Dawson sat up from the bed and looked at the full moon shining through the window. He clenched his fists. He didn’t want to shift and hurt his mate. Iris sat up beside him and put a hand on his shoulder. “Dawson, please tell me what’s wrong,” she urged worriedly. Dawson sighed and looked at her. “I… I don’t want to hurt you, Iris. I’m afraid that I’ll shift and… and lose control,” he admitted. Iris quickly shook her head with tears in her eyes. “Dawson… please don’t leave me. I don’t want to lose you again. Please,” she begged emotionally. Dawson’s heart broke when he saw her tears. He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tightly. Iris quickly wrapped her arms around him and buried her face in his chest. “I don’t want to leave you either, Iris. But I’m afraid that I might hurt you if I stay,” he said worriedly. Iris quickly looked up at him with determination in her eyes. “You won’t hurt me, Dawson. I trust you,” she said confidently. Dawson looked at her stunned. “But… I can’t control myself when I shift,” he reminded gently. Iris quickly shook her head again. “You won’t lose control, Dawson. You’re stronger than that,” she urged. Dawson looked into her eyes and saw how determined she was to stay with him. He sighed and hugged her close. “Okay… I’ll stay. But if anything happens, I want you to run away, okay?” he said softly. Iris quickly nodded. “Okay, I promise,” she replied quickly. Dawson wiped her tears away gently. “Please don’t cry, my love. Everything will be fine,” he assured. Iris sniffed and hugged him tightly. “I love you so much, Dawson,” she mumbled tearfully. Dawson held her close and kissed her forehead gently. “I love you too, my love,” he whispered. They stayed in each other’s arms, trying to enjoy every second together before the moon rose to its peak. Dawson closed his eyes as he felt the burning pain in his body. The full moon was rising, and he could feel the wolf inside him trying to come out. He gritted his teeth as he tried to hold back his shift. But the pain was getting unbearable. “Dawson?” Iris called worriedly as she shook his shoulder. “Are you okay?” Dawson clenched his jaw and nodded through the pain. “I’m… fine,” he gritted out. But before he could say anything else, the pain intensified, and he let out a pained growl. His body started shifting into his wolf form. “No… no… no…” Iris panicked as she watched Dawson shift. She quickly moved away from him, afraid that she would get hurt. Dawson could feel his consciousness fading away as the wolf took over. He let out a loud howl and looked at his mate with hungry eyes. He slowly started approaching her with his teeth bared. Iris quickly stood up and ran to the other side of the room, trying to stay away from the wolf. “Dawson! Please don’t hurt me!” she begged. But the wolf just kept approaching her dangerously. Just when the wolf was about to pounce on Iris, she quickly shifted and ran towards the door. She managed to open it just in time before the wolf caught up with her. She quickly ran out of the room and closed the door behind her, locking the wolf inside. She leaned on the door and let out a sigh of relief. At least she was safe for now. She looked back at the door with tears in her eyes, hoping that Dawson would shift back to his human form soon. She slowly slid down to the floor and stayed there, waiting for her mate to come back to her. Dawson woke up naked on the cold floor of his bedroom. He groaned as he tried to sit up and realized that he was chained to the wall. He quickly broke the chains with his Alpha strength and stood up. “Alpha! Are you alright?!” a guard called from outside the door. Dawson quickly went to the door and opened it. He saw his guards standing there worriedly. “I’m alright,” he assured. His guards looked relieved. “We heard the omega scream. We thought you might have hurt her,” one of them explained. Dawson felt guilty. “Did I? Is she okay?” he asked quickly. His guard quickly shook his head. “We don’t know, Alpha. She shifted and ran away. We didn’t see her after that,” he replied worriedly. Dawson cursed under his breath. He quickly went back into his room and got dressed. He ran out of the mansion and started looking for his mate. He knew that she must be scared and hurt. As he ran through the woods, he saw a white wolf running ahead of him. He recognized his mate’s scent and quickly followed her. He caught up with her and quickly pinned her down. “Iris!” he called worriedly. Iris whimpered and tried to struggle out of his grasp. “Iris, it’s me. It’s Dawson. Please calm down,” he urged gently. When Iris realized who it was, she quickly stopped struggling and looked up at him with fear in her eyes. Dawson felt his heart break at the sight of her scared face. He quickly hugged her and pulled her into his lap. “I’m sorry… I’m so sorry,” he apologized. Iris whimpered and buried her face into his chest. “I… was… so… scared…” she sobbed. Dawson kissed her head gently and rocked her in his arms. “I know… I know… I'm sorry,” he repeated. Iris cried into his chest for a while. Dawson held her close, trying to comfort her. After a while, she slowly calmed down and looked up at him. “I… I thought you were going to eat me,” she mumbled shakily.
