“WOW! HER SKIN IS SMOOTH.” “Look. Her hair is shiny too. Looks like she does hair rebond.” Love was just silent as entertainers at the club who were with her at the dressing room, looked at her as if she was some kind of a lab specimen. She had been confined to a room there since that morning after Epong’s group took her and her cousin from their house. She was really scared because she was forced to sing in front of their boss named Boss Andres. That man was very strict. While waiting for her turn to sing earlier, he punished one of the entertainers who did not dance well. He was more frightening than the other men she had been dealing with. It was a miracle she was even able to sing well after witnessing that. It was also explained to her how she could pay her debt at that time, but she could not understand anything. Her brain was not functioning properly, but there was only one thing that was clear to her. After that night, she had no hope in life. Her life would be miserable forever. One of the entertainers waved her hand at her to get her attention. "Are you really blind? But you don’t seem like one. Your eyes look normal to me.” Love blinked and her mind returned to the present. She didn't notice they were focusing on her eyes now. Fortunately, her mind was on somewhere else and so she looked like she couldn’t see anything. “Idiots! Is this the first time you’ve seen a blind person? She’s just like us, not an alien. Just make yourself beautiful or this new girl will take all the attention to herself,” said Mimi, the gay man who manages the entertainers there. “We’re just wondering what the boss found extraordinary about her that he made her the next star. She’s not even that pretty,” said Bianca, one of the veteran entertainers at the club. “Even her voice was just mediocre. Is this the first time Boss had seen a singing blind person? How can that attract customers?” "Are you saying you know more than the Boss?” Mimi said with a raised eyebrow. "Or are you just threatened because you’re past your prime now and this one is still fresh?” "I'm not threatened! No way a blind virgin-like be more famous than me. Give me a break.” Then Bianca and her companions left Love. She had a feeling they would despise her even more. "Whiny bitches,” Mimi said as he handed her a rolled-up red dress. "That's what you're going to wear." Kulas promptly took the dress and unfolded it. He was Mimi's assistant. But the moment they arrived this morning, Kulas had been running around doing all kinds of work in the club. Kulas had mopped the floor, cleaned the tables, and then he also had been taking care of the other entertainers. Love almost cringed at the sight of the unfolded red dress. It only has one sleeve. It only covered her chest area but it had a slit near her abdomen. And it looked like her whole thigh would be exposed. Looked like the type of clothing that should not be worn with underwear. She couldn’t imagine herself wearing that dress. They should just ask her to strip completely. "This is too sexy," Kulas protested immediately. “This doesn’t suit my cousin. Is there no other dress that is more…better than this?” She was grateful for what her cousin did. Kulas would serve as her eyes and mouth now. And even if she could see, she wouldn’t be able to say anything anyway. No one should know that she could actually see. And while everyone else thought she’s blind, maybe there was still hope that she could escape. Mimi put his hands on his hips. “Sweethearts, you’re just new here and you’re already showing that attitude? What do you want your cousin to wear? A nun's dress? This place is not a convent. This is an entertainment club. Men do not enter this place to be sanctified. Everyone here is sinful. You, too, are stressing me out.” "I-I'm sorry, Mimi," she whispered softly. “Listen, girl, you’re just new here. This is the life you have now so deal with it. If you can’t wear that, just perform naked then.” "Mimi, I'll take care of her,” Lorena said. She was the choreographer of the dancers there. “Oh, thank goodness. These two are making me ugly,” Mimi said and left them. "How about wearing this one?” Lorena suggested a black sequined gown. It was longer even though it was still tight-fitting with a sexy cut. "Ate, this would look better on you," Kulas said and placed the clothes against her body. “You’ll look like a diva in this dress. This looks more decent than that red dress.” Kulas smiled at Lorena. "Thank you for lending this.” Love couldn't help crying. For the first time, someone showed sympathy for her in that place. When others found out that she was blind, they just laughed at her. While the others insulted and belittled her. "I'm sorry if I'm crying,” she said. “I'm just scared. I really don't like to be here.” Lorena hugged her as Love cried. “It’s okay. Just cry if you want to. I was like that too when I first came to this club. I just learned to be numb. I had no choice anyway because I had to pay for my debt.” "The same thing happened to you?" Lorena smiled sadly. “My stepmother sold me here when my father died. She owed a lot of money to Andres’ father. I also cried a lot on my first night here. But Andres bought my freedom and married me.” “You’re Boss Andres’ wife? Then why are you still here?” With her husband’s wealth, she should not need to work at the club. "I still want to work. I often don't feel like I'm his wife. Maybe because he just bought me.” She touched her forehead. "What am I saying?" So she was no different from her. And Lorena was even the syndicate’s boss’ wife. But she doesn’t look like she was happy though. Just like her who would never be happy again. “Ma’am Lorena, maybe you can help us escape. I-I can't work here,” she whispered and bowed. "Shhh!" Lorena hushed her and looked around. “Don’t bring that up. Someone might hear you. I can't help you there. I’m sorry. We’re all just prisoners in this hell. Andres’ men will not let you be free and you could get into more trouble. For now, just follow their wishes until you pay off your debt. If you're lucky, maybe a man will take you out of this place.” There was a man who would save her from this place? It would just be like a fairytale if that ever happens. And she is afraid to believe in fairy tales. Because it wouldn’t be long before she loses her rights to dream.
