It's been my fourth day in this prison, it feels like my world has automatically come to an end, I can't believe that I'll ever get to see myself here, Jerome, serving his time in the prison, life has just been a mess and I have no future outlook towards it, I am now living in my present and past, not thinking about anything or when I will leaving, it's all blank, like it's a game over for me, just have to accept it the way I saw it. I haven't really been spending any of my time around my cellmates, I'm always sitting apart on my own, when we're having our meals, when we're doing the prison works, when we're hanging out on the prison space, I'm just alone, always sitting at a corner and just thinking. Daniel and Marie are not mine, how's that possible?, How can that be?, I was there when they came into my wife's womb, I was there to look at them grow inside her, I was there when they were given birth to, how's that possible that they're not my children?, What if Ryan was mistaken?, Did he really verify well?, Does that mean that ever since I was married to Jessica, she has been living this life and I never know?, How did it all go wrong?, Why is this happening to me?, Why can't I understand which is the truth and which isn't?. “ Hey..... The warden is asking for you.” A prison guard was standing right in front of me, he commanded me to follow him to go see the warden. I didn't hesitate, I no longer hesitate for anyone, ever since Drew almost crushed my palm, I no longer take commands as a joke. He asked me to head in into the Warden's office, as we were now standing outside, the door dividing our presence and that of the Warden's office. “ Hey.... Jerome right?.” He asked. I just nodded my head, agreeing with him, he asked me to have a sit, I just took the seat before me and sat down, he was standing by the window, looking outside, down to the prisoners outside. After few seconds or almost a minute if I was counting, he turned around, eyes staring at me and hands placed behind his back. “ Heard you're new to my prison....” he said, making me look up at him because I was staring down already, submitting to his powerful presence. “ I don't usually have a one and one talk with my prisoners, but you, you seem like the interesting type, have heard a lot about you....” “ They're all lies Sir!....” I countered immediately, eyes staring down, showing him that I wasn't challenging, rather speaking to have my own back. “ Are they?..... Then Ryan was telling me lies and I happened to believe him....” I was confused, which Ryan?. I looked at him again, just staring, nothing leaving my lips. “ Incase you're wondering who I'm talking about, Ryan is also my personal lawyer, looking by his top status, I don't know how you managed to acquire him, but he said he was also your lawyer, making you his client....” “ I'm sorry Sir, I apologize for speaking faster and not waiting to listen, I believe what he did tell you were all truth....” I pleaded, trying to convince him that Ryan was definitely not lying, I thought he was trying to talk about my drinking and driving, as well as my addiction towards alcohol. He was just staring down at me, maintaining his cool, hands still relaxing on his back, he's possibly around his middle fifties or late fifties. “ Anyways, he didn't say much though, told me that private stuff should be kept between him and you as his client, so I decided to bring you close and hear what you have to say about yourself.....” He now took a seat opposite me, the table separating us, his knuckle holding his jaw in place as he sat comfortably with with weight all relaxing on his left hand side. “ There's nothing to tell Sir, it's just a past that should never be remembered.....” I explained in a low tone, letting him know how the memories hurt. I can see him nodding his head in agreement, signalling that he does understand what I am trying to say, but his eyes never left my face. “ What about your first day here?, I heard you were sent to the clinic for passing out unconscious, are you sick?.....” “ No Sir, I don't know what actually happened or how it got to happen, but all I remember was Ryan informing me that my kids are not mine, my wife has been sleeping with another men inside our marriage.....” The warden burst out of laughter, you can tell that he was trying to control it, but he just found the information too funny. If not for the fact that I have no freedom in here, I could've just stood on my feet and walk out of here, I thought he was a responsible and understanding Man, but I just found out he's a clown. “ I'm sorry.... No hard feelings for my laughter, it was just funny.....” He apologized, still can't hide the laughter, I was just staring at him blankly, regretting why I even had to share that information with him, could've just sealed my lips shut. Anger was burning inside me, felt like flame was coming out on top of my head, but I just seemed to numb it all in and hope that I can hold it until I am out of here. “ Anyways, Ryan came to me today, said he has a News for you but can't tell you himself, he needed my help for this, telling me that he couldn't watch your reaction, so I called you here to share the information with you....” I looked up, looking into his feature, Waiting for him to share the news with me, I am eager to hear them, I just wish it's something to do with him confirming that it was a mistake, that my children are actually mine. “ Your parents are dead, they died in a car accident....”
