While Yun Xi was following Xiao Hui, some ladies came to talk to her. It would be rude to ignore them, so she turned to Xiao Hui and said, “Xiao Hui, you go to your friends first. I will come in a while, okay?”
Xiao Hui readily went ahead to meet other children of his age. He never liked them as they always made fun of him for not having a mother. Even if they didn’t do that in front of him, he knew they didn’t like him. He usually stayed away from them but today, he wanted to show off his mommy in front of them. So, when the other children came to talk to him, he didn’t ignore them.
And just as he expected, they started talking about their mom. One of the children taunted Xiao Hui, “Xiao Hui, you don’t have a mother, right? So, you won’t know how great it feels to have a mother.”
Xiao Hui raised his eyebrows and countered, “Who said I don’t have a mother? I have my mommy, and she is more beautiful than your mommy.”
One of the children snickered, “Then where is your beautiful Mommy? Show her to us if you dare.”
“Of course, you wait here. I will go call my mommy. Don’t run away later.” Xiao Hui told the children and went to call Yun Xi.
Now when the children saw Xiao Hui returning alone, they started laughing at him. “So, where is your mommy? Did she leave you again?”
Xiao Hui didn’t mind their words and just went to sit nearby knowing that Yun Xi will come soon. Even with the children taunting him, he sat indifferent to everything. The children’s parents were all standing nearby, but no one cared to come and scold their kids.
Just then Yun Xi arrived, and she heard kids taunting Xiao Hui. She frowned at their behavior and looked at the parents standing nearby. When the parents saw Yun Xi arriving at the scene, some of the ladies hastily walked to her and said, “Mrs. Mo, you don’t mind children joking with each other, right? They are just bickering with each other as the normal kids do.”
Yun Xi became furious when she heard their disgustingly fake tone. Joking? Bickering? Taunting someone for not having a mother is Joking to them? She wanted to scold them, but since it was Xiao Hui’s birthday, she didn’t want to create any scene.
She just ignored them and passed them to get to Xiao Hui. She then faced the children and spoke, “Hi, everyone. I am Xiao Hui's mother. I heard you wanted to meet me. So, what’s the matter?”
The kids fell silent when they saw Yun Xi. Moreover, she was looking like a fairy in her gown. And, children were completely stunned by her.
While the children were awed by her beauty, their mother was glaring at Yun Xi. They were backbiting Yun Xi by saying how she dared to ignore them. But they could only talk to themselves as they were still not on Yun Xi's level.
“Saw that? I told you my mommy is the most beautiful. Do you have any other questions?” Xiao Hui demanded in an authoritative voice.
All of them fell silent at that moment. All of a sudden, a child screamed, “No. My mom said she is not your real mother. She is your stepmother. My mother also said that when step-mothers give birth to their child, she won’t love you anymore.”
Yun Xi's eyes hardened at the boy's words.
Not only, Yun Xi, almost everyone in the banquet had heard his words as he had said that in a loud voice. The boy's mother heard his words too.
She hurriedly ran to his son and covered his mouth. She then apologetically glanced at Yun Xi. Yun Xi recognized her as the lady who had earlier told her that children were just joking.
As Mo Shan was following them, he arrived at the scene too. His expression looked too scary. The mother of that child told her son to apologize to Xiao Hui hurriedly. “Son, what are you saying? Quick, apologize to Xiao Hui and his mom.”
“But mom, you said that stepmothers are evil. I am just telling Xiao Hui the truth.” The child insisted.
The mother's face turned red at her son's words. She did say that, but she didn’t expect her son to expose everything. Just then the father of the boy reached there too. He bowed to Mo Shan and hurriedly apologized. “Mr. Mo, these are just childish words. Please don’t take it to heart. I will teach him a lesson when we return home.” Saying that, he glared at his wife. He has never faced such an embarrassing situation before. And now all because of the stupid woman, he was facing it.
Yun Xi didn’t want to make the situation even more by dragging it. So, she was about to end the topic right there, but just then, Mo Sheng arrived at the scene.
Unlike Yun Xi and Mo Shan, Mo Sheng just wanted to teach the shameless couple a lesson. Then he started shouting aloud, “Oh my god!!! Which family is this child from? Didn’t his parents teach him anything? How rude!”
The boy’s father started sweating in nervousness. He spoke in a low voice, “Third master, he is my son. I apologize for his behavior. I am sure he didn’t mean that. I will let him apologize to Little master and Mrs. Mo.”
Before he could talk to his son, Mo Sheng cut his words. “Oh, aren’t you from Chu family? Your son hurt my nephew and sister-in-law’s feelings. Do you think a mere apology is enough to mend their feelings?”
Mo Shan shook his head at his brother’s overacting. He really didn’t know from where his brother got this level of shamelessness. Because none of the Mo Family members were as shameless as his brother.
Amidst all these, Yun Xi glanced at Xiao Hui, and she knew that he was somewhat affected by the kid’s comment. Now, she just wanted to talk to him so that she can tell him how much he meant to her. She really didn’t want any more drama.
She took out her cell phone and typed something on it. At the side, Mo Shan's phone dinged. When he took a look at the message, he glanced at Yun Xi and nodded his head at her.
After she saw Mo Shan's gesture, she grasped Xiao Hui’s hand and took him outside to the garden. She sat him on a swing and crouched down at his level. She grabbed his cheeks with her palm and made him face her. “What happened? Sad?” Yun Xi asked him gently.
Xiao Hui shook his head, avoiding her eyes. His eyes were already full of tears, and he didn't want Yun Xi to see him in that condition.
When Yun Xi saw his teary eyes, her heart hurt. "Xiao Hui, did you believe that boy's words?"
Xiao Hui shook his head again. He knew that his mommy loved him. But what if in the future, she starts hating him? He didn't want his mommy to not like him. So, he was afraid, afraid that she will not want him anymore.
Yun Xi sighed looking at him. She cupped his face gently and made him face her. "Listen to mommy. I will only be saying this one time. Mommy loves you. And no matter what happens in the future, I will continue loving the same. You have to remember one thing Xiao Hui- No matter how many children mommy will have later, you will forever be mommy's first child. And you hold a special place in my heart, which no one can take. Understood?"
Xiao Hui saw the sincerity in Yun Xi's eyes. He rushed forward and hugged her tightly. Now he was feeling bad for doubting her. "Xiao Hui is sorry" he apologized for doubting her love.
Yun Xi just patted his head silently. "Xiao Hui, there will be many people in the future who would try to drag you down. There will be many who will badmouth you and your family. So, you should be strong. You should learn to ignore their words, mmm? Now come, it's time to cut the cake. Let's not make everyone wait more, okay?"
Xiao Hui nodded his head and followed Yun Xi inside.
Without them knowing, Old Master Mo and Elder Ji were keeping their eyes on them. "You really found a gold this time, Old Mo", commented Elder Ji. He was talking about Yun Xi. "That girl... *sigh* I am jealous of you for finding such a nice girl to be your granddaughter-in-law."
Beside him, Old Master Mo had a pride look on his face.
