Chapter Forty-Eight: Emma, The Chameleon

Four hours later.
Back at Emma's house.
Emma winced as she sat on her bed. The pain in her legs and feet became unbearable and she's just forcing herself to move.
Samantha and Emma taught her how to do her make up, and walk in high heels. She's not comfortable with all the gunk on her face. She wants to soak her face in a lukewarm water to remove her make up, but she doesn't have the strength to move anymore.
She let herself fall on her bed to take a little break. She then promised herself that she will wash her face and take a shower after five minutes, but she didn't realize that she had already fallen asleep because she was so dead tired...
===============================
The next day.
Emma lazily groaned as she stirred on her bed. She heard her mobile phone ringing non-stop, so she decided to answer the call.
"Hmm... Hello?" she said in a raspy voice.
"Based on your voice, you're just about to wake up."
Emma's eyes flew open when she heard Samantha's voice from the other line.
"By the way, do you even know what’s your schedule for today?” Sam asked her another question.
"Huh? But it's Saturday toda, right?" Emma puzzily answered.
"What? You mean you didn't even review the folder I gave you yesterday? How could you be so irresponsible?” Samantha reprimanded her.
"Alright, I'll look for the folder rightaway!" Emma finally woke up, as she frantically searches for the folder.
“You’s better do that. I’ll call you back after 5 minutes!” without a warning, Samantha abruptly ended the call.
Emma hurriedly searched around her room. She didn't realize that five minutes had already passed. But she's still lucky because she found the folder at the same time her phone rang again.
"Whew! Saved by the bell." she thought.
"Well, have you found it?" Sam asked her rightaway.
"Yes."
"Good. Now tell me your schedule today." she commanded her.
"Uh, Darren Hayes is supposed to meet up with his friends at a bowling alley at 10 am..." Amaia reads the schedule.
"And what time is it now?" probed Samantha
Emma’s eyes flew towards her desk clock. Her eyes widened in shock when she saw that it's already 9:30 in the morning!
"Oh, shoot!" Emma muttered under her breath.
"And you'll be in deep trouble if you don't move right now, Emma. And I expect good results. Good luck." Samantha commanded, and after that, she disconnects the call.
Emma hurriedly got up, and she went to the bathroom for a quick shower. After ten minutes she came out, and just grabbed a white shirt and a pair of pants.
She hurriedly tied her hair in a ponytail. She then grabbed her bag and camera.
And after a few minutes, she's on her way now to do a surveillance on Darren Hayes.
================================
It was a Sunday morning, and Emma is still at her bed. She plans to just laze around her room, just watching movies, eating chips, sleeping, and repeat.
But Emma had a surprise visit from Samantha, who decided to visit her house. She didn't have any choice but to talk to her..
"In case you didn't know, today is Sunday and it's supposed to be my rest day! Please give me a break, Sam!" Emma whines at her Editor-In-Chief.
“--- and there’s no weekend off for your secret mission, Emma! You have to consistently watch over Darren Hayes!" Samantha reminded Emma.
"But there was nothing out of the ordinary yesterday. He and his friends just went to the bowling alley, had fun and that was it!" Emma complains.
"You want to have some fun, girl? Here." Samantha suddenly said, as she gave Emma a small white envelope.
“What’s this?” Emma curiously asks her.
"Just open it."
“You are invited to my birthday party. The theme of my party is "Black & White." See you there and let's have fun!" Emma read the invitation.
"In case you have forgotten, it's Daisy 18th birthday next weekend. Everyone's invited. As in EVERYONE from school." Samantha enunciated.
"Don’t tell me---!" Emma wasn't able to finish her sentence when Samantha spoke again.
“Of course, you’re going to the party, darling! Darren Hayes will definitely be there. And you'll be wearing this!" she suddenly announced, as she showed Emma a white one piece sleeveless dress and the length is only above her knees.
Emma groaned inwardly while looking at the dress.
“Now, now... What’s with that look? Aren't you excited for the party?" cajoled Samantha.
"Look, I can just tail behind him, or observe him from a distance... There's no need for me to do this!" Emma begged her.
Samantha shook her head in return.
"No, Emma. You have to get close to him as much as possible. There's no other way! Now, be a good girl. And just think about the good thing thay will happen after this. You'll now right many articles as much as you want! That has been your dream, right?" she encourages Emma.
"I can't believe I'm doing this." Emma sighed, in a helpless manner.
