"Thanks for the lunch grandma."
"You don't need to Mon. This is your home too. So how is your last visit to the clinic?"
"Were both doing well Grandma. Bunny here is very energetic and healthy."
Im at grandma's place to pay her a visit with Ran. We arrived with a basket of fruits and a bouquet of flowers for her. We just finished lunch and is having tea outside.
"How about Sam? I heard there's a bit of a problem in the company. Is she still doing her duties to you and Bunny?"
"She's a bit busy but she's still doing her best for me and Bun-bun, Grandma. Im just a bit worried since she would wake up early and sleep late these past few days."
"Neung mentioned about a project accident so she took over some works to deal with it herself. Neung is helping her so its gonna be fine soon. I'll tell her to keep it easy too."
"thanks Grandma."
"How about Diversity?"
"Were doing great. Kirk is there to oversee the team too. They are even asking me to start my maternity leave already so i wont be stressed out with work and traveling."
"Then why don't you really start it early. I mean, they are doing well with handling things in there."
"I told Sam that I'll start when i reached 7 months of pregnancy Grandma. Besides im going to be so bored at home when i start now. I'll just pester everyone when my boredom strikes during those time. So im giving you all a favor by not starting early."
We both laugh at my last comment. She's now aware that i hate staying still for long. I need something to do to keep me sane. And being in Diversity helps me a lot. Plus they already took almost 3/4s of my work, its not giving me any stress at all and traveling to work is not that long too. And i consider walking from the parking up to my office as an exercise.
Grandma and I are having a great conversation when a call from Khun Neung arrived.
"Answer it, it might be important." Grandma said before sipping her tea. I excused myself first then proceed to answer the call.
"Hello Khun Neung?" no one answered but i can hear commotion on the other line. Then i heard my wife's voice scolding someone followed by a loud closing of the door and a deafening silence. Grandma then looked at me in curiosity.
"Hello? Mon?"
"Khun Neung? Why is Sam angry? I heard her voice."
"Did she mention about a problem in the company?"
"Yes she did but she said its not that serious. Im here at Grandma's too and we talked about it. Why?"
"Sam took over the project herself right? And now she found more problems in it. She's very angry right now and it seems like the old Khun Sam that everyone in Diversity is afraid of returned here at the office."
"What? So what did she do? Is she terrorizing everyone again?" i said as i paced back and forth in front of the sofa i am sitting a while ago. I can see Grandma staring at me, maybe worried too coz of my reaction.
"And that's the reason why i called you Mon. She threatened to fire everyone in the finance and accounting department this morning if no one can pin point the cause of this issue. Everyone is working non-stop coz of it. No one can talk to her also. Everyone is afraid to approach her office and that everyone includes me. Im so afraid of my sister right now. No one in the office had seen her like this, they are all scared. We have the papers she can use but no one wants to enter the lion's den, we still love our lives Mon. Can you please talk to her? We cant solve this problem if she cant calm down herself."
I can hear frustrations as well as pleading from Khun Neung's voice. I sighed and looked at grandma. As if she knew what i was thinking, she called Ran and whispered something to my help, which the later did since she rushed out.
"I'll be there in 30 minutes. Did she had lunch already?"
"No, she never left her office. Pri tried to ask her if she wanted her lunch to be served already but she just dismissed the girl with a glare and went back to her work."
"Can you please tell Pri to prepare her supposed lunch? And please add some chilled sliced fruits, a pitcher of iced chamomile tea and a that carrot cake she loves? I know Pri would always have that ordered for Sam."
"Sure, i'll tell her that. Thanks Mon."
"I don't know if i can calm her down but i will try. Im sorry, she's not really on her best condition right now. She's been staying up all night for days already and she's also taking care of us too."
"Mon, if someone can help calm Sam down, its only you and no one else."
"Ok, be there in 30 minutes."
"Please tell your driver to drive safe. See you in a while." i said and dropped the phone
I looked at Grandma and she just nod.
"I told Ran to get the car ready. Be safe ok?"
"im sorry to cut our tea time Grandma."
"Its ok. Go and knock some sense out of your wife's head. Be safe ok?"
I hugged and wai'd to her before leaving. I am worried of Sam and her employees too. I really hope i can help everyone later. I need to stop her from threatening everyone too. Im thinking of ways to reason with her later.
I can already feel the tension as soon as i stepped inside the building. I even saw some employees relax and breathe some relief after seeing me. Is it really this bad? The elevator ride felt like forever. Ran who's beside me is worried too as she kept on glancing at me. When i stepped out of the elevator, Khun Neung went to greet me, i can now confirm the stress, worry, frustrations and fear i am feeling while talking to her on the phone.
"Thank goodness Mon. Im sorry for the trouble but you are the only one who can deal with her right now. I tried to come in but she locked her office. But don't worry, she is not doing anything other than reading and working on some paper works. I am monitoring her from the cctv room."
" Lady Mon!" Pri said. She looks like she's about to cry anytime now. Poor kid.
" Did you prepare her food Pri?"
" Yes My Lady."
" Thank you. Let's deliver her food now.".
I was about to walk out of Pri's door when Sam's door opened.
" WHERE IS THAT F*CKING PAPERS FROM ACCOUNTING!?"
I was so surprised. I never heard Sam shout or curse like this even in Diversity. She's now being unreasonable to the point of including those who have nothing to do with the issue. Its maddening me. Im so angry right now.
"SAMANUN! LANGUAGE!" i shouted back at her.
Neung's POV
I felt sorry for my sister. I can feel rage from Mon right now. And i know she knew that too since she immediately stiffened after hearing her wife's voice. I would too since we all know how sweet and soft Mon is but also extremely the opposite when she is angry. If i am afraid of Sam, i feel 10 times more afraid of Mon. If i am Sam, i will be afraid of my life, for real.
End of Neung's POV
"M-mon?"
"INSIDE, NOW!" Mon said and went straight inside Sam's office. Sam followed her wife without any questions.
As soon as Sam closed and lock the door, she looked for her wife to see her glaring at her. She's now starting to fear for her life. Angry Mon is not the best one to deal with. Plus she is worried about Mon and Bunny too.
"Really? Samanun? Coursing your employees?"
"W-what are you doing her T-tee rak? You s-should be relaxing with Grandma." Sam asked softly.
"I was peacefully having tea with Grandma when Khun Neung called me, telling me how my wife is terrorizing everyone in her company. How you are threatening to fire everyone? How you scare the hell out of your staff. Sam? Even Pri who has nothing to do with that mess and is always there to help you with anything? Now, even Khun Neung is afraid of her life! Tell me Sam, tell me how can i relax at home?"
Sam stayed silent, she doesn't want to argue with her pregnant wife. She doesn't want to stress her wife more. She doesn't want add more fuel on her rage. She just looked down quietly, waiting for her verdict.
Mon just looked at her wife. She can feel how Sam is trying to hold back and calm herself. She saw how her wife decided to surrender and accept her defeat by lowering her head and doing deep breathing.
"Im sorry." Sam whispered
But Mon knew this is not a battle. That there's no victory or defeat between them. Coz they will always choose the same side. That they fight together, not against each other. They were wives after all, and its on their vows to be with each other forever.
Mon went to give her wife a bone crushing hug that startled the latter but then moved so she can wrap her arms around her wife. They stayed with that position for minutes. No one tried to ask or say something. Just by being close to each other helped them calm down and relax. Mon then looked up to check on her wife.
"Pri said you skipped lunch, would you like to eat now?"
Sam nodded in agreement. "Go sit there, i'll get your food."
Sam followed her wife. Mon opened the door and saw how everyone checked. She gave a smile of assurance and looked at Pri.
"Bring Lady Sam's food in please. She wants to eat lunch now." Mon said gaining curious and shocked looks from the people around. Ran and Pri rushed to deliver the food inside the office.
"I-is she ok?"
"She's calm now but we haven't talked yet. Its just me who did all the talking a while ago, i haven't heard her side yet. Im just letting her eat first since its past her lunch time already."
"I understand."
"Please prepare the papers she needs to review. She's asking about that report from accounting before all of this happened right? Prepare that one then inform the company's external auditors and fill them in about what happened. Tell the accounting and finance department to have an hour of break time. They need food to function well. I'll force Sam to rest after eating too. Im planning to talk about what happened so we need that papers from accounting."
"Its here." Neung gave Mon a folder.
"Good, we'll review this one after our talk. Expect a meeting after that too."
"Noted Mon."
Mon then smiled and went back inside to see Sam already eating.
"Tee rak---"
"Finish your food then we will talk."
