Bloody Yet Friendly Fight

Chapter 64: Bloody Yet Friendly Fight
I woke up earlier than planned so I went to the field. I knew they had all prepared for this. I heard they went out for private practice and I hope they did not overdo themselves. No one was still here-
“Excited for today too?” That was what I thought. I turned around and looked up at the tree.
“Of course, I hope you slept enough and are fine.” Devon lay on the branch and used his arm as a pillow.
“By any chance, does this initiation, will result to rank changes? Like from Gamma to Beta. Delta to Beta, you know what I mean.” I was aware of his desire to be one of my commands. I understand that he thought he was more suitable for being the Beta.
I took a sigh and looked at the wide field while Devon was behind me up on the tree.
“Do you think I did a wrong decision, Delta Devon?”
“I don’t think you did a wrong decision, I just thought that it was right but there’s maybe a better or even best decision than that.” He answered most gently. Not wanting to be on my bad side.
“Do you think I am biased?”
“Not biased, but emotionally influenced.” I glanced at him with a smile.
“I can assure you that there is no such thing evolve when I elected you all as my commands. You all deserve a position. So, you became my Delta. You may think I choose those close to my heart. Since I elected Linda who came from my pack and the daughter of the past Beta. And Lizo who also came from my pack.” I shook my head and opened my palm.
Then apples appeared in my palm, they floated on it, and I showed it to Devon.
“All of these apples came from the same tree, the same level of sweetness, nutrition, and anything.” Little clouds show up above the apples. Soon it started raining. Then some apples turned black. “Some apples turned black and became a poison.” I looked up at him. “Among those apples, what will you choose?”
“Are you saying I am a poison of this pack?”
“I am saying that you are like this apple who will become evil due to a bad day. Your strong personality, your character, you are not a type of forgiving person. I, myself am like this. I choose them, to maintain the balance of the goal of this rebellion, justice, and revenge. I know, you’d keep me on the right track. Not evil enough and not kind enough. I hope this explanation will enlighten you somehow.” He wasn’t looking at me, but I knew I put him in deep thought.
“Why do you think I am poison?”
“The earthquake that molded a deadly mountain like you was tougher than what we experienced. That is why, I want you to lead with me and I know you deserve to lead, so gave you the army to lead. Learn to love your team, and to be contented.” I said and closed my palm.
“I see.”
“You are strong, there is no need to prove that. You should be dead by now if you are a weakling.” I said before walking to Linda. She came early as expected.
“Alpha,” she bowed her head when she was a meter away from me. “I did not expect that you want to hold it this early, should I call everyone?”
“No need,”
Soon the field was already full, they were more than I expected.
“They are ready, Alpha,” Lizo whispered. I nodded and he stood up.
“RRRAHHHGHHH!” He roared to everyone. I stood up and peruse every face around.
“A fine morning to everyone! I am glad to see how excited you are to show me your strength and I hope you are not afraid to show your weaknesses too. This isn’t to rank yourselves accordingly but to access what kind of training you need to improve.” Some looked disappointed and some did not get care at all.
I explained the mechanics, and it started shortly. Linda gave me the cards of every team. I drew the first card, and it was Gunner’s and then Gilo’s. Deltas have a different fight from their team. Gunned stood next to me and Gilo was with his team.
“You got this, guys, show no mercy.” He said before running to me.
“Ready to lose, Gunner?” Gilo smiled at Gunner mockingly.
“You wish,” Gunner just gave them commands through our link, I noticed them locking their eye contact as if they were talking seriously.
Gilo’s team attacked, and Gunner’s was on their defense. I knew Gunner was a good strategist. His team was still observing their enemy’s capability. Their defense was quite solid and made sure not to move far enough from the group.
Gilo’s team was surprised when they moved fast and turned the table. They were attacking mercilessly. I did not miss how Gunner smirked while watching his team dominating the fight.
“Oh, shoot!” Gilo gasped. “Formation C!” He shouted.
He has something on his sleeve, I guess. His group grouped itself into two and surrounded the other group. In every two groups, one was attacking continuously while the other one was making sure no attack would touch them both. A duo technique.
“Finish them now!” Gilo was too loud, but it helped his team.
And Gunner would not let it happen easily. His team was clearly stronger, but Gilo’s was faster and more tricky. My rule was a drop from any group and it's done unless I let them continue.
One of Gilo’s army swiftly clawed Gunner’s army’s face.
“Done.”
“Told yah!” Gunner exclaimed. “You did well guys! Woohoooo!”
“Cheater,” Gunner whispered. I noticed that he was not in the mood since the day started. He was a little distracted. And kept on glancing at Linda.
“Let’s just say, my team, is a good fighter.”
“But their leader isn’t.”
“We’ll see that before the day ends.” He said and walked to his team. They celebrated their victory while Gunner only gave them a nod.
The next team was good too and Devon’s team won cleanly. The last team was Timor’s, I choose Devon’s group to fight with them. I was listing their performance when I looked at the field, Devon’s team was dominating but in a snap. A drop of blood dripped from Devon’s army’s nose.
“Done.”
“Lior and Gilo.” And they instantly went to the center. They shifted, Gilo was clearly smaller than Lior. But he’s fast enough to level him. Devon has pure black fur, but Gilo has mixed white and black. Lior was red and towering. In the end, Lior won.
“Linda and Timor,” I said and Linda casually stood and walked to the center to meet Timor.
‘That Timor should be good.’ I heard Gunner say through our link. I looked at him and saw him drinking a glass of water.
‘Chill,’ I could see that everyone has foreseen the outcome. They all thought that Timor would definitely win. Excluding me, I do not expect every match.
It started at once and Timor was gentlemanly enough to let Linda attack. I could sense her power; she hasn’t fully accepted that she was my Beta. It was weaker than it should. I need her to claim her power before the war starts.
She was putting up a good fight but was weak. Timor was getting tired and decided to end it. He tried to claw her face, but she jumped away. She attacked and tried to bite his front foot, but he instead caught her neck. I heard Gunner snarling and we all saw that a little drop of blood came from her neck, yet she clawed his leg at the same time.
They did not see the clawed part, but we smelled his blood.
He let her go. It was a tie.
“Continue,” almost everyone gasped when I said that. They continued fighting and Gunner could not stand it anymore and go to me.
“Alpha, it was clear that Timor won-“
“Calm down, Delta Gunner.”
“How can I calm down?” He walked closer to me. “This should end now.” He declared but he was talking to his Alpha. So, I only shook my head.
“Sit down and watch.” He was left with no choice but to watch. Timor was confused too so I gave him a nod. He prepared himself to attack mercilessly.
He jumped and Linda willingly took his attack. At the edge of my eyes, I saw Gunner gripping his chair tighter when she winced in pain. She pushed him off and attacked blindly. The gunner turned to me and his furious face was gone.
“Alpha,” a silent plea from him surprised me.
‘Don’t you want to see her angry?’ He forced himself to sit still and watch. ‘She’s my Beta, Gunner. Do not forget that she isn’t a type of she-wolf that you’ll babysit.’ I said through the link, and he did not respond anymore.
“RAAAARRGHHHH!” She was now mad; everyone felt her presence now. And that was what I wanted. She managed to bite his neck, so I stood up.
“Done.”
“RRAARGHHHH!” She roared louder and Timor bowed his head. They shifted back and Gunner jumped off his chair and ran to her. He instantly checked her wounds and could not help to snarl while wiping her blood.
Linda walked to him, “are you okay?” she asked Timor. They should know that I choose the right beta.
Timor nodded and Gunner did not like what he saw.
