Chapter 24

The same range of tears that filled Madina's eyes, blurred Natanie's vision. And like Madina, it was also a lot for Natanie to take in. She has now discovered her family, it was a lot.
Dave watched as tears threaded down Natanie's cheeks. It was as if he could testify how she battled for balance, reality and acceptance.
Then she stared into his eyes, it felt like solace, so she stared deeper.
But for Dave, looking into her tear filled eyes was breaking his heart and it tortured him.
“I know who I am.” She blurted out of the blue, and he just studied her face in silence.
His silence made her want to bit her lip so hard.
“On papers.” He spoke softly. “What about your heart, do you know?”
His words sank deep in her heart and over her shoulders, Dave watched Kingsley approach her with a bit of uncertainty.
Natanie was all grown up now, Kingsley thought.
Dave rested back his gaze on Natanie. “Someone is here for you.” He said calmly. “Your father.” He added.
Natanie bit her lip to stifle her emotions, then she turned slowly and met Kingsley's eyes. Her father. An unsure smile lay await at the corner of her lips and in the same vein, a crazy rush of dwindling emotions.
“I know you must have so many things to say, so many questions to ask and so many doubts?” Kingsley began. “And I also know that it's not easy to believe everything you've seen and found out all at once. Everything that happened in the past was not supposed to have happened and I'm truly sorry about that Natanie. I hope you forgive me for not being there for you as your father all these years.” Kingsley said and paused his lips, his gaze still on his daughter.
And when she swallowed the lump in her throat, her heart skipped as she slightly trembled.
“I'm sorry.” He added.
A part of her seem to bleed and she wasn't sure if it was her heart.
She parted her lips. “Indeed you weren't there when I needed you, you weren't there when I needed a father and it's been hard growing up much alone and not realizing how defenseless I've been all along.” She paused for a moment.
“I really cannot tell my emotions apart. I can't say I'm happy and I can't say I'm sad but…” She said and bit her lip. “I just want to say.. thank you for being here now.” She breathed out as she moved to embrace her father.
After all these years of searching, worthwhile seemed to be the word Kingsley dwelt on. A lone tear found a path and rolled down his cheek.
“I'm really sorry and I'm really grateful to you for accepting me.” He muttered under his breath and held her close to him.
Amongst other things she felt, relief was one of them. She closed her eyes and then after a moment, opened them and her gaze rested on Madina who stood drained behind her father.
“Madina?” Natanie whispered as she slowly pulled away from her father.
She slowly moved past him a bit and then stopped on her tracks.
All these years living in absolute pain and loneliness, never figured that her only reason for being that broken was close to her yet she didn't know it.
But of course, they shared a strange connection but for Madina, it wasn't enough to depict the overwhelming loss of a precious gift.
“You're my daughter.” Madina mumbled and blinked back her tears.
Natanie did the same. “You're my real mother.” Natanie said in a hushed voice.
They were both eager to run into each other's embrace. There was nothing more to say and nothing more to explain. They both looked like they have both waited and wished for that moment their entire lives.
Madina looked sappy. “Come give your mother a hug, will you?”
Natanie didn't even bother to hesitate. She hurriedly ran into Madina's open embrace as they both held each other tightly.
Kingsley smiled and moved to join the reunion.
Their whispers and chuckles resonated deep within Dave as he watched the family in totally amusement.

Isabelle approached Natanie. She hesitated for a moment before she finally decided she was going to follow her plans. She felt a slight ache in her head for a moment before she shook it away and blinked severally. She slowly walked up to Natanie.
“I heard the news that you've found your real parents.” Isabelle said to Natanie who was standing almost at the exit of the Dance Palace. “It must be fulfilling.” She added.
“It is.” Natanie said calmly and focused fully on Isabelle. She looked stolid.
Isabelle nodded slightly. “I'm glad you've found solace.”
“I have.” Natanie responded.
Isabelle exhaled and grimaced. “I'm really sorry for not being there for you as your best friend, to help you and be there for you through all of that.”
“Are you still my best friend? Because as far as I know, I seemed to be your enemy.” Natanie said and folded her arms across her chest.
“But you're not!” Isabelle said abruptly and nodded slightly. “We're still good friends, and I'm sorry for everything.”
“Really? You are?” Natanie asked. “I hope you won't turn out weird again?”
Isabelle shook her head as Natanie shrugged.
“It's all good. It's so good to see you around again.” Natanie said and smiled at her friend. She swiftly tapped Isabelle's arms in assurance and slowly walked away.
Isabelle stared after her. “Enjoy best friend, it won't be long.” She said slyly
