54: Bye, Enid.

Ted
I see Enid, my mom and Zena standing behind Enid's car with her luggage in her hand. I frown as I approach them, wondering what was going on.
"What's going on?" I ask as I dip my hands into my pocket, a clueless look on my face.
"What does it look like?" My mother snaps as they all let go of Enid's box and drop it on the floor. "You abandoned Enid at the park to go to another woman, and now she wants to go back to her parents house." My mom says and my eyes widen.
"She wants to leave?" I stare at Enid as she looks right back at me, the expression on her face looking to be between anger and deviousness.
"Yes, Ted." My sister says and my heart swells.
Thank all the gods on earth, this pest is finally getting out of my house.
The joy and happiness that engulfed my heart at the moment was like none other. The thought of Enid finally leaving my house and my life was the most appealing thing I had heard all year.
I try to hide the smile on my lips by wiping at the non existent seat on my upper lip. I make my face look like I was concerned because of my mother, but all I wanted was for Enid to leave.
"Well, I'm sorry for abandoning you at the water park, but if you're really angry, you're always free to leave." I say and my mother hits my arm.
"What do you mean by that?" She harshly whispers and drags me to a corner, while Zena tries to calm Enid down.
"Why would you tell her that? Are you aware that her parents are friends of your father and I?" She asks and I roll my eyes.
"That's why they are you friends, mom and not mine. I don't have anything to do with them or even her." I point to Enid.
"You do not have a choice, Ted. How many times do I have to let you know that? Your marriage to Enid has already been decided, so you better accept it as it is." She says pointing her finger in my face. "I don't even know what you see in that girl that you would abandon Enid and the park and follow her."
"Now, you will apologize to Enid and take her back inside and we will never talk about this matter again." She says and walks back to where Enid and Zena are standing and I sigh before I reluctantly follow her.
"Why are you acting like this, Enid?" I ask.
"How can you ask me something like that? You left me at the park to go see that stupid pole dancer and you dare ask me the reason why I'm actinh this way?" She says and I purse my lips and place my hands on my hip.
"Pole dancer? So, you mean to tell me that the girl that's causing all of these problems for my family is a pole dancer?" My mom asks and Enid nod.
I stare at her, fire burning in my eyes as I feel like strangling the life put of her. I use one of my hands to rub down my face, feeling totally done with Enid.
"Haven't I told you to stay away from that girl? Do you know that you could ruin our family's reputation if news of that ever gets out?!" She shouts.
"Mom, will you stop overreacting? There's nothing wrong Beth."
"I do not care about that, but all I'm saying is that if you don't stay away from that girl, I will make sure to make her life a living hell, so bad that she'll be the one to run away from you." She threatens.
"I'll never let you do that, mom. No matter what, I'm ready to protect the one that I love even if it's against you." I say to her before turning to Enid.
"And you, I'm actually so glad that you're leaving. You've been such a pest and it has really been an annoying time, so please kindly leave my house." I say with a tight smile and then I scoff, after thinking for a while.
"You know what? I need all of you to leave my house, right now. You all staying with me has caused me so many problems that I can't even count, so please I want all of you put of my house before the end of today."
"Are you really asking me to leave your house, Ted?" My mom asks, confused.
"Yes, mom. I'm asking you to leave. I need peace of mind, and you can take her with you." I point to Enid. "Help me pass my apologies to her parents for breaking off the arrangement, I don't really care how you do it. But of you insist on marrying me then…." I move my face close to Enid's. "...I'll make sure that you suffer so much that you'll be the one begging for a divorce."
I stand up straight and smirk at the shocked, almost sheken look on her face as I push my hands back in my pocket and walk into my house. I ignore my mother and sister's calls behind me as I climb up the stairs and go into my room.
I could hear talking coming from downstairs and myom telling Enid to calm down and that she didn't have to leave. I sigh, not wanting to go back outside to them as I really wasn't in the mood and could lash out at them unnecessarily if provoked again.
I just change my clothes into more comfy ones and jump into my bed, wanting to sleep all of my problems away.
I close my eyes, Beth's face the last thing that I imagine before falling into darkness.
*****
A loud sound jerks me awake from my sleep. I turn around and stretch my body, looking around for the source of the noise, before figuring out that it was my phone that had rang.
I pick it up to look at it and saw that I had a missed call from Mark. I scowl at it and drop it back on my bedside table before it rang again. I pick it up and the caller ID says that it is Mark. I roll my eyes before reluctantly picking the call.
"How may I help you?" I ask, the annoyance I felt clear in my voice.
"It seems like you and Beth take me as a joke, right?" He asks and my eyebrows quirk up.
"What do you mean?" I sit up on my bed.
"Did you think that I wouldn't find out that you went to Beth's house to beg her?"
I scoff. "What I choose to do or choose not to do is none of your business, Mark. I went there because I wanted to, does that have anything to do with you?"
"You're treating me like a fool, Ted. Have you forgotten what I have against the both of you?" He sneers into the phone.
"I do remember, but I don't care. Your stupid threat isn't going to make me stay away from Beth, not again. I've had enough of you and your stupidity." I say before I smile. "If it's okay with you, I'd like to hang up now. Bye." I mock him as I hang up the call.
The next thought that enters my mind is to call Beth and tell her what just happened and ask her to be safe, when my phone rings and I see Theo's name on the caller ID.
"Hey, man. What's up?" I say as I pick up.
"Hey, Ted. I'm back in town."
"Okay, that's good, I hope you enjoyed yourself."
"Yes, I did." He says, a mischievous hint in his voice. "Well, I called because my girlfriend opened her restaurant recently, so I wanted you to come and check out the place and the food."
"Oh, that's nice, man. I'd love to do that for you."
"Aw, thanks man. I appreciate it."
"There's no problem, then I'll tell you when I'm ready." I say and Theo speaks almost immediately.
"No, no. You're coming out now, get your lazy ass off of that bed and come out now." He insists.
"Dude, I'm really tired, I can't come out right now. Just give me a few hours and I'll be there."
"No, Ted. I need you to come out now. When you say a few hours, that means you might actually not end up coming today."
He says and I groan loudly.
Theo really knows me.
"Okay, fine. I'll get ready and be there in about an hour." I say.
"Okay then, I'll see you here in the next one hour. I'll text you the address." I can hear the smile in his voice as the call guys off.
It was actually a good idea to get out of the house, then I would be away from the likes of Enid and my mother.
I jump out of my bed and rush into the bathroom to get ready with a smile on my face.
