Chapter 17 We love you too

Jonathan then gestures towards outside. “Come see it then.”
They both walk out of the house and go to where the truck is parked.
When they get there, Dawson’s eyes widen in surprise at the sight of his truck. It was completely fixed! He looks at their son in shock. “How did you do it?”
Jonathan shrugs nonchalantly. “Easy.”
Dawson laughs suddenly at his son’s response, remembering how he had teased him earlier. “I guess it was easier than I thought.”
Jonathan grins again, happy his dad had teased him back.
They stand there for a few minutes, admiring the truck.
“Thanks for fixing it,” Dawson finally tells him gratefully.
Jonathan smiles softly again too at his thanks. “No problem, Dad.” He had wanted to help his dad.
Dawson beams back too at his son’s kind words. “I am glad you are my son,” he tells him honestly.
Jonathan glows again at his kind words. He was also glad his dad was his dad.
They both grin again, enjoying each other's company.
Dawson suddenly looks at Jonathan and then grins. “You are right,” he tells him.
Jonathan looks at him in sudden confusion. “About what?”
Dawson gestures to the truck. “That it was easier to fix than I thought.”
Jonathan laughs suddenly again at his dad’s teasing words, remembering what he had said earlier. “Well, you did think it was harder,” he points out. “That’s your problem.”
Dawson suddenly laughs too at Jonathan’s teasing words again. He hadn’t expected that. “True.”
Jonathan grins more at his agreement. “I told you so.”
Dawson rolls his eyes suddenly at his stubbornness again. “So you did.”
Iris then walks out of the house, coming up behind them. “What are you two doing?”
Jonathan turns back around and grins instantly again happily at her question. “Look at what I did!” he tells her, gesturing to his dad’s truck.
Iris gasps suddenly in surprise, not expecting to see the truck fixed. “Wow!”
Dawson looks away, suddenly shy from their praise again.
Iris beams again too. “You did a great job!”
Jonathan smiles back too at her praise. He then looks up at his dad again. “Do you agree?”
Dawson flushes suddenly at Jonathan’s question again, remembering he had agreed with his son earlier. “Yes,” he repeats firmly again.
Jonathan grins even more at his dad’s answer again. He is happy his dad agreed with him. He then beams even more at them both. “Can I go on a run now?”
Dawson immediately nods at his request again too, happy their son wanted to run with them. “Yes.”
They all head inside to get dressed and then run together.
After their run, they shower and then go downstairs to eat dinner.
After dinner, they go back upstairs to their room and fall asleep.
The next morning, Dawson gets up and walks into Jonathan’s room to wake him up.
“Wake up!” he greets. “You have to get up!”
Jonathan rolls over tiredly and blinks sleepily at his dad. “What time is it?”
“It’s 7,” Dawson answers.
Jonathan sighs and then rolls back over, closing his eyes. “I don’t want to get up yet.”
Dawson shrugs indifferently again. He doesn’t care if Jonathan wants to sleep in. “Suit yourself.”
Jonathan opens his eyes again and looks at his dad in surprise at his indifference. He then sits up suddenly. “Wait. You’re not going to make me go to school today?” he asks, doubting his ears.
He thought his dad would be furious if he didn’t go to school.
Dawson shakes his head. “No.”
Jonathan gasps at his answer again, not expecting that at all. “Why not?”
Dawson shrugs again. “Because I don’t want you to.”
Jonathan looks at his dad in shock again at his words. No one had ever told him he could do what he wanted. “Really?”
“Yeah,” Dawson repeats again firmly.
Jonathan suddenly grins again at his dad’s confirmation. “Thank you!” he then exclaims happily.
Dawson grins too at their son’s happiness. He loves seeing him happy. “You’re welcome.”
They both beam at each other, enjoying each other's happiness.
“Do you want to go get pancakes now?” Jonathan then suddenly asks excitedly. He loves pancakes.
Dawson’s eyes light up at the mention of pancakes, also loving them. He hadn’t had them in forever. “Yeah!”
Jonathan grins again. “Go tell mom! She wants to go too.”
Dawson nods and then walks back to their bedroom and knocks on the closed door. “Iris?”
Iris opens the door and then blinks up at her mate in surprise. She had forgotten to set an alarm. “Sorry. I slept in.”
Dawson instantly smiles and shakes his head, not caring she slept in. “Don’t worry about it. Jonathan wants to get pancakes.”
Iris suddenly beams again at the mention of pancakes. She loves pancakes too. “Oh, that sounds so good!”
Dawson instantly grins again too in agreement too. He is happy they can agree again. “Let’s go!”
They both step into Jonathan’s room and then walk down the stairs to go to get pancakes.
They eat pancakes for hours, savoring the sweet taste.
After eating, they go outside to play.
They play outside for hours too, enjoying their family bonding time.
Eventually, they go inside and take a shower.
After their shower, Iris goes to make dinner, while Dawson and Jonathan go to play a game on TV. They laugh and have fun together, enjoying their game time.
After dinner, they all head back upstairs to go to sleep.
The next morning, Jonathan wakes up early and gets out of bed.
He then goes into his parents’ room. “Dad!”
