53: Explanations
Beth
The shock from seeing Ted standing in front to me has my feet glued to the ground. It's annoying but magical.
How could he possibly be here of all places?
Letting go of Celine, whose hand I was holding, I start to walk away, knowing that Ted would want to talk to me. I didn't feel like speaking to him at the moment.
He also walks away from the table where we were at and follows behind me.
"Hey, hey Beth. Wait up." I hear him call behind me, but I don't turn back.
"Beth, at least listen to what I have to say." He tries to hold unto my arm, but I pull it away and turn towards him.
"Don't you dare touch me. Keep your words to yourself, Ted. I want nothing to do with you." I sneer.
"Okay, I won't touch you, but at least listen to what I have to say."
"No." I shake my head. "I'm not going to listen to any single thing that you have to say, Ted. I've had enough of all of this, I can't take anymore of it."
"Listen to me first before you decide all of that. I left you for a reason, Beth." He says and I roll my eyes. "I'm serious. I won't just up and leave without informing you. I had something very important that I had to attend to." There is a deep frown on his face as he explains.
"I don't care, Ted. Do you know what waking up to find you gone did to me? Ted, I was hurt and dissapointed. I felt extremely lonely and unwanted. I had finally thought that I had found someone that was different form the other guys that I had met, but you prove me wrong." I scoff.
"But that's okay. You really taught me a lot of things are not what they seem."
"Please let me explain, Beth. Please." He begs.
I sigh. "Okay fine. Say whatever it is that you have to say, right now."
He sighs as he opens his mouth to say something, but I don't hear it as I am too focused on the person that is standing a bit far off, behind him.
She isn't looking in our direction, but I can never mistake her face for anyone else's. Enid stands there watching the commotion going on with Celine, and my blood begins to boil and I see red.
I turn to Ted, the expression on my face is a mix of anger and disbelief. I scoff and look away, unable to believe that after what Enid did to me, that Ted would still be with her.
I would apologize to Celine later, but for now I had to leave to avoid doing anything that I would regret. I eye Ted, a mean look in my eyes before I walk away, leaving him standing there.
I hail a cab and before Ted can reach me, I shut the door of the cab and tell the driver to drive away as fast as possible. I give him my address and rest back on the back rest.
I sigh, as tears threaten to leave my eyes, but I hold them back. I really didn't want to cry in front of the driver, or he would start to look at me weirdly.
When he gets to the front of my house, I pay him his money and rush into my house. I close the door behind me and walk towards the kitchen counter and my body sags. I suddenly feel tired.
Why did things have to turn out like this?
I close my eyes and my bag falls from.my shoulder unto my arm. Angry at Ted's audacity to come talk with me when he was with Enid, I throw my bag across the room.
I scream as I push all the things that are on the counter to the floor, hot tears rolling down my eyes. I stand back, my vision becoming blurry as my knees become weak and give way, so I fall to the floor.
Sobs escape my mouth as the tears from my face fall unto my thighs, staining my jeans. I try to stop my self by placing my hand over my mouth and biting on it, but nothing works. The sobs just keep coming out along with the tears that were streaming down my face.
Suddenly, the door bursts open and I stand up, still not facing it, because I know who it could be. I wipe the tears off my eyes and make myself look presentable before I turn back to see Ted and Celine standing there, both staring at me.
"What are you doing here?" I spat at him. "I already told you that I don't want to see you anywhere near me, didn't I?"
"Beth, please at least listen to what I have to say. I don't want this thing between us to end like this."
"There is nothing between us, Ted." I try really hard to stop the tears from dropping down my face. "Go back to Enid. It seems that you love her too much to think about anything else, so leave my house."
"No, Beth!" He shouts and I'm taken aback. "I'm not leaving till I've said what I want to, so you're going to hear me out!" He says, letting me know his thoughts.
This was the first time Ted had ever shouted at me, so it shocks me so much that I keep quiet and let him talk. I turn to look at Celine who is just standing there staring at us like we were the most interesting thing she had seen in a while.
"I really didn't want to tell you because I didn't know how to. I didn't want you to worry about anything." He sighs and puts his hands on his hips.
"Mark called me one day, and said that he wanted to see me, saying that he had something interesting to show me, so I agreed to meet up with him. I met with him and he said that I should break up with you and never show my face again, obviously I disagreed, but he then brings out his phone and shows me a video of you having sex with someone on his phone." He says and I gasp, using my hands to cover my mouth, feeling shocked and embarrassed.
I really didn't expect Mark would actually go that far. I had thought Ted just used me and left because he was bored, but I never expected that Mark would be the reason for all of this.
"He said that if I didn't leave you, that he would post the video and I didn't want that to happen to you, so I decided to do as he said, thinking that I was protecting you." He says and runs his hand through his hair.
"But I can't take it anymore. I can't stand seeing you so angry at me. I can't stand staying away from you anymore." He says, moving closer to me. "I thought that if we could fight this together, it would end better for both of us."
I feel tears leave my eyes as I walk closer to him, hugging him tightly with Celine standing in the corner, a smile on her face as she smiles at us.Download Novelah App
