"Don't you dare back out, Em. You already promised me that we're both going to the Bonfire Night, so you'd better keep your promise!" Claire reminded Emilie, while they are both standing on the other line, with the rest of the students. "Don't worry, Claire. I already promised, and my sisters wants me to come with them, too." Emilie made an assurance to her best friend. "That's good to know. By the way, I'm going to tell you something later on. I'm planning to do something at the Bonfire Night..." Claire smilingly announces. Emilie curiously frowned, while looking at her best friend. "What is it? Is it even legal?" "Don't worry, it's not illegal or anything. I'll just tell you about it later at lunch, okay?" Claire said, in mysterious manner. Emilie is excited to know what her best friend is planning to do at the Bonfire Night, but she needs to be patient and wait until lunchtime... ============================ After a few hours. "What? Are you out of your mind, Claire? You're going to confess your feelings to Andrew at the Bonfire event?!" Emilie unbelievably exclaimed, as her eyes widens in shock. "Shhh! Can you tone it down a little? They might hear you!" Claire tries to hush her down. They are currently at the school cafeteria, and most of the tables and seats are occupied, so there might be a possibility that someone might hear their conversation. "Oppss, sorry. But did I hear it right?" Emilie just wanted to make sure. "Yes, and I've thought about this for a very long time and I've finally made a decision." Claire looks determined as ever. "I respect your decision, but are you really. sure about this? You're a girl, and boys should be the one to make the first move." Emilie enunciated. "Whoa, I didn't know you could be this conservative! We're in the modern world and time now, girl. Girls can almost do everything just like boys." Claire stated. "Okay, I got it. I don't want to be the party pooper here but what if Andrew turns you down?" Emilie started laying down the worst case scenario. "Well, it will hurt, but at least I was able to let him know what I feel. At least I tried, and there's no what ifs for me in the future." Claire casually answered. "That was a good answer, Claire. I couldn't agree more." Emilie finally nodded in agreement. "So, how about you? When are you going to confess your feelings to Jayden?" Claire suddenly ambushed her with an intriguing question. "Are you crazy, Claire? Why on earth would you think that I have feelings for Jayden?!" she inquired, while looking annoyed. "You're still in denial, huh. Believe me, you'll just wake up one day finally admitting your feelings for him." Claire pronounced, and she looks quiet sure about it. "Hah! Over my dead body! There's no way it's going to happen!" Emilie said in return, and she really looks adamant with the idea. "We'll see about that." Claire said, while grinning from ear to ear. Emilie just shook her head in return, trying to dismiss that cringey idea out from her head. She doesn't have idea on why Claire had that strange thoughts about her and Jayden, but there's no chance for them to be romantically involved together! And just like what she said before--- over her dead body! =================================== Almost all of the people at the Albreicht mansion has been busy like bees since early in the morning. Today is the day wherein Jayden will arrive at their mansion, and it's going to be his first day staying at the Albreicht home. Their parents and Jayden's parents agreed to let him stay for a month. Uncle John and Auntie Amanda will be staying in New York to take care of Jayden's grandparents for one whole month. Emilie doesn't see to care much about Jayden's arrival, and she's just sitting at the sofa in their living room, while the others are walking back and forth. "Guys, what's the big fuss on Jayden's arrival? He's not a prince nor a celebrity or anything. Can't you guys just relax?" she tries to calm everyone down. "Why dear, aren't you excited to welcome Jayden in our house? I remembered you were almost inseparable when you were still in grade school." her mother suddenly stated. "You said it yourself, Mom. That was back in grade school. That was ages ago, and it's totally different now." Emilie diplomatically reasons out. "Why do you look so awkward and tensed whenever we talk about Jayden? We practically grew up together!" Emilia spoke. "And not to mention, we've been studying at the same school together ever since our elementary days, and now in high school." Emma added. "Why do you make it sound that it's my fault? Can't you just accept the fact that as years go by, everything changes? We can't always be together forever!" Emilie responded, as she getting more and more irritated with this conversation. "Okay, we're not going to force you or anything, but just try to be civil and polite towards Jayden. Is that clear, Emilie?" Emmett strictly reminded his eldest daughter. And before Emilie could answer, they heard someone blowing their car horn at their driveway. Their mother, her sisters Emilia and Emma excitedly makes their way towards the entrance door to welcome their guests. At the same time, Emilie forces herself to stand up, to show respects and to welcome Jayden's parents, Uncle John and Auntie Amanda. "I don't know what happened between you and Jayden, and I'm not going to ask you what happened, but let's just welcome Jayden, alright?" her father suddenly spoke, as he gently smiles at her. "Yes, Daddy. I promise." Emilie nodded as an answer. One month will just pass by quickly, so she just had to bear with Jayden. And it wouldn't hurt her to be civil with him. Emilie and her father are now walking their way to the entrance door to welcome the Doe Family...
