Chapter 75: The War Day One
Everyone was out there preparing for the war. I was looking at my pack, would this pack survive? Our women, children, and oldies were on their way to Alpha Gado’s pack. The army of witches has arrived.
“I want to ask you something, Miradel. How will I know that I am about to give birth?”
“Few days before you give birth, your scent will start to change, its presence will surface sometimes but it will hide again. They might hear its heartbeat sometimes and it would be gone in a minute.” She answered.
I do not have time to delay.
I nodded in response.
When I got to the ground, everyone was there. Linda came to me with her fierce face. “Do not kill him, please. Promise me. Alpha, promise me, you will let him live.” I nodded to assure her. But truly, I could not promise that. If he would try to harm me, I would be left with no choice but to end him.
“They’re coming, hide,” I said and they all ran into the woods. They’d attack our pack, but no one was left in there. They were mad running to the packed village but I could smell Dion’s presence from afar.
‘Light the fire, the rest stay hidden.’ I said through our link. The other pack has its style to survive. I turned and ran to their pack. It seemed so quiet. Smells trap. I stayed hidden and tried to feel their presence. Soon I felt there were auras of witches around.
That weak will never dare to step on the battlefield she created. I position my arrow and shoot them quietly. When I was about to finish the tenth witch something was coming in my direction. So, I jumped away.
I closed my eyes and saw her watching Dion’s son. I shoot her and open my eyes. I knew it hit her so I hurriedly head back to my pack. I saw Dion’s troop.
‘Hunt quietly.’ I reminded everyone. ‘Don’t let your anger make you attack blindly.’
I ran to where Alpha Riva was. I was hiding quietly when something fell next to me. I looked at where it was coming from. It was a female hunter, with Alpha Titus's scent. She must be his wife. She may be a human but badass. I did not expect him to let her fight.
“Aria!” I heard him call her. She suddenly ran so I followed her. I saw her climb on Titus. My heart pinched when I saw that. I seemed to experience that before.
“Alpha, are you okay?” Lizo came and I smiled at him and then nodded.
I positioned my bow and released three arrows. I kept shooting until I run out of arrows. I shifted and attacked everyone enemy that came into my sight. Until Dion’s scent came into my nose. I ran towards him, but the black-capped man stopped me.
I looked up and I had a full view of his face.
“Do you remember him, Olive?” Who was he? “You must miss him so much.” I stepped back and snarled at him.
“Don’t be skeptical, he’s alive,” I growled at him when he stepped closer. He looked disappointed when I did not react to what he said.
“Rylan would be very hurt knowing you do not miss him.” He said and acted sorry for him. My Rylan would never hurt me, for me he was just Dion’s toy. He has to underestimate me so much. I moved fast past the black-capped man and I attacked him. He instantly shifted when he fell to the ground. I was about to attack him again when I felt someone approaching from behind, I jumped away.
I ran away and shifted back. I summoned my bow and created my arrow. ‘Lend me your power, my little fighter. I need you.’ I shoot him and he was surprised when it vanished.
“What happened to you, Olive?” He mocked me thinking it vanished in the air but appeared in front of him and hit his heart. He pulled it out and ran fast as he could.
I ran to escape the black-capped man too. He followed me but Devon came to keep him busy. I fought next to Linda when suddenly Lizo turned his head to me. And he was attacked and fell. I shoot his enemy so he could escape.
I continued fighting when I saw Linda was looking at me too.
“Why?”
“I think I heard something. Your scent changed too but it was normal now.” She said and fear climbed into my nerves. No way. ‘No, baby. Not yet.’
I climbed up in the tree and looked for their base. I gathered all my power and shoot that part. The intense blue light came out from my arrow and the part of the forest that was hit went frozen. It took down many of their counts.
Dion escaped but he will not live any longer. The other pack had taken care of half of his army. My Deltas team did not disappoint me. But from afar, I could see them running back. No, they’re not chickening out, they’ll return with more army, more powerful and twice as they were today.
“We’ll visit them to their pack after you regain your strengths.” I saw the Alpha sniff the air and I slowly backed away.
“Zenith, you can let Linda take over,” Miradel whispered to me.
“Tell me I still have time,” I whispered louder so they could hear me. She nodded and distanced herself from me. My scent was far different from the usual pregnant she-wolf since I’m carrying a quarter witch child. They should not suspect me. We rest for a while. I healed the wounded, and some helped to tend them too.
“We should move now.” Alpha Titus spoke after we had regained our strengths. I let them lead the troop. A sweet scent came into my nose. I looked up and Titus’s wife was handing me a bottle of water.
“Drink, you need that.” I accepted and was about to drink.
“You trust easily.” That stopped me and looked at her again.
“That’s my asset,” I answered. She chuckled and walked beside me.
“My husband used to tell me I trust easily too.” I drank the water after she said that. “You know you can’t fool my husband, right?” She said, she must have looked him up that much. “He knew something was up or should I say down in your stomach.”
