Chapter 27

“Whoa.. that's huge. That must be a fair warning.” Sharon said with twitching eyebrows.
“I know it's absurd but getting this kind of warning?” Natanie said nervously.
Sharon sighed and when she looked over Natanie's shoulders, she caught sight of Isabelle who looked like she was at war with herself.
Sharon looked back at Natanie. “Maybe Isabelle wrote the letter.”
Natanie raised a brow. “Isabelle?”
Sharon shrugged. “I mean, Dave is her boyfriend so she might have...”
“By threatening me?” Natanie almost snapped as Sharon pressed her lips into a thin line.
Natanie sighed. “Oh Sharon, I don't know.” She bit her lip and briskly walked away.
Sharon furrowed her brows at the sight of Isabelle talking with some people, if anything, Sharon was almost convinced Isabelle was innocent.
“If not Isabelle, who else?” Sharon mumbled to herself.
Then she followed Natanie outside the building.
Natanie stood motionless, her eyes rested on the fields and the unusual feeling she nursed defined her features.
Sharon walked up to her slowly and studied her friend, ‘she looks terrible’ she concluded and allowed an obvious frown rest at the corner of her eyes.
She didn't know what to do or say but it was extremely glaring that a little warning note went as far as influencing Natanie's thoughts and decisions.
“Are you okay?” Sharon asked.
“Like I'm supposed to be heartwarmed after the tremendous note?” Natanie almost snapped at Sharon.
Sharon sighed and looked away, she understood Natanie's situation.
“I'm not traumatized though.” Natanie blurted, buying back Sharon's unsettled gaze.
“You're not?” Sharon spoke softly as Natanie gave her a trivial look.
Sharon new what that look meant, she was unsure.
“Do you regret it?” Sharon asked. “Do you regret kissing Dave?”
Natanie swallowed the lump in her throat and then again, reality struck Natanie.
What had she done? Something pierced her heart and made it pound heavily against her chest.
Natanie parted her lips to say something but closed it. She does. She blinked back something in her eyes.
“Let me be frank Sharon, I regret.” She said as though it was the most difficult thing to say.
Dave pulled up slowly from behind them, and a lone tear laid await at the corner of Natanie's eyes.
Dave watched from behind, he looked dazed.
Natanie nodded slightly at Sharon. “I do regret kissing Dave.” She said as Dave swallowed hard.
Something stabbed his heart more times than he was comfortable admitting.
“It was so ordinary, it meant absolutely nothing to me. I wished it it never happened.” Natanie mumbled as the tear that laid await, threaded down her cheek.
She thought of the probable chaos that laid await as a result of her actions and bit her lip.
“I should never have kissed him.” She muttered under her breath.
Dave felt dismayed and he was backing off slowly, refusing to accept the sore truth she'd confessed to.
All the while, he had thought wrong. He actually thought that her kisses had meant that she had feelings for him. He had gotten his hopes too high, he never knew it was ‘ordinary’ to her.
Well, compared to her, he finally got to attach some level of significance to it. He bit his lip and briskly walked away as if taking back every bit of a chance he'd given.
Sharon shook her head at Natanie. “Don't say it like that, it must have happened for a reason.”
Natanie shook her head. “No.” She lied. “But perhaps, if there's anything such as a reason, and probably until it presents itself, I have to stay far away from Dave because I just can't bear the thought of losing my parents again.”
She stared at Sharon with clouded eyes. “I hope you can understand.”

Isabelle paced nervously in her room. She thought about the note she had written to Natanie. She had given her an ultimatum.
She ran her hands through her hair and then grinned maniacally at an afterthought. She dialed Cathera's phone and soon glued her phone to her ear. Cathera picked up on the third ring.
“Yes? Who's this?” Cathera said into the phone.
“Hello there ma'am?” Isabelle greeted as Cathera recognized her voice.
“Isabelle?”
Isabelle nodded. “Right, this is Isabelle.”
“How have you been? How's Natanie?” Cathera asked eagerly thinking they were still close friends.
“Well I'm fine, and Natanie is fine too especially now that she's found her real parents.” Isabelle blurted.
Cathera scoffed. “What do you mean by her real parents?”
Isabelle rolled her eyes. “It turns out Madina and a man named Kingsley are her real parents.”
“What? What sort of nonsense is that? How long has it been?” Cathera asked hurriedly.
Isabelle bit her lip and twirled the tip of her hair around her finger. “A while.”
Then Isabelle stopped on her tracks and wondered about Cathera's silence.
“Aren't you happy?” Isabelle asked slyly.
“Should I be?” Cathera infused.
Isabelle nodded in satisfaction. “Oh well, I have no idea if you should or shouldn't be happy. I just wanted to let you know just in case you have plans.”
Cathera snorted as Isabelle smiled and hung up the phone.
