Chapter Thirty: The Way It Used To Be

And once she closed and locked her room's door, she decided to let herself fall on her bed, and stared at the white ceiling.
"I'm thankful of what Jayden did for me,but why is everyone making it a big deal? And there's no way we're gonna have a romantic relationship!" she angrily muttered.
Ever since Jayden became a popular figure at their school, she feels like he moved so far way from her, living her behind. They were almost inseparable back in their elementary days, and now that they are in high school, they looked like they are total strangers.
"But everything's totally different now, and there's nothing we can do about it. I'll just give the jacket back to Jayden and move on. Anyway, we're going to graduate soon and we'll be walking on different paths in College." Emilie firmly said to herself.
She decided to give back Jayden's jacket at school tomorrow...
===========================
Weekend finally came.
"Good morning everyone!" Emilie smilingly greeted her parents and her sisters who are already at the dining table. As part of their family's rules, no one can start eating breakfast, lunch and dinner until the members of the family are complete.
"Good morning!" all of the family members said in unison.
As soon as Emilie sits on her designated seat, they started eating breakfast.
"Girls, do you have something going on this Saturday?" Emmett Albreicht suddenly asks his daughters.
"Not really. My friends and I were supposed to go on shopping, but they totally cancelled on the last minute." Emilia answered.
"How about you, Emma?" their mother, Lara Albreicht asked.
"Well, I'm not going out with friends or anything, I just want to finish the book I'm reading." responded Emma.
"And Emilie?" Lara asks the oldest of their triplets.
"Uh, Just gonna do a self study, that's all." answered Emilie.
"Okay, then. You don't have something important to do today, so we're going somewhere tonight." Emmett suddenly announces.
Emilie, Emilia and Emma all turned to their father, and they started asking questions.
"Where are we going?"
"Is it a party?"
"Does it have a dress code?"
"Alright, alright! I'm going to answer all of your questions. We're going to your Uncle John and Auntie Amanda's house. We're going to have dinner at their house and hangout with Jayden. It's not a party, just a simple dinner because we've been invited by them. And no, there's no dress code. Did I answer all of your questions?" their father answered all of their inquiries.
"Yes, Dad." chorused the triplets.
"It's settled then." Lara smilingly stated.
They continued on having a conversation over breakfast, but Emilie's just silent while deeply thinking.
For the passed weekdays, she tried her best to talk to Jayden alone, however, she just can't have the perfect timing. Everytime she tries to talk to him, Jayden's busy with his friends, busy with his basketball practice,. or he's doing something very important. That's why up until now, his varsity jacket is still on her possession.
And now, she has the perfect timing to give back his jacket at the dinner party at his parents house later this evening...
===============================
The evening of the intimate party at the Doe's Family finally came.
"Alright, we're here, girls." Emmett announces, as he stops their Mercedes Benz infront of the Doe Family's house entrance. Their mother and father steps down from the vehicle, then Emilia and Emma followed suit.
Emilie finally emerges from the car, while holding a presentable paper bag which has Jayden's varsity jacket inside.
The five of them are now walking inside the Doe's family house, and they are welcomed by none other than Uncle John and Auntie Amanda.
"Welcome to our humble abode, Emmett and Lara! And I'm really happy and excited to see you Emilie, Emilia and Emma!" Amanda warmly welcomes the triplets, while giving each of them a big, bear hug.
"I'm so glad to see you guys again..." John gave out a big smile towards Emmett and Lara.
"We feel the same way, brother." Emmett responded in return, while tapping John's shoulder.
"We're really happy to have a get-together like this after a long time." added Lara.
"Please, come in! Let's have some refreshments first while we're getting the table ready." Amanda invited them to come inside the house.
"I'll just ask our helper to bring us some drinks and snacks, honey." John informed his wife.
"Thank you, hon... Oh, let me just call Jayden to join us here." Amanda relayed, and then afterwards, she calls for her son.
"Jayden, come on down and join us! Our special guests are here!"
After a few minutes, Jayden is now walking down the stairs, with a big smile on his face.
"Wow, Jayden! You're getting taller everytime I see you!" Emmett greeted his godson.
"Well, I need to get taller so that I can get more advantage during a basketball game, Uncle Emmett." Jayden smilingly said in return.
"His dream is to become a professional basketball player. And whatever can make our son happy, his mother and I will support him in any way that we can." John joined in their conversation.
"And how are you, girls?" Amanda excitedly asked the triplets.
"We're great, Auntie Amanda. Thank you for asking." Emilia politely answers.
"We're trying to balance our time studying and socializing with others." Emma added.
"That's good to know. And how's Jayden at school?" Aunt Amanda did a follow-up question.
Emilia and Emma didn't answer, but instead they gave their sister Emilie a knowing look.
"Oh, yes! I should be asking you, dear Emilie... You and Jayden are very close with each other since you were babies, and the two of you are always in the same class from grade school up until high school. How's Jayden at school?" Aunt Amanda turned her attention to Emilie.
Emilie didn't have a choice but to answer Aunt Amanda's question.
"He's doing good, Auntie. He got good grades and he's doing his best as the basketball team's captain." she enunciated.
Auntie Amanda seems happy with her answer. At the same time, she caught Jayden looking at her and he gave her a small nod and a smile.
