"Hey Bunny... Don't wanna let Mami sleep again tonight aren't you?" Mon said and rubbed her belly.
It's 1 AM and she's now wobbling back and forth in their living room, the lights out, leaving only the ones illuminating their poolside. Her mild contractions or Braxton Hicks and back pain is killing her, but it's normal, her P'Fah told her during one of their visits. There's still a week left before her assigned due so she's not that worried. She walked her way to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
Sam on the other hand just woke up and saw Mon's place empty. It's a common sight since last week. Bunny would wake her Mami up by kicking her organs, she felt bad for her wife but Mon would just smile at her and say its all normal and its ok. How lucky she is to have a woman like Mon in her life, she thought. Sam stood up, wore her robe and looked for her wife. The living room is empty, same as the pool side, the next place she looked at is the kitchen which is empty too. She looked outside and there she is, her lovely wife, holding a glass of what she thought is milk on one hand and her other hand rubbing her belly.
"She's kicking your spleen again?" Sam asked. Though surprised, Mon just chuckled at her wife's antics
"It's my ribs this time Dada." Mon smiled at her. Sam came and wrapped her arms around her wife, both hands on her pregnant belly, gently rubbing it. Mon clasped their hands and leaned on her wife.
"Did i wake you up again?" Mon inquired with her eyes closed
"No, i actually didn't know you went out. Im sure i fell asleep as soon as we hit the bed. Are you ok? What are you feeling?"
"Nothing out of ordinary." Mon replied
"That does not answer my question Mami."
Mon just giggled. "Im fine. Braxtons and back pains, as usual. I went out since it feels so hot too. All i want is to be out here and feel a breeze of cold wind." Mon chuckled
Then Sam felt Mon gripped her hand, a long and hurting one.
"Mami?"
"Woah. That one is strong." Mon said in between deep breathing.
"Let's go to the hospital." Sam stated worriedly, Mon just smiled.
"No, it might be just another fake contractions. Let's observe it for a while." Mon looked at her watch and take note of the time
"But Mami - - -"
"It stopped already Love. It's fine now. Wanna take a walk with me?" Mon asked, her face plastering a smile she knew Sam will never decline. Sam agreed and held her wife's hand, helping her move around. Another 20 minutes passed and they are talking about Megan when Mon stopped walking and gripped Sam's arm, the latter held her wife to support her in case. Mon held her breathe while a strong surge of pain flows from the back to the front of her body for a minute.
Mon, being a well prepared 1st time Mom, read all kinds of books and articles regarding pregnancy and childbirth. The moment she felt that strong contraction and timing, she knew this is not just an ordinary Braxton. She is in active labor and she kinda expected it already.
She's been uncomfortable the whole day but she kept it from her wife since she knew Sam will be a nervous and panic mess. She wanted to be sure before telling her or else hell will loose and Sam will be all over her every passing second of their day.
"M-Mon, i-i think we should call P'Fah." Sam said voice laced with panic already.
"I think we should , Love." Mon said. She looked at her wife again and saw how Sam's eyes dilate from worries.  "Dada? Can you relax for me? Im feeling fine and im not that near giving birth yet. So take it easy Love. You can go panic later ok? How about you help me back to our room? I think i need a shower." Mom said calmly.
Sam swallowed an imaginary lump on her throat and went to help her wife back to their room. While Mon is inside, she prepared her clothes while trying to compose and calm herself. She slapped her face with her own hands and took a deep breath.
'Relax Sam. Mon needs your help and you know you are useless when you are panicking. Your wife and daughter needs you! Get yourself together you dimwit!' she scolded herself.
Mon went out of the bathroom and Sam immediately helped her dressed. She carried Mon's favorite blanket, both their bags and the car key on one hand and the other hand helping her wife walk to their car. As soon as they reached, Mon felt contractions again so Sam helped her by rubbing ber back.
After that episode, Mon was about to enter the car when she felt warm liquid flowing down her thigh, her water broke!
Mon immediately looked back at her wife and she saw how Sam froze while looking at the small puddle her amniotic fluid made
"Love, look at me." Mon said getting her wife's attention
Sam's eyes snapped back to Mon.
"Bub- Bunny's coming." Sam stated with a cracking and trembling voice.
"Yes, Bunny's coming but not now. At least not yet this time. We still have enough time to go to the hospital. You can still drive right?" Mon inquired.
"Of-of course! Yes, i can still drive."
"Good, now i want you to relax and help me up." Mon calmly said. Even in her state now, Mon knew her wife will never do them harm. She knew Sam will drive them to the hospital safely. And she trust her.
Sam on the other hand helped Mon on her seat, buckle her up and closed the door, she made sure she is calm and fine before occupying the driver's seat.
"Relax... Relax... Relax..." is Sam's mantra inside her head.
She looked at her wife and smiled before driving to the hospital.
Mon closed her eyes and looked for something to grip when another contraction happened. This one much stronger and longer than the previous ones that she can't help but made some sound she knew that would put her now calm wife to another panic attack again.
"ahhhhh!" Mon cried.
"Tee rak!" Sam called and is about to stop when Mon reached her arm.
"Drive...  I dont know what but i feel she'll be out soon so drive! And don't ever let your eyes off the road Samanun!" Mon said and cried again in pain
Sam, even nervous and terrified of her wife the same time continued driving, eyes not leaving the road as Mon said. Her arm being her wife's support grip. She can hear Mon's cry of pain, the sound is killing her but she can't even look at her wife. She should not as Mon's orders.
" We're near Tee rak. We'll be there in a while." she said
"Y-yes... Ahhhh!" Mon replied in agony. "I - i can do this. Aughhhhh!"
Sam is biting ber lips, its bleeding already but she cant feel any pain at all. Not even a tiny pang of pain on her arm that her wife is gripping.
Mon is now doing the breathing exercise her birthing coach told her. It helped her calm down and prepare for another strike of pain.
Her face dripping with sweat, eyes flowing with tears, but despite all the pain she's feeling, she glance at her wife to check.
Mon smiled when she saw how Sam followed what she said. Focus on driving, eyes not leaving the road. She can see how Sam bit her lip to contain her worries and panic attack too.
"G-good thing you are following my instructions." Mon chuckled in between deep breathing.
"Mon! Ho-how can you still talk like that?!"
"Im fine Love." she assured her wife
"No you're not! You're giving birth!" Sam replied back
"I am. Yes i am. But stop biting that lip Love, only i can do that." Mon answered back. "Not now though, maybe after I gave birth to Bunny?"
"Mon!" Sam's eye widen in her wife's words.
Mon's laugh even tired echoed inside the car. She still loved to tease her wife after all. She rubbed her belly again and another contraction hit her. She closed her eyes and reached out for wife's arm but Sam's hand held her. She gripped it tighter and tried to lessen the pain by breathing in and out. When the pain ended, she's surprised to see her wife's eyes on her.
"Were here Tee rak. I'll get down and help you ok?"
Mon nodded. Sam went out of the car. A group of medical personnel assisted them too. They put Mon on a wheelchair and wheeled her into the emergency room. Fah came to check on Mon too.
"I'll go with you." Sam said
"We'll just check on her Sam. Don't worry---"
"I'll go with her! I want to be there with my wife! You can't stop me and Im ready to pull ranks if i need to." Sam said in full authority
Everyone's eyes focused on the woman who firmly spoke. Her presence full of authority and face determined ready to really do anything just to be with the woman she is holding hands with. Fear crawled into Fah's body and to everyone who witnessed the scene.
Honorable Lady Samamun Anuntrakul is a force to be reckoned with. Fah knew that ever since they were kids. Neung would always tell her stories about her sisters, especially Sam and when she met the young royal, she definitely knew that Neung is really saying the truth. But never did she witnessed this persona of Sam. She would always saw her as her best friend's obedient younger sister with an uptight upbringing, not a royal decent. But now, Sam is overflowing with Power, authority, confidence and determination. There's like this suffocating air around her that could make everyone bow down and follow her orders. The fruit of years of lessons and teachings her grandmother drilled on her. She is an embodiment of a true thai royal.
"Y-yes My Lady." Fah said. She then looked at the nurses around her and started barking orders.  "You help Honorable Lady Samanun and Lady Kornkamon prepare. I'll meet you there in a while." Fah announced making her people scurry as they hear how the doctor addressed the women.
They never thought they'll be dealing with royals tonight!
"May Buddha bless my soul." they all thought after witnessing Sam's show of power.
Everyone went on work mode even during Fah's examination. After, they were given a VVIP room that Sam personally discussed and designed according to her and her wife's preference. Lights dimmed, smooth classical music playing, and Mon's favorite scent lingering the air, all for the comfort of her beloved.
Sam never left Mon's side after getting changed and checked. She held her hand as if her life is depending on it. It is true though, her whole life depends on Mon and Mon alone. She will move mountains and oceans for her. She almost lost her before and will never let that happen again. She promised that to herself. And now with Bunny in the picture, she knew her whole life will all be about her girls.
"5 cm, Mon. You knew you're already on labor right?"
"Been feeling contraction since morning but i brushed it off thinking its just another surge of Braxton. I had this discharge around afternoon so somehow i have an idea that i am. I felt restless and seems like Bunny feels the same too. It's around past midnight when i felt this strong and long pain in 20 minutes interval and my water broke after 3 contractions. So i asked Sam to bring me here." Mon replied, clearly stating her experience as if she is reporting in a class.
Sam is not surprised since she knew how detailed her wife is but she never thought she'll be this focused even with the pain she is feeling now.
" How can you still be calm during times like this?" Sam wondered while looking at her wife.
Mon somehow smiled and tapping her wife's hand as if consoling her which actually should be the other way around.
"One of us needs to be calm, My Love. And we both know when it comes to me you will always not be calm." Mon said with a chuckle
"I can be calm too!" Sam argued
"ow you can? How about that time when you froze and paled after my water broke." Mon teased
"Tee rak!" Sam said, stomping her feet in embarrassment making Mon smile again.
Fah somehow predicted that Mon will be the calm and composed one between the two. Upon hearing Mon's report, she knew she is very right. She just smiled at the lovely couple.
Mon pulled Sam closer to her and the later planted her face on the pregnant woman's neck.
" Thank you though for driving us safely here My Love." Mon whispered
Sam pulled herself up and kissed her wife's nose then put their foreheads together.
"It's the least i can do for you and Bunny Tee rak. I will always make sure you two are safe and sound. I promise you that."
Mon closed her eyes again and hugged Sam closer when another contraction happened.
"Ahhhhhhh!" Mon shouted
Sam just stayed there, whispering sweet nothings and encouraging her wife. She's already a master on that area, we all know that. And it really helped her wife a lot.
"You can do it Love. Just a little more and Bunny will be here with us. She will be here Mami. You can do that right? And when she's here we can shower her with so much love. We can kiss her and hold her and - - -" Sam continued to murmur just to encourage Mon.
4 AM. Time passed by with lots of pain from Mon and words of encouragement from Sam. Mon is 9 cm dilated and both of them are now standing. Mon leaning on Sam and the latter's arms around her wife, supporting her. Both performing breathing exercises and walking around, more on slow dancing with classical music.
"You're doing great Mami." Sam whispered
"Im so tired and everything hurts" Mon replied sobbing. The pain she is feeling is too much for her already. Sam can only hold her wife, kiss her head and rub her back.
"I know Tee rak. 1 cm left and you are ready to deliver Bunny. We'll be holding her in a while and its all thanks to you Mami." Sam replied and kissed ber wife's cheeks.
"I love her Sam, i love you and Bunny so much." Mon said before another contraction
"Ahhhhhhhhh!"
"I love you too Mami. You and Bunny." as she held her wife, eyes brimming with tears too. She hates the fact that her wife is hurting and she can't do anything to ease the pain.
Fah then came in and signalled Sam for another check. Sam wiped her tears and assisted ber wife.
Mon stepped and her eyes widen. "She's coming... I can feel her head. Ahhhhhhhh!." Mon said in distress
Fah immediately moved and squat to check. Fah looked at the nurses.
"She is really crowning." she informed them, they all get ready in an instant.
"Can you walk to the bed Mon?" Fah asked and Mon shaked her head, her knees trembling
"Ok, breathe Mon, the one i told you, do that. Sam, move in front of your wife please and put her arms on your neck for support, Mon hold on to Sam please." she directed which Sam and Mon immediately followed. Fah then moved back and faced the nurse. "Assist Lady Mon's side, you, put some pads down here." everyone moved according to Fah's orders. Sam looked at Mon, she is holding  her wife's upper body while rubbing her back. She looked back to what is going around them, then realization hits her.
"Don't tell me..." she started but quickly stopped when Fah talked.
"We don't have time. She's crowning already. Don't worry, i will never let anything happen to Bunny. Trust me on this Sam." Fah said and Sam just nod and went back to giving her wife her full attention.
"Mon, i want you to push when another contraction started, ok? Dotn worry, i'll be here ready to catch Bunny anytime." Fah assured the mother
Mon nodded. She then bent down and pushed with all her might. "Ahhhhhh!" she cried.
"Great, Mon, your doing great sweetheart. One last big push and Bunny will be here. One big push Mon." Fah said, sweat forming on her forehead too.
"Hear that Mami? One big push and Bunny is out. Grip or hold or crush my bones hard if you need to tee rak. You can do anything to me Mami. One great push and were holding Bunny now." Sam encouraged her wife more.
Mon looked at her wife and nodded. She took a deep breathe and gripped on Sam's shoulder as she made the biggest push she could ever muster when a contraction started.
"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
And Bunny slipped out of her on Fah's safe hands. Mon slammed her body to Sam which the latter held closely and peppered her head with kisses.
"Congratulations its a healthy baby girl!" Fa announced.
"Good job Mami. Thank you and i love you." Sam said
"I, I love you too D-dada." Mon replied between deep breaths.
Then they heard the sound they were waiting for these past 9 months. The sound of their baby girl crying her lungs out. Their Bunny's crying voice.
An overwhelming feeling of relief and happiness struck the new mothers like lightning that they did not realize their tears coming out of their now blurred eyes.
"Bunny....." Mon whispered
"Yes Tee rak. It's our Bunny." Sam said in between tears
"She's announcing her arrival to the world." Mon said while listening to their daughter.
"More on testing her lung capacity." Fah replied making the two chuckle.
After making sure that Bunny is doing great and clean, Fah looked at Sam.
"Wanna do the honors and cut the cord Dada?" Fah asked while handing Sam a scissor. She then held the umbilical cord and point at where Sam should cut it. She never heard Sam's answer.
With trembling hands, Sam cut the thing which connected Bunny from Mon. Fah then instructed the nurses to help Sam move Mon back to the bed. Mon even tired and all doest want to rest yet. She wants to see and hold her daughter.
Then the next thing they knew Fah slipped Mon's sleeve off just enough to show some skin and  transferred their naked little Bunny on Mon's chest. The little one squirmed, eyes opening and closing several times while adjusting to the light but later  then calmed down when Mon held and cover her with her arms and blanket and she stopped crying when she heard and felt her Mami's heartbeat. Mon and Sam started crying again.
"Hello Bunny..." Mon said and kissed their little one's head.
Sam put her hands on Mon then kissed her wife.
"She's so beautiful Tee rak." Sam said while softly tracing her fingers on their little girl's nose. "She's perfect."
"She is. She really is My Love."
"Wanna hold her Sam?" Fah asked.
Sam nodded and immediately look for something to wipe her hands. Good thing the nurse beside her is ready with a sanitizer and towel for her. Fah gently took the little girl on Mon and transferred it to Sam's waiting arms. Sam looked at how her Baby Bunny squirm to get a better position. She find it fascinating, she then saw her wife tearing up.
"You're doing great My Love." Mon said while wiping ber tears. "You two are perfectly lovely together."
"You're a pro at this aren't you?" Fah praised her
"Megan is a great practice baby." Sam said. She looked at her daughter and kissed Bunny's head. "She's so small and soft."
"I never knew i'll be loving another girl other than your Mami. But you happened. I love you Bunny." she whispered at her.
She bent down and gave her wife another kiss too.
"Thank you for giving me the best gifts life could offer Mon. First, you Tee rak, then your parents who treated me as their own too and now Bunny. You bring back happiness to my life when you choose to love me, and now you bring another reason for me to be happy. You two are my happiness. Thank you so much Mon. Thank you." Sam cried as she kissed ber wife.
" Thank you for giving me the chance to love you too Sam. And im sure Bunny knew how much you love her too. And whatever trial life will throw us, i will always choose you. You and Bunny is my life now. I love you too Samanun." Mon replied.
Everyone in the room felt the love wrapping around this little family. They can't even stop their tears to fall upon the new parent's exchange of words. Their love is so pure and genuine that it reached out to everyone who witnessed it.
" I don't want to end this beautiful sight but we need to take Bunny for a while. She needs to be cleaned and checked while Mon is being cleaned up too but don't worry, we will bring her back as soon as she finished."
Mon and Sam just nod. Sam held Bunny closer to Mon and the mother kissed their newborn before kissing it too then handed Bunny gently into Fah's arms. The doctor nods and walked away but then stopped after some steps and looked back.
"What is her name by the way?"
The couple looked at each other and smiled.
"Sunaree Anuntrakul."
They announced.
