Chapter 27

"What can it be?" She asked herself.
She walked into the building and looked around.
Meni walked to her and she asked her why there was so much noise.
"Someone has been found guilty," Meni said.
 "Guilty of what?" She asked.
Meni took a deep breath and looked at her.
"Falling in love with a human." She said. "She is being disciplined by mother and we all are gathered together."
"Then why are you here?" Kailua asked.
"Kiera, I came here to welcome you since I sensed that you have arrived." She said and held Kailua's hand. "Come with me."
Kailua followed her into a room where everyone stood alone so as to watch the mother discipline the lady. Meni walked to her side and waited.
She saw how the mother told a male folk to lash her.
The lady pleaded as she was being flogged.
An hour later, the beating stopped and the lady fell to her feet.
Mother faced all of them gritting her teeth.
"No one here." Mother sounded sharp. "I say no one here is allowed to fall in love with a human talkless of the one you were given a task to."
 Everyone nodded to this.
Kailua held her hand in her mouth, surprised, and asked Meni in a whisper, "Did she fall in love with a human she was given the task to?"
"Yes, she did," Meni said smiling. "Reason, you should be heartless and a witch."
"What will happen to her now?" She asked.
Their discussion was interrupted by the mother's voice.
"Take her to the dark room." She said.
The lady put up her head weeping, "Mother, please don't take me to the dark room. There is going to be torment in there."
All the lady's pleading fell on deaf ears as the lady was dragged away.
Mother looked at all of them who gathered.
"Some are not here yet, but I would like each of you to disclose this to every one of them." She said and they all nodded. "You may disperse."
They all dispersed and left to have their lunch.
Midway through eating her lunch, Kailua turned to Meni.
"What is going to happen to her if she doesn't repent?" She asked.
"Who? Do you mean the one taken to a dark room?" Meni asked and she nodded. "She is going to be killed but her soul will never find rest."
"It will wander between our kingdom and the earth," Kailua said and she nodded. "Then, it's bad..."
 "To do what?" She asked.
"To fall in love with humans," Kailua said and she nodded.
"It's bad for a witch to fall in love with a human." She said.
Kailua took a deep breath having another question to ask.
"What if one had fallen in love in the human world before coming here?" She asked.
"Only if they both come to our world," Meni replied. "If not, then one would have to separate from the other."
Kailua smiled upon hearing this and turned to her meal.
"That's what happened to you and Kevin." She said and Meni nodded.
"But, I don't really care anymore," Meni said.
"That's because you are into girls." She said and they smiled.
They continued eating till they were done.
"We are having a mate meeting in the evening." The system put in place said.
Meni looked at Kailua and smiled.
"We need to get to the meeting as best friends in the evening." She said.
"What if I am not back by then?" Kailua asked.
"Kiera, don't doubt, you will be here." She said.
Kailua nodded her head to what her best friend said. She was happy that her best friend was her mate, though she wasn't her fellow friend.
The friends rested a bit before getting up to leave.
"Hold on!" They heard someone scream at them from behind and waited.
Kailua smiled on seeing Kaira and hugged her. Meni also hugged Kaira.
"Since when have you two been friends?" Kailua asked.
"Since..." Kaira said, laughing, and Meni took in a deep breath.
"To say the truth, we were never friends until I knew you." She said.
"You didn't know each other in the human world?" Kailua could not help but ask.
"No, Matthew was only my boyfriend and I didn't know his family except his immediate ones." She said.
 "Who is Matthew?" Kailua asked.
"Kevin." She said and Kailua nodded.
"Whereas, I wasn't birthed in the human world," Kaira said.
"So who is your master?" Kailua asked, looking at Kaira, who smiled.
"I am your fellow friend, so we have the same master," Kaira said, reminding Kailua, who nodded.
Kailua had a lot of questions going on her mind but she couldn't voice them out as they were already out of the gate.
They left each other appearing to their various places of assignments.
Kailua appeared in the cathedral and left going on the street.
People who have seen her before ran for their dear life while people who haven't seen her didn't run.
The woman she had drunk from her fruit without paying walked out of her shop calling on to her.
"The man you left with me has been so useless." She said pouring water on her.
Kailua held out her hand, stopping the water from reaching her, and threw it back to the woman making her wet.
"You loser, you will regret this." The woman cursed but Kailua cared less. She had a mission at hand.
Kailua walked into a club and saw a young man who was already drunk but still sleeping. She knew the source of his misery and transformed into his wife.
"My love." She called, placing her hand on the back of his ear, but he pushed her away.
Immediately he became deaf and she beñt over.
"Will you do my bidding?" She asked and he nodded.
"Yes, I will do whatever you want me to do." He said and she nodded.
People around him were calling to him, but he couldn't hear them apart from Kailua, who had transformed into her original self.
 "Kill them all." She said.
