Chapter 7

Doula switched on the television immediately after the call.
The program been shown on the first station that showed up was one that she loved. She paid keen attention to the program.
Her eyes met with one of her favorite musicians, and she was happy as she awaited them calling him out.
It was a music program that was always shown once a month, and they invited for five minutes to share their stories.
“Kailua also loves this program.” She said to herself.
She had always loved being a musician when she was little. However, she changed her mind when she joined junior high school.
“My world!” She said, placing her hand on her chest as a musician was being asked about his song titled MY WORLD.
Doula, who was interested in the program, didn't know when her phone rang. It wasn't until the convener of the program said, “Let's go on a quick commercial break.” that she checked her phone.
“Wow, five missed calls.” She said, hitching her hair.
Nevertheless, she picked up the phone.
The calls were from three different people, three of which were from the company she was to begin working for the next day, while two were from her uncle.
 She called the company first.
“Is this Miss Doula?” She was asked.
 “Yes, I am.” She said.
“Alright, we just called to remind you that you will be joining us as of tomorrow.” The person said.
“Alright, I surely will be there.” She said.
The call ended, and Doula smiled, returning her attention to the television.
By the time she returned her attention, they were just back from the commercial break, and she was happy that she didn't miss out on anything.
She immediately texted her uncle that she would call him back in two hours.
The program continued and Doula gave it her full attention.
After an hour and fifteen minutes, the program was done.
Doula walked to get herself a drink then went back to sit.
She turned the channel into a movie channel, which she watched and sipped from the cup that was in her hand.
Done with the movie, Doula turned off the television and went into her room.
“I need to search for a decent wear to dress in tomorrow.” She said to herself, ransacking her cupboard.
She brought out a mature skirt and a pink shirt.
“This is perfect.” She said to herself.
She held on to her chest as she really missed Kailua.
“I should go out for a walk.” She said to herself as she felt bored being alone in the house.
Walking out of the house, she looked around before locking the door.
She didn't have anywhere exactly to go, but she would rather not stay at home.
She walked away from home and began strolling the street.
While strolling the street, she looked at some fruits being sold by the wayside.
“I really like this fruit.” She said to herself.
She was not bothered about getting a fruit so she just admired it.
She kept strolling the street, looking at everything that had been sold.
After walking for ten minutes, she saw a fruit wine that was being sold, and this got her interested.
She walked to the lady who was selling it and pointed to a particular type.
“It's one hundred.” The lady said and Doula brought out what she had on her.
“Here is one hundred,” Doula said and she nodded, collecting the money.
“Here it is.” The lady said when she was done packaging the wine.
“Thank you,” Doula said taking it.
She continued strolling the street, not wanting to go home before the evening sky came out.
Suddenly, she remembered her uncle's call and her promise to call him back.
She ran to a closed shop, placing a call to her uncle.
“Why are you just calling?” Her uncle asked.
“I am sorry, uncle.” She said. “I totally forgot to call back.”
“It's alright.” He said. “I just thought of informing you to look out for your cousin.”
 “Why, uncle?” She asked.
“He hangs out close to your street.” He said. “I have been hearing different reports about him, but I don't know where he stays.”
“Alright, I will watch out for him,” Doula said.
She walked out of the closed shop and continued strolling the street.
Meanwhile, she had in mind to also walk to the next two streets in case she could see her cousin.
Not long after, she saw two people kissing and was mesmerized by the sight. However, her smile was cut short when she saw the guy's face. It was no other than her younger cousin, her uncle's son. He was not close to her street but in her street.
“What the fuck?” She asked no one.
Anger eluded her as she thought of this. Her cousin was just doing his final exam in high school, but he was still like this.
 “Gosh!” She exclaimed.
Rushing off to her cousin, she held on tight to the wine with her.
“Is this what you do?” She asked pulling them apart.
“You are my cousin, and you should be happy for me.” He said holding on to his girlfriend.
“You are in your finals,” Doula said.
“Yes, I know.” He barked back at her. “I am not like you who do not have a man.”
These words hurt Doula as she remembered the first person she loved.
“I do not have a man but your father…” She was saying but her cousin cut in.
“He doesn't want me with my girlfriend.” He said. “He wants me to focus on my education and then his company.”
“Which is because he wants the best for you,” Doula said making her cousin smile.
“Your wish.” He said, dragging his girlfriend away along with him.
Doula could only watch as her cousin walked away from her still holding on to his girlfriend.
“I think I will have to have a talk about this with Uncle tomorrow evening.” She said to herself.
