The few days before Xiao Hui's birthday turned out to be busy days for everyone. Yun Xi was busy with designs, Mo Shan with work, and other family members with preparations.
This year, they decided to organize Xiao Hui's birthday in Mo Family Mansion itself. So, they were especially busy this year. Butlers and maids were actively cleaning each corner of the mansion. Mother Mo was occupied with event planners as they were discussing about the decorations and all. Lastly, Father Mo was busy inviting the respected and important guests all by himself. And of course, Mo Sheng was swamped with laziness.
The few days went on like that.
Time flew by, and it was Xiao Hui's birthday.
That day, Yun Xi didn't go to the office. She woke up early in the morning and prepared breakfast by herself since it was Xiao Hui's birthday. She wanted him to be happy from the moment he wakes up. After preparing breakfast, she went to wake up the little guy.
Xiao Hui was pleasantly surprised when he saw his mother first thing in the morning. Yun Xi helped him bathe and change clothes. She even carried him downstairs to the dining hall. Other family members were already seated there.
Mo Shan frowned when he saw Xiao Hui being carried by Yun Xi. He walked to them and took Xiao Hui from Yun Xi's arms and chided him. "Xiao Hui, you are heavy. Don't let your mother carry you. She is already carrying your younger sibling in her womb."
Xiao Hui didn't realize that until his father told him. He looked at Yun Xi guiltily and apologized, "Sorry, Mommy. Xiao Hui didn't know it. Did Xiao Hui hurt the baby?"
Yun Xi felt her heart hurt when she saw Xiao Hui's guilty expression. It was not even his fault. He looked so cute, so she wanted to carry him by herself. She didn't expect Mo Shan to act like that. She took Xiao Hui again into her arms and glared at Mo Shan. "Xiao Hui isn't heavy. I carried him because I wanted to."
She then completely ignored him and brought Xiao Hui to his chair. She fed him little by little while other family members were trying to control their laughter. It was their first time to see Mo Shan being scolded and ignored by someone.
Most of the time, Mo Shan is the one who acts indifferent and cold with everyone. So, when they saw Mo Shan being treated in the same way, everyone felt so satisfied.
While everyone was gloating at his misfortune, Mo Shan's face turned dark. He was just worried about her. Did she have to be angry at that? He pouted and went to sit next to Yun Xi.
Yun Xi didn't even look in his direction. Instead, she talked with Xiao Hui. "Darling, Mommy prepared something for you today. Do you want to look at it?"
Xiao Hui's eyes lit up at her words. He clearly wasn't expecting all these. First, his mommy took his side and even scolded his father. Now, she was also going to hand him her gift. Xiao Hui nodded his head earnestly and quickly finished breakfast.
After they were done, Yun Xi directly brought Xiao Hui to his room. They didn't even glance at Mo Shan. Mo Shan could feel family member's taunting gaze on him. He could also hear Mo Sheng's stifled laughter. Not being able to bear it anymore, he stared at his brother with cold eyes. Mo Sheng finally stopped laughing and started digging on his food without lifting his head.
Mother Mo sighed and explained, "Instead of sitting here like an ice-block, go and apologize to your wife. If you continue sitting like this, you will only flame her anger. Moreover, she isn't the wrong one. You even hurt Xiao Hui."
Father Mo also spoke from the side, "Your mother is right. We know that you only said that for her own good, but you hurt Xiao Hui in the process. You could have just explained to him more politely, so as not to hurt him."
"Just go and apologize to them. I am sure Yun Xi will forgive you", Old Master Mo said earnestly.
Hearing their words, Mo Shan stood up and walked to Xiao Hui's room.
In the room, Yun Xi sat Xiao Hui in the bed, and herself went to bring the cufflink she prepared for Xiao Hui. Yun Xi sat next to Xiao Hui and opened the box. "Tada, see mommy designed this herself for Xiao Hui. Do you like it?"
Xiao Hui's eyes glistened seeing the cufflink in Yun Xi's hand. "Wow! Mommy, it's so pretty. Xiao Hui will wear this today at birthday party."
Yun Xi smiled warmly looking at the little guy's happy face. She ruffled his head. "Mmm, Xiao Hui can wear it. Mommy also prepared a brooch for Xiao Hui. I will show it to you later."
She continued, "Mommy is going to make the birthday cake for Xiao Hui. Will you help mommy in the process?"
Xiao Hui nodded his head happily. "Xiao Hui will help mommy in everything."
Yun Xi patted Xiao Hui's head. Just then, she saw Mo Shan standing outside the room from her peripheral vision. Her eyes turned cold at that.
She was really disappointed in him today. She knew he didn't mean any harm and was just taking care of her. But the way he chided Xiao Hui was not a satisfactory one. Moreover, the relationship between her and Xiao Hui was like a glass right now. It will shatter even with slight force. They haven't known each other for a long time. So, she wanted to take time to develop their relationship in a stronger one, just like of real mother and son.
She was glad that Xiao Hui didn't think much of his father's chiding. But what if he had overthought it? What if he had thought that because of her, he got scolded by his father? This would have ruined the bond they recently developed. She shivered even thinking about the consequences.
Yun Xi knew everything was fine now, and she was just overthinking. But, she really couldn't get rid of the fear in her heart. She didn't want Xiao Hui to hate her.

Outside, Mo Shan was thinking of how to apologize. He has never apologized to anyone before, he never felt the need to do so. But now, he knew he should apologize but didn't know how to. What if he did something wrong again and flame her anger even more?
Due to these thoughts, he left from there without talking to them. He wanted to think about the idea first on how to convince them.
But, he didn't know that Yun Xi saw everything. Yun Xi felt even more disappointed when she saw him leave.
