your Beta would be a good help-“
“No!” Gunner suddenly snaps. I eyed him and he calmed himself. “I mean, she will not be safe to do that, she was a slave back in his pack. So…”
“I’m afraid Linda, can’t go.” She nodded and faced Rina.
“I can go with you,” Rina spoke before Alpha Riva could ask her. Timor paled when he heard that. He looked at me to ask for help so I looked at Rina.
“Are you sure?” I asked her.
“You can always summon me back and I can hold her with me if you want to see us anytime,” Rina said and it was indeed true.
‘Sorry,’ I told Timor.
“Okay, would you mind if I ask what’s your plan so we can back it up?” I asked Riva and she shook her head.
“It would be safer if we left it unspoken, Rina will send you heads up if we mess up.” She answered which left me nodding.
“We’ll monitor their activity from afar.” Kiel volunteered.
“I’ll prepare my pack for whatever we could help.” Alpha Gado said. His pack will stay out of the battleground. “I can only provide weaponry support.” I nodded.
“We’ll help monitor their activities.” Alpha Flynn said.
“I think that’s all we could do, for now, to widen the picture so we could prepare for it. You may do as you please since we still do not have a strong lead.” I said and they all agreed.
After the meeting, we prepared their rooms.
I was heading to the infirmary when I saw Alpha Kiel walking in my direction.
“Alpha Zenith,” he formally spoke.
“What can I help you with, Alpha Kiel?” He walked to the garden and looked at the flowers.
“Are we expecting a big war, not just a werewolf war?” I crossed my arms and looked at the flowers.
“I won’t be asking your help for petty revenge; I am trying to protect something greater than they think. I am afraid the answer is yes.” I answered.
“When did this start?”
“I don’t know, but I just realized it lately. When I traveled to Trigonia and saw her doings for a long time, the history of my family with his pack. When I step out of my room, this war has started long ago.” I heard him take a deep breath.
“What made you think you can win this, or it was you who should put this an end?”
“I do not think I could win this but I should. I do not know who would and could end this, but this war has tied a thread around my neck that no matter how I escape or leave, it kept pulling me back. Maybe because I am a half-witch, I was born to be in the middle of this war.” I glance at him.
“Did you hear about me using a bow and arrow instead of using a wand or fight in my wolf form?”
“Because you were raised by a werewolf hunter.” I nodded; he knew the answer.
“That’s right, a werewolf, a witch, and a hunter, that’s me. Tell me I should live my life in peace and leave this war to other.”
“Then my pack will support you.”
He faced me and offered his hand. “Do you promise to trust me and my pack until this war is over?” Interesting, what was he up to?
“In one thing.” I slowly said while staring straight into his eyes. I could not see any motive, suspicious or odd expression. He was just standing there as if we weren’t talking about something crucial. No tension at all.
“What is it?”
“Why do you want to win this war?” It was not easy to trust an Alpha like me, he must have deeper reason to risk his life and pack.
“My daughter, a half human- half werewolf, she abducted my daughter.”
