45: Panic

Enid stands there at my door looking really pissed off with her hands on her hip, glaring at me. I walk past her and open my front door before stepping into the house and standing at the doorway.
"What do you want, Enid?" I ask her, really not in the mood to exchange words.
"Fuck you, for saying that. How could you be so callous to talk so rashly after what you told the news house about Ted?" She says and I look at her, surprised.
I really didn't expect the news to get out so fast.
How could she possibly have known?
"What ever I do or say isn't your business, Enid. I'm very sure you are here on your own because Ted would never send you here." I say, leaving the door open and walking into the house, then I throw my keys on the kitchen counter.
"Does it matter if Ted sent me here or if I'm here on my own? I'm his fiancee, and his wellbeing is my business." She emphasizes the last part and I roll my eyes. She walks into the house without closing the door behind her.
"Just leave my house, Enid. I'm not in any mood to talk to you." I sigh as I sit on the back rest of my couch.
"I didn't come here to just end up leaving without saying what I wanted to say."
"Okay, Enid what is it you want to say?" I say sarcastically.
"You're going to go back there to the news station and tell them that all the things you said were lies and that you only did that to spite Ted." She says and I frown.
"Why would I do that?" I scoff. "You can't just barge into my house and say what you like, and expect me to do as you say. Please leave." I stand up from where I was sitting.
Her eyes grow darker as she stared at me with pure hatred in her eyes.
"I came here hoping to have a peaceful talk ending with you doing as I say, but it seems you're not up for it. I have no choice but to teach you a lesson that you'd never forget." She says, stepping away from the front of the door, looking outside.
All of a sudden, two huge bodyguards appear from behind. Enid signals them before staring back at me, a wicked smirk playing on her face. I move back slowly, realizing what is about to happen.
Before I can think of running, one of the men kicked me in the gut which sent me flying to the ground. He stepped down on my neck, cursing me immense pain.
'Please let me survive this', I'm racked with terror.
Definitely, I'll make sure I get back at Enid if they spare my life.

~Ted Young~
My ears would probably be on the floor if the saying "talking the ears off" is real. I really don't know why my parents are still at my house, but they need to leave before I lose my sanity.
The news about Beth saying stuff about me has spread like wild fire and my parents are one of the first to hear about it. Thanks to Enid the genius, they found out that it was also the same Beth that I had beaten Mark for. They have been shouting their heads off for the past one hour and I don't know how to stop them.
At least I am thankful that Enid is no longer there to add fuel to the fire.
I am seated sprawled out on the couch, trying not to yell back at them when my phone rings. It's an unknown number calling, but I still answer.
From the voice, I realize that it is Beth's younger sister- Elle. I sigh, not wanting to talk to her, even though I know that what happened is not her fault. So I hang up.
Beth would never do something like that on her own. No matter what, I won't believe otherwise. The only person that can threaten her into doing that is Mark and he is very capable of stooping that low.
The phone continues to ring and stops and then it rings for the second time and I look up at my parents and back at my phone and decide that I'd rather talk to Beth than listen to one more second of my parent's ranting.
I press the green button, and without saying anything to them, I walk away from the living room. I press the phone to my ear and the voice I hear is not the one I expect to hear.
"Hey, Ted. I need you to come over….it's bad, it's bad, really bad." Elle sys between sobs and I can barely understand her.
"Hey, hey, Elle. You have to calm down and speak slowly, okay. Tell me what the problem is." I say and wait for her to calm down.
"It's Beth. She's in the hospital. When I got home, some guys were there beating her up, so I had to rush her to the hospital, but I don't know what to do." Elle is still sobbing hard.
I stand frozen in my spot, shocked to my bones by what Elle had just said.
What did she mean by some men?
Who could they possibly be?
"Hey, Elle, calm down, okay? I'll be right there. Don't go anywhere, I'll be there in a few minutes." I say, picking up my car keys as I dashed out of the door.
"Don't cry anymore, Beth is going to be okay? Just text me the address, okay?" I say as I get into my car and drive with as much speed as I could without getting arrested.
If Elle is crying that much, that means it is really bad. I drive, my focus on the road, hoping nothing bad would happen to Beth.
