Doula walked in the cold weather to her house. She had been given a job which she was happy about, but she felt hurt seeing her best friend leave. “It's time to get back with my uncle,” She said to herself. Smiling, she remembered when her parents left for the north, leaving her to be by her uncle's side. “Both father and mother like Kailua, but my Uncle doesn't,” She said to herself. Getting to the house, she pulled off her sandals before entering the house. She walked to her cabin and got herself some fruits which she placed on a tray and sliced, taking some parts and keeping the other parts away. She added some cheese to the fruit and poured herself a drink. She placed the tray on the table and sat comfortably switching on the television as she watched a scary movie. ........... “Kailua, how does it feel to be apart from your best friend?” A lady asked Kailua as they stood by the bus terminal. “I have chosen my part,” Kailua said. “Why don't you bring her with you so that you can continue your friendship?” The lady asked. “She has a promising future, and I don't want her to defeat that,” Kailua said. The elder who was with them clasped her hands together. “You also have a promising future,” She said. “Why do you want to give it away?” “It's my choice, whereas I still have my future intact,” Kailua said. “I can't say this is a wrong choice.” Their bus arrived at the terminal, and Kailua sighed, looking everywhere. “I will miss here for a while,” She said. “We don't miss as our mission might be here.” The elder said. “Alright,” Kailua said nodding. “Now hop into the bus,” The elder said and she obeyed. Her box was taken to the boot while Kailua sat in the bus. Minutes later, the bus was already loaded, and everyone was seated. The doors were closed and the windows locked. The air-conditioner was switched on, and the breeze circulated everywhere. The bus began to move as they all chatted happily. Kailua who sat beside her friend Meni, picked her cheese and began eating. “Wow, the rain was surplus,” Meni said, and Kailua nodded. “Yes, it really was,” Kailua said chewing on her cheese. Suddenly, Meni looked down sad. “What's up?” Kailua asked seeing her friend's mood. “I am only thinking of how sad your friend will be knowing that she can only meet you once a year,” Meni said. “And your sister.” “My family already should be used to not seeing me, and that includes Nisha,” Kailua said, and Meni nodded. “Your best friend?” Meni asked. “She is going to get over it soon,” Kailua replied. “I made sure she got a job before I left. I want the best for her.” Meni smiled looking at her friend. “Right, that's great.” She said. “Making her get a job so she won't cry her eyes out.” They both laughed at this. “Hello everyone,” The announcer said, and they all kept quiet. “For anyone who is just joining us at our station, you will need to meet with the boss.” Kailua knew that it also applied to her as it was her first time following them to where they were stationed. Getting to a large gate after more than five hours, the gate opened and Kailua was amazed at this site. Noticing her amazement, Meni tapped on Kailua's shoulder. “Over there,” She said pointing forward. “This is where we station, we have more than twenty thousand rooms in here.” The surprise look on Kailua's face made Meni smile. “That's how wealthy our lady is.” She said, making Kailua gasp. “Wow!” Kailua said as the bus came to a halt. “Alright, you may leave.” The doors of the bus were opened, and they all got out. “If you are new here, come with me,” A man said. Kailua looked at Meni who nodded her head. Entering a room, she saw a woman who was arrayed like a queen seated. “Let them all in,” She said, and the new girls, including Kailua, were pushed in, and the door closed. The woman didn't take their time as she just asked about them and their life outside the station. Kailua thought about how a place as large as this would be called a station. “When you all get out of here, you will be given a key to your room, which is where you will always take your rest whenever you aren't busy.” The woman said and sent them away. Taking her key, Kailua trailed looking for the room with the number on the key. “Kailua!” She heard someone call her along the way and sighed seeing Meni. “Let's help you look for your room,” Meni said. They strolled through the first floor and then the second floor. “That is your room,” Meni said, pointing to a room, and Kailua smiled. “Where are you going?” Kailua asked. “Out,” Meni replied. “May I follow you?” Kailua asked. “I will quickly get to my room to keep in my load.” Smiling, Meni shook her head. “Our ritual here doesn't allow it,” She said. “As a new person here, you will take a week's rest before joining us.” “Alright, that's cool,” Kailua said, turning to her room door. “Anyway, here is my room,” Meni said, pointing to a door that was just three doors away from hers. “Alright, see you in the evening,” Kailua said and Meni smiled. Turning to her room, Kailua saw a girl standing in front of her. She has heard of the girl but has only seen her in pictures. The girl was always referred to as a grumpy little fellow. “Hi, little one,” Kailua said bending down, but the girl walked away. “Manners, where are my manners?” Kailua asked herself. How quickly could she forget what they were taught, which is to always respect their seniors even though they are older? “I am your master,” She heard and turned back.
