Chapter 11

Natanie approached the vast space and this time, it wasn't Dave she saw, it was Sharon.
Sharon's mind has not been at peace with Natanie's attitude towards her. It really bothered her and she intends to know where she went wrong.
As soon as Sharon caught sight of Natanie, she sighed and pulled up a small smile.
“Hey.” Sharon said as Natanie ignored her for a moment before responding.
“Hey.” Natanie said and stared intently at the vast fields.
“Are you okay?” Sharon asked and a part of Natanie cursed her unnecessary concerns.
“Yes.” Natanie said airily.
“But you don't seem okay.” Sharon said as Natanie eyed her.
“I don't get it, why do you care?” Natanie blurted.
Sharon squinted her eyes at Natanie. She couldn't just understand.
“Why do you hate me?” Sharon asked as Natanie rolled her eyes as if it wasn't obvious. But she couldn't draw a clear reason in her head.
“Because I strongly believe that I haven't wronged you in any way.” She nodded to a thought in her head. “It just happens that I flow with everyone except you.”
Natanie scoffed. “Not everyone is meant to flow with you.”
Sharon swallowed the lump in her throat, her cheeks were almost red with embarrassment.
“If there's anyway that I've wronged you, I'm sorry.” Sharon said softly. “I can't _ I can't bear the thought of knowing that I'm being sidelined.”
Sharon had felt sidelined ever since she resolved she could have died alongside her sister. She'd nursed the feeling of loneliness like a child.
The thought that she could have spent more time with her and took care of her but didn't, still haunted her. She regrets everything she didn't do and dwelled on what she could have done.
“Sidelined?” Natanie raised a brow.
“Ever since I lost my sister to cancer two years ago, I've lived to cherish moments and people. When I discovered you had a problem with me, I couldn't bear to see my sister's face every night poking fingers at me on what I did wrong. Because I failed her!” Sharon sobbed as Natanie's expression softened.
“I failed to be there for her. It's been a nightmare, that's why I don't wanna fail the people I love.” Sharon added.
It sounded weird and uncalled for to Natanie but she felt bad for her and regretful for her actions towards her.
“So I can't handle that feeling _ so I ask you Natanie, to stop. Please, your attitude towards me is unbearable for me because all I've ever wanted is to be close and be friends with you.”
“So please give me a chance to be your friend and if you don't want to, just do be a favor by not acting like a freaking plague around you.” Sharon added as she sniffled and quickly dried her tears.
Natanie pressed her lips into a thin line as she blinked severally with remorse.
“I'm really sorry about your sister.” Natanie mumbled as tears blurred Sharon's vision.
She managed to stare at Natanie through it. Then she sniffled again and walked away quickly.
Natanie nursed the thought that she had caused Sharon pain without reason. She felt stupid for acting that way towards her all along.
“I'm sorry.” Natanie mumbled after her and sighed.

Isabelle puffed out smoke from her cigarette and waited for Fred to approach her. They have been meeting secretly.
“Hello Isabelle.” Fred greeted, as he took off his sunglasses.
“Hi.” She said as he pecked her cheeks. Isabelle looked around, conscious of anyone seeing them together.
“You look disturbed.” Fred noted.
“Yes.”
“What's wrong?” He asked.
“Something that's not good for me.” Her nose twitched.
“What could that be?” Fred drew closer to her.
“I'm starting to think that Dave is interested in Natanie, your girlfriend.” Isabelle blurted.
Fred furrowed his brows. “You're sure about that?”
“Of course I am, with the way he looks at her, the way he talks to her and he was even curious why you both had a fall out before.” She looked away from him and sighed nervously.
“But, do you know if Natanie is also interested in him?” That's all he cared about.
“I'm not sure, it almost looks like she is.” Isabelle said thickly.
Both of them sighed defenselessly.
“Look Fredrick, just do whatever it is you are doing to marry her quickly and as soon as possible before Dave starts to think about going near her.” She scoffed.
“Because if that happens, we both know that's not good for business.” Isabelle said, the look of desperation in her eyes.
Fred was silent for a moment, what if his plans fail? He thought. What if he ends up losing her? He couldn't bear the thought of losing Natanie for anything. He resolved to fight to get her by every possible means. He would make sure of that.
He sighed and raked his hair with his hand.
“You're right, I totally agree with you.” Fredrick frowned a little but soon leaned in closer with a mischievous grin.
“But, as much as we both want them for ourselves, doesn't stop us from being together, right?”
They both have been together for fun, dwelling on the fact that they share a certain kind of chemistry. The kind that binds not just them, but also their shared goals.
Isabelle quickly looked around to see that their environment was clear. She threw out her cigarette and smiled at Frederick. Then they both lean in further for a kiss.
“Right _” Isabelle pressed her lips against his.
