"Khun Sam, delivery for you."
I smiled. Im currently at home and waiting for this delivery since i woke up this morning. If you're looking for my wife, she's not here. Yuki, Kade and Jim kidnapped her some minutes ago for some pamper time which i actually planned for me to finish the nursery as a surprise for her.
I walked passed by the guestroom turned to Bunny's nursery room. Its still empty but now with medium-toned gray walls and candy pink curtains over the big window. A pink sofa on the other side. A gold sputnik-styled pendant light is hanging on the pink marbled ceiling. A connecting door to our room was installed for easy access. The room, even if a little bare looks elegant, regal, fit for a member of the royalty. Its Grandma approved.
Voices from downstairs made me move back to my initial agenda. I looked at some men coming upstairs with huge boxes in tow. I walked inside the nursery and and observed how boxes were pile up in minutes. Auntie Kwan came in too holding papers for the delivery.
"They need your signature Khun Sam."
"is this all the items i need?"
"Yes My Lady."
"3 of our men will stay to help you assemble some furnitures and the interior design team will be here in a while My Lady."
"I just need them for the changing tables and cabinets. Leave the crib to me. I want to assemble it personally." i said as i signed the delivery receipt.
"Would you like me to supervise them My Lady?"
"please do Aunty. I just need to finish some papers then i'll come back."
"As you wish Lady Sam."
I then went back to our room using the adjoining door we build so we can have an easy access to the nursery. It took me a couple of hours until i finished. I checked on my phone and saw updates from my wife. They were now getting their nails done. I sent her a message reminding her to eat lunch in time and also texted Jim to remind Mon.
"They were finished already Lady Sam. Its lunch time too, would you like me to prepare your food now?"
"Thanks Auntie, i'll be down in a while."
I rushed downstairs for lunch so i can start with the crib. Im excited for this already, i really want to do something for my daughter, not just to buy her things but something memorable for us too. So i insisted to assemble the crib myself. I even went to buy tools for this task.
"How was the room Auntie? I rushed here for lunch."
"Its so beautiful Lady Sam. Im sure Lady Mon will be very happy with it. And also Bunny."
"That's good. I want the best for my daughter Auntie. I was thinking if we should make a little playground there? I think Bunny and Megan will be happy to have their own. Ow we should baby proof the house first. No, i need to prepare her hospital bag first. I need to ask P'Fah for the complete list again so i can order those things as earlier as now. I need to order that baby fence too to protect Bunny from falling off the stairs. Ow i need to order her car seat too! There's so much more to do Auntie."
Then i heard her laugh. I looked at her and playfully glared at her since i know, by her laugh, that she is teasing me.
"Don't laugh at me." im pretty sure i pouted too.
"Im just so glad that you are happy now Lady Sam. I saw you growing up, i am there to witness the changes that happened to you but this is my favorite. The change from being that lost, scared and controlled child up to this excited, nervous but happy mother to be. It swells my heart with joy. You are like a daughter to me Lady Sam and to see you now, living the best things life can offer you gives me happiness and pride only a mother could feel. You, Lady Mon, Singha and in the next months, Bunny, you four will always be my family. And i will do everything to serve and protect this family until the end of my life."
She is crying. I don't know what to say right now. I've stopped eating since she started talking already. Its the first time my nanny opened up to me like this.
" Im sorry for being so emotional my Lady. My age might be acting up already." she said and wiping her tears.
I stood up and hugged her and i know im crying as hard as her too.
"Thank you for being with me always. I appreciate all the things you've done to me and my family. You are a mother to me Auntie Len and you will always be a part of this family. Im sure Mon would say that too if she is here."
I hugged her tight. Aside from Grandmother, she is the only constant one in my life before Mon. She never left me and will always be there to comfort and hug me when i need to. Even if i left the palace, she will go here and clean the house do other chores. She watched me grow up and she will watch Bunny grow up soon.
"Go finish your food so you can start with that project of yours. You want to surprise her today with the nursery right?"
"Yes." I just nod and hugged her once more before getting back to eat.
After my lunch i went up to the nursery. Its almost finished, only the crib is missing but its perfect already...
End of Sam's POV
White wooden parts of the crib are neatly arranged on the floor. With one hand holding a screwdriver and one with the guide, Sam started to work with the puzzle we call crib. She looked at the guide once more then back to the pieces. Her eyes moved from right to left to check on everything she needed then she started her work. Her concentration is top notch this time that even a bomb scare outside the house will never disturb her.
It took her a few mishaps with the tools, a few cuts on her fingers, and some minor accidents that would cause a loud bang around the house and a worried Aunty Len and Aunty Kwan rushing to her but she never given up on fixing the Crib.
"I can do this. You can do this Sam. Theres nothing an Honorable Samanun Anuntrakul cant do. You are doing this for Bunny so you will finish this before Mami arrives. Su su na ka!" she said to herself as she pick up the screwdriver again.
4 hours passed by so fast without Sam knowing. She's been inside the nursery doing last minute preparations. She looks at the crib again. She's proud of herself for finishing it without any major accident. She even put Bunny's beddings in it and a bunny stuffed toy she bought for her daughter. She looked around checking on every details. Its Mon and her's masterpiece, they put everything they want their daughter should have and need altogether. The dresser, the sofa, the rocking chair, the crib, the changing table, even the baskets that contains toys. Everything here is thoroughly planned and chosen from the best of the best stores around the world. There are still lots of things missing but she knew her wife already took charge on it.
While Sam is inside the nursery, Mon arrived home with Ran.
"Good afternoon Aunty, why Sam's home already? Its still 4. Where is she?"
"She's in your room Lady Mon."
"Is she sick?" Mon asked. Its so seldom for Sam to undertime.
"Ow i think she's not My Lady. She just went home a while ago and went up directly, but she looks ok though." the old woman comforted her
"But we all know Sam. She might be keeping it again from us to keep us from worrying. I'll go upstairs to check on her, can you prepare soup in case she needs to eat before taking some medicine Aunty?"
"I will My Lady, Ran help Lady Kon upstairs and be careful!"
Mon being worried and all held on to Ran and they hurriedly walked up to check her wife. On her way to their room, she saw the nursery slightly open. She opened the door and her eyes widen in surprise. The nursery she is planning to start with on her next day off is not complete and fully furnished.
Sam looked back to see her wife looking so amazed with the nursery.
"Surprise?" she said
"Y-you finished it My Love." Mon said, eyes glistening with tears.
"The interior design team did all, well, except the crib."
"What do--- you fixed it?"
"I wanted to do something for Bunny. And i thought fixing her crib will make both of you happy so i did it." she said putting her hand on the crib
Mon looked at her wife's hands what is now with bandaids. Some are still red with the blood from the cuts. There are scratches too. But she can see how happy Sam is with her work. She can see how proud she is with it.
Mon hugged her wife and cried on her neck. She thought about all her wife's effort and hardships while doing their daughters crib while she's out enjoying herself. "Thank you and im sorry My love." she cried again.
"Hey, why are you sorry?"
Mon detached herself from Sam and looked at her wife's eyes.
"Coz im -" hiccups "E-enjoying out there and" hiccups "here you are... busy with Bunny's nursery." Mon cried
Sam laughed and kissed her wife. She looks so cute right now.
"Tee rak, im the one who asked them to bring you out so i can surprise you with the nursery."
"Y-you, you did?"
"Yes Mami. So let's stop crying already. We should be happy. Come, look at the beddings we chose for Bunny, should we order more of these? It so soft. The quality is great."
Mon just looked at her wife.
"Why are you looking at me like that?"
"We are so lucky to have you Sam. I am so lucky to have you as my wife and Bunny is lucky to have you as her Dada."
"And i am very lucky to have you two. You complete me Mon and now a bonus treat is coming for us Mami."
"I love you so much Love."
"I love you forever and ever Mon. You, Singha and Bunny. I love you three so much."
