Her classmates didn’t even congratulate her for winning the Spelling Bee! She sacrificed her sleeping time for the passed few weeks because she really wanted to win. Why does everyone like Jayden? Why does he always take the spotlight? Why does he always get all the recognition? "This is so unfair!" Emilie whispered to herself, while giving him an evil look. She can't really help herself but to feel sad because of her situation right now... She and Jayden were childhood friends, and their friendship took the wrong turn when he started getting popular on their sophomore year in high school. Her parents and Jayden's parents, Mr. John Doe and Amanda Doe are best of friends as well. They really don't know what's happening between her and Jayden, and she wants to keep it that way to avoid any questionings from their parents. The only ones who knows about her rift with Jayden are her sisters, and her girl best friend, Claire... "We knew you'd be here..." Emilie snaps out from her reverie when she heard Emilia's voice, one of the triplets in the Albreicht family. "And we can see the way you look at Jayden. If looks can only kill, he would be dead by now." added her twin sister, Emma, while giving her a teasing look. Emilie, Emilia and Emma are Trizygotic or fraternal triplets. Emilie turns around to face her sisters. "I mean what's so special about him? Why are the girls getting all crazy about him?" she started whining. "Can't you see it for yourself? I mean look at him! He's handsome, he also got brains, he'z a good guy, and he's really cool!" Emilia pointed out, while rolling her eyes heavenward. "Wait, do you have a crush on him or something?" Emilie interrogated. "My dear sister, you know he's not my type of guy." Emilia casually responded. "And you know very well that our parents and Uncle John and Auntie Mandy wants you and Jayden to get married in the future." Emma informed her. Emilie winced when she heard Emma's remark. "Oh, no no no! It will never, ever happen, not in a million years!" she angrily replied, while shaking her head wildly. "Yeah, yeah. Keep telling that to yourself." Emma giggled in return. "Cut it out, will you? Anyway, what are you both doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with Dad and Mom?" Emilie started to change the subject. "Well, Dad asked us to get you because he wants us to have a celebratory dinner at your favorite restaurant. Our dear parents are so proud they couldn't stop talking about you to our teachers." Emilia relayed. Emilie cringed at the thought of their parents being talkative to their teachers. "Okay, let's go before they can say something that can ruin my life." she said, while pulling her sisters... ================================= Meanwhile, Jayden's eyes secretly followed Emilie's every move. He saw her staring at him awhile ago as if she's casting a spell on him or something... And it only means one thing. It was obvious that she hated him to the bones... And he perfectly knows the reason why. Emilie might be thinking that he stole her spotlight away from her again. It was just pure coincidence that the Inter High Basketball Match and the Spelling Bee all happened on the same day. He didn't want this to happen. But he also feels sorry for her. Emilie always tries her hardest to become a better student, and she makes an extra effort to bring honor to their section, but it's sometimes too much. She is starting to act like a robot. She's too stiff, serious, and she's always "by the book." He's also very much aware that she has been competing with him since their sophomore year. He's been challenged by her as well. He also studied like crazy, completed his homework, participated in extra-curricular activities just to get higher grades. He believes that dedicating your time to study is not that bad, but Jayden should let her hair down once in a while... Jayden snaps out from her reverie when he heard the Vice Captain of their basketball team. "I hope you didn't forget what you promised us, Captain. You promised that once we win this game, you will treat the whole team to a pizza!" Andrew smilingly reminded him. "Of course, I can still remember it! Let me just change my clothes and then we'll go straight to Pizzeria House." Jayden smilingly responded. All of the team members cheered in return when they heard what Jayden said. They all went to the Boy's Locker Room to get dressed and go to their favorite pizza house... ============================== Later that night. "I don't understand why many girls are going crazy over Jayden Doe! I mean, what's so special about him?" Delphine said, as she talks on the phone with her best friend, Claire. Her best friend didn’t go to the Spelling Quiz Bee because she had measles, and of course, the doctor didn’t allow her to go to school as she might get the other students infected by her... "Whether we like it or not, Jayden has this natural charm. He got brains, and he is athletic. So, he's a complete and total package for girls." Claire answered from the other line. "Hmp! Don't tell me that you're attracted to him, too?" Emilie interrogated her best friend. "Of course not! You know who I really like, right?" Claire responded. "Yeah, yeah. It's none other than Jayden's best friend, Andrew..." Emilie responded, while rolling her eyes heavenward. "Yes, that's right. He might not be hugely popular to other girls, but he's cute as well." Claire dreamily stated. "Anyway, let's forget about them. Now I have to make an extra effort and study hard so that I'll be the class Valedictorian!" Emilie stated, while looking determined "But what if Jayden becomes the Valedictorian instead? What are you going to do?" curiously asks. "That's never going to happen. I'll make sure of that." Emilie clearly stated. "Don't get your hopes up, girl. We don't know what's going on with Jayden. We don't even know what he's thinking right at this very moment." Claire gives her a piece of advice. "Don't worry, I am already 8 steps ahead of him. I'll still have the last laugh." Emilie confidently answered. "Well, see about that. Anyway, I'd like to talk to you more but my Mom is here telling me to drink my medicine. I'll talk to you again tomorrow, okay?" Ashley finally said.
