Chapter 30

The next two weeks were great for Doula as she only went to work and came back when she was done to her parent's house.
They always talked anytime they were together. They had temporary workers who were to help them do some things.
The two weeks were short to come to an end as her parents needed to leave.
Doula felt sad that they had to leave but there was nothing she could do as they needed to go.
"You said you do not need money for upkeep." Her mother said.
"I don't anymore, mother." She said with a shrug. "I have a job and it's able to sustain me."
"Yes, I know your job can sustain you." Mrs. Soma said.
"So, I am okay with my pay." She said.
Her mother smiled touching her hair.
"I pray everything will be fine." She said.
Suddenly, they heard a rush beside their house and walked out to see what it was.
It was none other than a crowd of people standing together.
"What's going on here?" They heard Mr. Soma ask.
One of the men who was gathered with them mustered up the courage to look into his eyes.
Mr. Soma wasn't feared for his wealth but for his affluence, so people were always careful to look at him.
"We got the witch.". The man said smiling.
"The witch?" Doula asked and he nodded.
"Yes, Kailua." The man said and Doula shook her head.
"I am tired of things." She said. "You all haven't stopped your madness."
"Come, see for yourself if it's not her." The man said and Doula looked at her parents.
"Do not be scared. I am sure it isn't Kailua." Her mother said.
Clearing her throat, Doula made them promise that if it wasn't Kailua, then they were not going to say evil about Kailua.
Walking away from her parent's side, she walked to a woman tied in front and removed the blindfold. She was surprised to see Kailua's face.
 "You see." A woman said.
"Where do you want to burn her?" Doula asked angrily as she saw a beam of sweat drop under the woman's face.
The mask she was wearing was removed, and Doula smiled at how people could be when they wanted to prove someone guilty.
Everyone sighed listening to Doula's question.
"Thank you for giving up." Someone said.
The woman who was on the floor cried out, "I really am not Kailua but I am using a mask."
She removed the mask from her face and everyone shouted.
"You can do whatever you want to do to her," Doula said walking to her parents.
 "Let's go in." She said.
Mrs. Soma pulled her daughter when they were in.
 "Was it Kailua?" She asked.
"No, it was someone who dressed in disguise as Kailua." She said gritting her teeth.
"This life!" Mrs. Soma said. "It means she had made all believe that Kailua is a bad person."
"She really deserves to be killed." She said angrily.
She was grateful that she was able to take a picture of the lady before the mask was taken off and after.
Seeing her daughter being angry, Mrs. Soma pulled her close to herself.
"Do not be angry, everything is working for our good." She said.
Doula nodded walking to a couch while her mother went to get ready to leave.
Shortly after, her parents came out with their bags and called all the temporary workers.
Mr. Soma handed them each an envelope that contained money.
With their load, they walked out of the house with their daughter, Doula. They drove to Mr. Claus's house in the community and got down.
They knocked on the door and walked in but met Mr. Claus in a sad mood.
"What is it, elder brother?" Mrs. Soma asked.
"Remember the last two weeks when Douglas called me?" He asked and she nodded. "He has been arrested."
 "For what?" She asked.
"Rape." He said. "His girlfriend reported a rape case on him."
"So what are we going to do?" She asked.
Mr. Claus smiled, looking at her brother, who smiled.
"Just sit and watch on." He said.
Doula looked at her uncle as she knew he had something off his sleeve.
Didn't he just say, Douglas's girlfriend wasn't really pregnant for him?
 "Uncle, speak up." She said.
Her uncle started laughing as he lit up a cigarette.
"He was really framed, but I am not going to release me; he needs to be reformed." He said puffing off smoke into the air.
"Elder brother, why won't you release your son? He is your blood and the only one born to you." His sister said.
"There are a lot you do not know." He said. "Travel out of the country and only come back when she is to be married off."
Mr. Soma got down to his knees.
"Brother-in-law, why is that?" He asked.
"Because he is insane." Mr. Claus replied.
"How can you say that about your son?" His sister asked.
"Have you ever heard of cousins marrying in this side of the country?" Mr. Claus asked and she shook her head.
"What are you saying, Uncle?" Doula asked.
"Douglas wants to marry you for your parent's wealth." He said.
This word resounded in Doula's ear.
"Then it's better for him to remain in prison." She said.
Her parents looked at her while her uncle nodded smiling.
 "Where is Nisha?" She asked.
 "At her school." He replied.
"Do well to protect her." She said and her uncle nodded.
"Doula!" Her parents called her name.
"You do not know what has become of Douglas." She said.
"You may enlighten us." Her father said.
She looked to her uncle who smiled.
"You just need to go wherever you are heading to." He said and Doula nodded.
"Alright, we just came to inform you that we are going." Her father said, and Mr. Claus nodded, puffing out some smoke from his mouth.
"It's better." He said and got to his feet seeing them to the car.
