Enid stands there with her hands on her waist. Her eyes regard me with annoyance in them as she looks at the phone that is on my ear. I slowly bring it down while Theo is still talking and hang up. She walks towards me and stands in front of me. She still hasn't said anything. She looks at me and then at the phone in my hand before taking a deep breath. "Who are you talking to?" I move to the side a little and look behind her. She left the door open. "No one. I wasn't talking to anyone." I say standing up and moving away from her became of how close she was. "Yes you were, I heard you. I'm not deaf." Her annoying voice shrills. "You were talking to Beth, right? That's why you hung up." I sigh internally relieved that she thought I was talking to Beth instead of Theo. "I wasn't talking to Beth, Enid." I roll my eyes, leading her on. "Liar!" She shouted. "I told you to stay away from that whore, but you refuse. I'll make sure to rip her hair out when I see her." I roll my eyes again. "You have absolutely no right to do that, Enid. You're nobody to me, you have no right to tell me what to do." I say, before turning around to head back to my room. "No." She grabs my hand to stop me. "I'm bethroted to you, so I have a right to say that. I have a say in what goes on in your life." I just sigh and shake my head again to head back toy room. "Do you remember that today's my parent's anniversary party and you're my date?" She says and I squeeze my face because I had forgotten. "Suit yourself Enid. I can't go today, I'm really busy." As I say this, my parents both walk down the stairs to the living room and I sigh knowing what was coming next. "Hello, Mr and Mrs. Young " Enid greets them with a sickly sweet smile on her face looking all innocent. "Hello Enid, how are you today?" My mother asks as she hugs her. "I'm doing well, ma'am." My father comes to stand beside my mother as they look between us. "So, what's going on?" My mother asks us, regarding what we were talking about. "Well, I was reminding Ted about my parent's anniversary dinner today, but he said he is busy so he can't come." She says trying to sound sad. "Oh, that's nonsense. Ted doesn't have anything to do today. He's just been sitting around all day, I'm sure he can go with you, right Ted?" My mother says, widening her eyes at me, trying to get me to agree. "But mom, I'm really busy tonight." "I'm sure what ever you're busy with can be postponed with out any problem." My father chips in. I look between my parents who were watching me with stern eyes and Enid who was looking hopeful. They were corneringe till I had no choice but to accept. "Fine." I sigh. "Just givee a few minutes to get ready." I say and Enid jumps up in excitement as I drag myself up the stairs to my room. I enter into my room and walk straight to my closet. Not caring about looking too good, I pick out a black three piece suit. I take off my former clothes and quickly slip on the suit. I comb my hair and put on a watch and wear my shoes. I look in the mirror and when I feel I look mundane enough, I walk out of my room. I stand on the stairs where they can't see me and watch them. Enid is seated on the couch, having a conversation with my parents as they laugh. Enid irritates the hell out of me with her bitchy behavior and whiny voice. She's a spoilt brat. Ugh.. I really don't know what they see in her. I walk down the stairs and when they noticed me, they stand up. Enid runs to me and clings to my arm. "Wow.. you look so nice in this suit." She says as her eyes scan my body. I didn't even try. "Thank you." I clear my throat and look forward. "Shall we?" I say gesturing to the door. She smile still clinging to my arm as we walk towards the door. "Goodbye, Mr and Mrs. Young " She waves at them. "Bye, love. Have lots of fun." My mom says to her. "I sure will." She says back as I closed the door. Immediately my parents are out of our aight, I push her arms off of mine and walk ahead of her. She stands there pouting, thinking that I would care, but I just walk to my car and start it, waiting ofr her to come in. I drive out of the gate and towards the venue for the party. Enid tries to make small talk through out the drive, but I just ignore her. I really wasn't in the mood. "So, Ted. How was your day?" She says leaning towards me over the console. I ignore her. She tries again, bit I stay true to my decision of remaining quiet. We finally reach the venue for the party and the valet comes to collect the keys as we get out. Enid puts her arm into mine as we walk up the stairs and I just let her do what she wanted, not wanting to embarrass her in front of other people. We finally get in and she directs me to where her parents are and we greet them while I give them a forced smile and lies. After that, Enid insists on showinge to everyone, while telling them that I was her fiance. I just let her do whatever she liked, until my eyes caught someone standing in the corner. I leave Enid and walk closer to make sure I was actually seeing clearly, and I was. Standing behind a table, with his one arm wrapped around an unfamiliar woman and the other holding a champagne glass, was Mark in a brown suit.
