Narrator's POV
Josh, Maya, Elvis, Emma, and Emily were able to reach the seventh floor because of the plan Maya came up with. Elvis pecked to see if there were any Draugrs, but he didn't see anything.
“ I think the coast is clear” Elvis said, Josh nodded and turned to the girls,“ it's free let's … ” before Josh could complete his sentence, Emma slumped to the floor, she was breathing heavily, her face was freakishly pale, and she had sweat all over.
“ Emma, what's wrong?” Maya asked as she and Emily helped her up.
“ Let's stay in a room for now,” Josh said as he signaled for Elvis to move. They all ran towards the first room they could find as soon as everyone entered, Josh locked it and he and Elvis pushed the cupboard and blocked the door with it.
Maya and Emily rushed Emma to the bed and laid her on it then Maya checked Emma's temperature and her temperature wasn't high it was cool like a corpse's temperature. ' That's weird, why is she sweating then' she thought, Maya checked her heartbeat and her heart wasn't beating fast it was slower than normal, and she was getting paler every second.
“ What's wrong with her?” Emily asked as she held on to Emma's left hand, but she noticed blood stains on Emma's sleeve, she rolled up Emma's sleeves and saw a huge bite mark, Emily's eyes widened.
“ Emma has been bitten!” Emily slightly yelled as she moved backwards, slowly stepping away from Emma's body. Emma shook her head, mumbling the word 'No' and begged Emily and Maya not to leave her side.
“ It's okay, Emma, it's okay, please calm down” Maya said, trying to calm Emma down, knowing very well that nothing is okay.
“ Josh, please once I transform, and I try to harm any of you don't hesitate to kill me” Emma said as tears fell down her cheeks and Josh slowly nodded.
“ Emma nothing will happen to you, don't say that” Maya said with an assuring tone.
Suddenly, Emma's nose began to bleed, Josh quickly pulled Maya away from Emma and stood firm with his bat in his hands waiting for her to transform. After her nose bleed, Emma blacked out, she looked dead.
“ Is she dead?” Emily asked,
“ I don't think so” Josh replied, and he was right Emma's body began to move itself in an odd manner,her skin turned necrotic black and her eyes turned completely white, it wasn't Emma anymore, it didn't look like Emma at all. It jumped off the bed.
“ Ahhh!” Emily screamed and that caught the Draugrs attention, it then ran towards Emily, but thankfully, Elvis swiftly used his bat to bash its head really hard. Although, its head turned backwards, that didn't stop it, since its head was turned backwards, it could only see Josh and Maya,' Fuck! That didn't work' Elvis thought, it turned its body to the direction its head was and ran towards Josh and Maya, Josh immediately spotted the wooden chair beside him and blocked it from reaching them.
“ Someone open the window! ” Josh yelled, since Emily was the only one kind of close to the window, she stood and rushed towards it, The draugr seem to have understood what Josh was planning to do so it left Josh and ran after Emily, Emily slumped to the floor as the draugr almost grabbed her, but Elvis used the other wooden chair in the room and blocked it.
' Damn! This thing is strong' Elvis thought. The draugr was struggling to set itself free, but Elvis didn't let it.
“ Emily, snap out of it and open the fucking window !” Elvis ordered, Emily came back to her senses and stood up, she ran to the window and opened it.
“ Alright! Someone should get this thing off, it's fucking strong I can't hold it much longer” Elvis yelled, Josh dropped the chair in his hands and took the bedsheet, rolled it and covered the mouth of the draugr pulled it away from Elvis and pushed it towards the window. When he reached the window, he was about to push it, but his skin made contact with its skin and suddenly, he saw Emma begging him not to push her.
“ Emma ?” He called, he obviously looked lost, almost letting go of the bedsheets he used to cover its mouth.
' Huh! It's trying to trick him' Maya thought.
“ Hey! Josh stop, it's deceiving you,” she yelled' I can't believe I'm saying this, but I have to' she thought.
“ E-E-Emma is dead. Just push it already” Maya yelled again, trying her very best not to cry. Josh came back to his senses and said,“ I am sorry, you did make me promise to kill you once you transform and a promise is a promise” and he pushed it.
“ Damn, that was crazy” Elvis said as he sat on the floor. Emily couldn't help but cry, and Maya tried calming her down. Josh just kept staring out the window,' although the thing tried to trick me, I really felt like Emma was standing right in front of me' he thought.
“ Those things are intelligent, alright,” Josh said.
“ And freakishly strong” Elvis complained while he laid on the floor.
“ And they have supernatural abilities” Maya added and realization hit Josh.
“ Guys, we have to leave this room as soon as possible, we can't stay here,” Josh said as began to pull the Cupboard away from the door and signaled for Elvis to help him.
“ Huh? Why? ” Maya asked as she helped Emily up.
“ You know we were able to escape because of the foam from the fire extinguisher. That foam won't last for long and once it does disappear, since they are smart, I'm sure they know we went down the stairs. They will definitely come after us” Josh said, after he and Elvis finally pulled the cupboard away.
' Josh is right, and it seems we would have to continue with what we have been doing since we don't know any weaknesses of theirs' Maya thought.
“ If that is the case, then I just have to do the same thing I have been doing,” Maya said with a smirk on her face.
“ Well that's the only option we have, since we can't fight it head on, we just have to make sure they can't see us let's go” Josh replied with a nod, he unlocked the door and opened it. And all of them walked out.
Emily didn't seem to be taking the fact that she watched her friend die, really well,' I'm really useless, Josh, Maya, and Elvis all have something they know they can do, Josh's wits and strength, Elvis seems to do everything out of impulse, but he's still pretty good at trying to survive, Maya being the leader and coming up with plans, that's no surprise, since she's our class representative and one of the top ten students at our school but me I couldn't even protect my best friend, Heck. I couldn't protect myself. I'm so useless' she thought and stood behind without moving, Maya turned and noticed Emily was lost, and she decided to walked back to her.
“ Emily? Is everything okay?” Maya whispered.
“ Yes I am, let's go,” Emily replied, sharply, before walking away. ' She's sad Emma died, that's understandable' Maya thought as she followed.
