I sat up on the sand and stared at the waters in front of me.
The way the waters moved along with the wind and the sound it made was really amusing.
It was a sight to the behold!
There were couples holding hands and walking on the beach.
While some other people played with the water.
It was eye candy.
Then, I watched how a father and his little daughter strolled on the waters.
The father was holding the hands of his little one so lovingly that I could see the love and care in his eyes and actions.
The little girl was very happy and just kept laughing all the way.
The father soon joined in the laughter too.
As they walked on the water, the girl slipped a little but before she could fall, her dad caught her.
I saw the girl smile in appreciation.
Later, the man carried her in his arms as they continued walking around talking and laughing.
Staring at them, I couldn't help but recollect scenes from a book which was titled, The Better Place.
There, it was revealed how much love the father had for his little daughter.
She was his priceless treasure, a gem of incalculable worth.
When his daughter was born, he made lots of promises to himself that he'll love and protect her till his last breath.
Since he grew up without a complete family, he always felt a void in his heart especially when he sees a complete Happy family.
So he made a promise to himself to love and care for his family.
He had promised himself not to allow his children to suffer from what he suffered.
And that's what he did.
While in some cultures, male children are usually preferred to female children.
He wasn't like that at all.
He loved all his children equally and didn't practice preferential treatment.
Perhaps this was one of the reasons why his children never felt insecure and why they loved one another equally.
Because they believed that they were one. No matter what.
It's really cute to see a father duo interaction.
Especially to someone like Sushie who often carved parental love and care when she was younger... The love she never got.
Anyways... Perhaps it's been destined that way.

I was still in deep thoughts when I felt strong arms wrap around me from behind.
I turned and almost immediately I was engulfed in a warm embrace.
Without even looking up I knew who it was....
I simply rested my face on his chest as we stayed like that in silence.
" What a beautiful day, isn't it? " I heard him say.
" Yeah, it indeed is. " I replied after a moment of thought.
It indeed is a very beautiful day, the weather was cool.. The day was clear and everything looked okay and perfect.
I guess this is how the day before New year's is really meant to be.
" Hm.. I can see it too... " He replied silently before breaking the hug.
Then, he handed over to me the ice tea and Snacks he got.
"Aw, thanks... " I said as I took it and began eating slowly all the while thinking.

It was new year eve, one of the best times of the year.
And for the first time I felt content and complete.
The void and lone feeling was nowhere to be found anymore.
Earlier, when I was thinking of the perfect place to go before New year.
I immediately thought of the beach, it's really one of my most favorite places.
A place where I got to see nature and admire it.
It was until that incident where I found Sushi unconscious by the beach.
That incident made me dislike coming to the beach..
But since then, we have to get over all the past trauma and step happily into the new year.
I decided to come here with my sister and that's what we did.
All the while, I had been watching Sushie, how she mused over the father daughter reactions.
It's like she also wished for something like that.
Well I couldn't blame her though since she wasn't opportuned to enjoy one In the past.
And to be honest, I really don't think it's going to happen in the future.
But well... I can take the place of a father in her life, can't I?
I believe I can though.
Slowly but steadily I'll try to fill those areas in her life so she'll be happy and smiling once again... Like every normal teenager.
I watched her with interest as she munched the burgers and drank the ice tea.
It was really an interesting sight.
" Em... You want some? " I guess she mistook my stare for something else.
" No, you should enjoy it. " I told her with a smile.
" Okay, then.." she said and continued eating.
' How cute! ' I thought.
