Chapter 28

The next day, Doula sat in the house. She was already tired of hearing different things about Kailua.
"Why don't you just come to me, Kailua?  Prove them wrong." She said to herself.
She thought of all the good times they had been together and everything they had done together.
"Kailua, why don't you hear me and come down?" She asked.
Smiling to herself, she thought, "I am shouting her name like she is a ghost or witch who can hear me from wherever she is."
 She laughed at this thought.
"Has it gotten to me that I am also thinking of her as a witch?" She asked herself.
She shook her head waving the thought away.
She had just come back from work where they had a meeting in the accounting department, but still, she didn't know who her Boss was. She only knew his jovial assistant and had started developing feelings for him.
"That's how he is to everyone around him, so what is wrong with me, why have I started developing feelings for him?" She asked herself.
Remembering what he told her before the meeting, she closed her eyes.
"I am meant to hate him for calling Kailua a witch." She said as she remembered him slamming his hand on her desk to make her see through what he meant.
"He wants me to hate my best friend." She said to herself holding on to her chest. "And foolish me have started falling for him."
She had tears in her eyes as she remembered all this.
Suddenly, her mind diverted to her uncle and Nisha.
"He has always hated her but I didn't notice that Nisha also hates her sister until now." She said to herself.
Tears flowed from her eyes as she remembered this.
"Kailua, just a few weeks since you left, and the whole world seems to turn against you." She said to herself.
Shaking her head, she turned on the TV, and the headline of the news caught her attention.
KAILUA MURDERS SOMEONE AGAIN was the headline.
She put in her whole attention as she watched the news.
The newscaster pointed, saying that it was Kailua.
She could see everyone running but couldn't see Kailua.
"Fake, they all are fake." She said to herself.
She still kept her eyes on the TV, thinking maybe she could see Kailua's face, but she didn't see her.
A thing caught her attention in the news which made her laugh.
An unstable man fell to the ground in a market place and the news reporter who said he was hiding in a house pointed at nothing.
"They are all insane." She said and saw her phone ring.
She looked away when she saw that it was Nisha called, but deliberating on it, she answered the call.
"Doula!" Nisha called in a faint tone.
 "Hello, Nisha." She said.
"It's your uncle," Nisha said and this made her jump up to her feet.
"What exactly happened to my uncle?" She asked.
"He is being arrested," Nisha replied weeping.
Looking at the TV, Doula switched it off and barged into her room.
"Where are you?" She asked and Nisha responded.
She prayed that her uncle would not be arrested because he was the one behind this conspiracy.
"If he is the one then I surely will make his life worse." She said to herself.
Looking away, she put on her dress and left the house with some money.
Getting to her uncle's house, she knocked on the door which was opened by Nisha.
 "Nisha." She called.
Nisha pointed forward and so she went.
Instead of seeing the police, she was surprised to see her parents.
"Mom! Dad!!" She called rushing to hug them.
"Doula!" Her mother called hugging her. "I heard that Kailua is now a witch."
"Mother, do you also believe the rumor?" Doula asked releasing herself from her mother's arm.
"I do not believe." Her mother said and sat Nisha down.
She also looked at Doula and touched her cheek.
"Sit down." She said and Doula sat beside her.
Mr. Soma looked at them and then at his wife, who nodded to him. He then looked at Mr. Claus who also stared at him.
"It might not be Kailua." He said. "Study shows that the evil spirit uses the face of the person we don't like to hurt us."
Mrs. Soma held onto her daughter's hand and asked her, "Where was she before all this began happening?"
"She got a job far away and told me to only call her when I need her," Doula replied.
"She also called me once," Nisha said.
"And what did she tell you?" She asked.
"I should take care of our parents," Nisha replied. "That was before our parents were killed."
"Think of it." Mr. Soma said. "She had known that this was likely to happen. She has either been kidnapped or killed."
 "Kailua!" Nisha screamed in tears.
Mr. Claus had his head bowed as he thought he was the one who made Kailua leave his niece.
"I am sorry for all I have said against your friend." He said not being able to look at Doula.
Doula, who was in tears, hugged Nisha, who regretted them calling her sister a witch.
...
Kailua who saw everything that displayed in Mr. Claus house, shook her head looking at the mother.
"It won't be easy to make Doula have me." She said.
"What do you want me to do?" The mother asked. "Get them out of the way by killing them?"
Kailua smiled shaking her head as she heard Mr. Soma say that they will just be staying in the country for two or three weeks.
"I would also like them to hate me so that it can be easier for Doula to hate me." She said.
"How are you going to accomplish that?" The mother asked. "They now believe an evil is using your body."
"Do not worry about that. You may leave it to me." She said.
