Narrator's POV
As soon as the receptionist was done biting Mrs. Harper, Mrs. Harper began to transform too, her transformation wasn't ordinary, it sounded like her bones were cracking as she rose from the ground.
“Grrrrrrgh!!” both the receptionist and Mrs. Harper roared. ' Fuck what's this smell' Annie thought as she stared at them.
“ Dammit! Stop staring and let's go,” Maddie yelled as she pulled Annie along with her up the stairs.
On the other hand…
It turns out the receptionist wasn't the only one who had transformed into a monster. All the hotel staffs had transformed too.
The Concierge of the hotel walked towards the room where all the high school students stayed. He went to the first room and knocked.
Knock…knock…
“ Who's knocking ?” A boy with black hair and light green eyes asked.
“ It should be the Concierge,” a girl with long blonde hair with a light green color at the tip and bright hazel eyes replied.
“ Or It might be Mrs. Harper,” Another boy said, he was dark skinned and his black hair weaved to the back.
“ I will go open it” The boy with black hair and light green eyes said, but a short girl with short chestnut colored hair and pale brown orbs blocked him.
“ Don't open it, Josh,” the girl said
“ Why? It could be Mrs. Harper,” Josh replied.
“ You're just scared, aren't you? Maya,” another girl asked in a teasing tone. She had black long hair packed into a ponytail with black orbs.
“ No, listen to me, if it were actually Mrs. Harper or the Concierge, don't you think they would have said something like' hey! Are you guys okay? Do you need anything? '” Maya said.
“ Well, she has a point,” the girl who teased Maya replied.
“ Ok, hmm Elvis, does your phone have any cell service?” Josh asked the second guy.
“ No, nothing,” he replied.
“ Emma, Emily, anything?” Josh asked the two girls. The girl with long blonde hair with a light green colour at the tip and bright hazel eyes name's Emma, while the other girl with black long hair packed into a ponytail with black eyes name's Emily.
“ Nope” they both said.
“ What's going on? No cell service, no lights and worst of all is this solar eclipse” Josh asked.
“ Can this day get any worse?” Elvis groaned, surprisingly, The knocking stopped.
“ Hmm? The knocking stopped” Emma said.
“ Yeah,” the rest said.
The Concierge who was Outside their door had walked towards another door and knocked.
“ It should be Mrs. Harper, I will go open it” the first girl said, she walked towards the door and opened it.
“ Oh! It's just the Concierge, I'm sorry sir we don't…” she said, she paused as soon as she saw the face of the Concierge, he didn't look human.
“Ahhh!! Somebody help me, please !” she screamed as the Concierge bit her arm, the other students in the room were all terrified they didn't know what to do. Until a boy used his baseball bat to hit the Concierge continuously. But that didn't change anything, instead the Concierge moved his attention to the boy and bit him too. The girl whom the Concierge bit began to transform. Immediately, she rushed to the other girls and began to bite them. Only one guy remained, and he tried to escape, but the Concierge caught him and pulled him back into the room. The guy grabbed the door and tried pulling himself out, but the grip of the Concierge was too strong.
' Fuck! How strong is this thing?' he thought. All the other students in his room had already transformed, and they all had creepy smirks on their faces as they walked closer to him. The boy shook his head vigorously and yelled for them to stay back, but that didn't work. They pulled him back into the room and bit him.
Charlie's POV
I rushed out of my room with the scissors I took from my desk in my hand and saw my stepdad trying to bite Chester while Chester used a cushion pillow to shield himself. I used the scissors in my hand to stab my stepdad in the neck, but that didn't work, as He turned his neck backwards to face me.
“Grrrgh!” he roared, a sticky tentacle-like stuff came out from his back and grabbed me.
“So you're the fucker that dragged me into the forest and almost killed me” I said to it, it let go of Chester and turned his attention to me. He began to smash me into the wall repeatedly. Chester escaped from the living room, when he came back, he was holding a massive rifle.
' Since when did we own a rifle' I thought, he then aimed at its neck and fired multiple times until its head fell off.
“ Are you okay?” Chester asked,' how does he know how to use a rifle?' I thought.
“ I know you have numerous questions, I will answer them but in the meantime let's try to survive this together” Chester said stretching out his hand, I nodded and held on to his hand then he pulled me up.
“ Lock the front door first I will go lock the back door, after that, the windows” Chester ordered. I nodded and did as he said. Those things tried getting into our house, so we locked everywhere as quickly as we could, making sure there wasn't a way for them to get in.
A while later…
“ I don't understand, why is this happening and why do we have a gun?” Charlie asked as I watched Chester load the rifle and pack all the bullets into a bag.
“ Apparently, this city is cursed and my dad, you know he's a criminal, he keeps some of his guns in his room,” Chester said.
“ Oh, what about the curse? ” I exclaimed with a confused expression on my face.
“ After that thing in you revealed itself to me, I did some research,” Chester said.
“ So you did research within a short period of time, how's that possible?” I asked, staring at him in awe.
“ I have my ways,” Chester boasted.
“ Anyway, what about the curse” I asked
“ This thing is a Draugr, a mythical creature from Norse Ancient mythology,” Chester said.
“ And they are tougher than zombies, much more intelligent and strong,” He added.
“ Oh! So, why is this city cursed?” Charlie asked.
“ I don't know how this city was cursed, all I know is that this city wasn't meant to exist in the first place. I checked the Google map when we arrived, and I couldn't find Holm City on it. Something or someone must have lured us to this place” Chester said.
“ When you checked, why didn't you inform us?!” I yelled.
“ Uh! Because you were too busy hating on me, mom and dad weren't even home. That's when everything started, that's when I was sure something's wrong with this City” Chester replied.
“ I like this kid, you're Chester, right? ” my inner consciousness spoke to Chester after taking possession of my body.
“ Fuck! I will never get used to that. Anyway, Charlie, have you ever thought of asking this draugr why it chose you as its vessel,” Chester asked.
“ No” I replied. '
“ You want to know why I selected her? ” it said.
“ She harboured a lot of hatred in her heart and I feel some kind of connection with her,” it replied.
“ I see, ” Chester said, staring at it, it smirked and began to laugh.
' Don't touch him' Charlie said to it
' don't worry, I don't intend to touch him' it replied
' Why did you change your mind?' Charlie asked. It smiled and said' because he's very useful, and he's Ill fated anyway, I'm not the one who's going to kill him'
' What do you mean?!' Charlie yelled.
' It's not something anyone can prevent, not even you, Charlie' it said.
“Ahem. Uh, let's just try to escape from this city” Chester said.
“ That won't be possible, the thing about this curse is that no one can come into the city and no one can leave the city” it said to Chester
“ So how are we going to survive this? ” Chester asked.
“ The only way is to find out the cause of this curse,” it replied.
“ Yes, if we can find out the reason for this curse then we can find a solution and lift the curse,” Chester said, with a bright smile on his face.
“ But we have to survive first,” Charlie said, staring at Chester.
“ Yeah, we will,” Chester said, his hand on Charlie's shoulder.
“ I will help you both survive,” It said.
“ And why should we trust you?” Chester asked.
“ You should trust me, I'm the only source of strength you and your sister have right now, As you said, those things don't die,” it replied.
“ Alright, Charlie,” Chester said, handing a rifle to Charlie.
“ I don't know how to,” Charlie said, but Chester insisted I take it and I did.
“ It might be useful,” Chester said as he left the room and I followed.
“ We've got enough food, especially water and some useful supplies, so here's the plan,” Chester said to me.
