Getting home, Doula walked to the couch and laid her head to take some rest. “Doula!” Kailua called. “I will be out soon.” “Alright, don't be long.” She said. Immediately Kailua left, she got up to her feet. She could not believe that her friend would go behind her back to get a job. That was not really what hurt her but the fact that Kailua hid it from her for so long. “Does she think of me as a fool?” She asked herself. Thinking about it, she shook her head vigorously. “She may have wanted me also to begin my job hunt before she lets me know.” She said, trying to console herself. Looking up to the ceiling, she thought about the reason her uncle didn't like Kailua. “She has always been good to me ever since.” She said to herself. Minutes later, the door flung open and Kailua entered. “The queen is awake.” She said, and Doula smiled, looking at her friend's hand. “You got something?” Doula asked. “Yes, this is the only way I can support you.” She replied. “You've done enough,” Doula said, taking the polythene from Kailua's hand. “Alright.” She said walking to the couch. Putting in all the fruits in the polythene on the cabin, Doula turned to her friend. “You actually do a lot to support me.” She said. “I know, but there is a lot I need to do,” Kailua said, and she smiled. “I will be going home this evening.” She said and Doula looked sadly at her. “I really will miss you,” Doula said. “I will just cuddle on my pillow this evening.” Kailua smiled upon hearing this. “I also will miss you, but I have a lot to do, I will be back as fast as you know.” She said. “Alright, I will be expecting you tomorrow,” Doula said. “Right, I will be here in the afternoon.” She said. “Let's begin,” Doula said holding up a gamepad. With a smile, Kailua picked up her gamepad. Doula had always proven to be game-worthy whenever they played, and this made her proud of her friend. They began playing their game until they were tired. Kailua paused, pressing her lips against each other. “Let's eat some fruit.” She said, and Doula nodded. “That will be cool,” Doula said as she walked to get some fruits. She washed them with water and placed them on a tray, placing a knife also on the tray. She walked to take a seat beside Kailua. Looking at the knife, Kailua looked at Doula who also looked at her and smiled. “Have this,” Doula said placing a plate in front of her friend. They ate the fruit and Doula washed up. “Doula!” Kailua called when she saw her friend finish washing. “Yes, Kailua.” She replied. “Come sit,” Kailua said pointing to her side. Doula sighed and walked up to her friend. Kailua held up her friend's wrist and looked up. “I think I can't stay with you for long.” She said. “Why, Kailua?” Doula asked. “I don't know for now.” She said. “Alright, I would like you to stay a little while with me,” Doula said softly and Kailua nodded. Looking at the time, Kailua got up looking at Doula. “I will need to leave for now.” She said and left. Doula waved to her friend who walked out. Not being able to see her friend anymore, Doula sat feeling sad. She turned on the television and changed the channel to one showing her favorite movie. It was the only thing that kept her company whenever Kailua wasn't home with her. Suddenly, her phone began ringing, and she answered the call with a smile on her face. “Hello!” She said answering the call. “Is this Doula Soma?” The person asked. “Yes, I am.” She replied. “You applied for the post of an accountant today?” The person said, and she nodded. “Yes, I did.” She said. “You are required to come for an interview tomorrow by nine a.m.” The people said. With a smile on her face, as the call ended, Doula screamed out happily. She dialed Kailua's number to inform her about what happened, but the call wasn't going through. “What's up with Kailua?” She asked herself. “I think I will need to go visit her.” Getting up, she walked to her room and changed into a casual wear. Walking out of the house, she closed the door and walked away. “Kailua!” She called knocking on Kailua's house door. The door opened and Kailua's sister's face popped out. “Just hold on. I will inform her of your presence.” The girl said and left the door open. She walked back to the door with Kailua who looked sick. “Why are you here?” Kailua asked. “I have a good news,” Doula said. “Which is?” “I got the job,” Doula said happily. “But it's so fast.” “You have always been a good student at the university.” Kailua said with no emotion. “Kailua, I was thinking of staying with you tonight.” She said. “No,” Kailua said shaking her head. “I have a lot to do.” “You've been saying that ever since.” She said. “You haven't allowed me to enter your room even though I want to, what are you hiding?” “I am hiding nothing, and you should know that I will allow you in when the time comes,” Kailua said. “You should go home.” Doula nodded looking at her friend's pale face. “Alright, I believe you,” She said. “I will go home now.” Kailua smiled seeing her friend leave. “You should never know of what has become of me,” She said to herself. “I did it all for our protection.” Doula, who was walking home, shook her head, thinking of Kailua's pale face. “I might have disturbed her sleep.” She said opening her door. She took some food and ate before going to her room. “I will miss you.” She said raising all the curtains. She walked to her bed and lay cuddling upon her pillow.
