Numbers of cars entered the gate. It was a sight to behold. Various ministers and government officials get off from them one-by-one.
Finally, a military jeep entered the compound. A young man got out from the driver's seat and walked to the other side. He opened the door and helped an elderly man get off.
“Tsk, do you think I can’t get out of this lousy car? I am still strong enough for this.” The old ma chided to the young one.
“Right, right. I know you are still young. I just wanted to help you as a grandson. Now come on, don’t scold me in front of everyone. Am I still your grandson?” the young man whispered to his grandfather.
The elderly flared at his grandson but didn’t say anything.
The elder was none other than Ji Haoran, the former General of the country. And, the young man beside him was his grandson, Ji Wei.
Ji Wei was also preparing for the general post now. If outsiders knew that this tough man was being chided by his grandfather, will he still have a face to show?
Father Mo and Mo Shan went forward to greet everyone.
Elder Ji’s eyes warmed when he saw Mo Shan. “You are doing great, young man.”
“All thanks to your guidance, Grandpa Ji", Mo Shan replied sincerely.
“I heard that you got married. Won’t you introduce me to your wife?” Elder Ji teased him. Beside them, Father Mo was feeling proud. His son was his greatest pride. He could even get in the good eyes of the formidable Elder Ji.
Everyone knew that it was almost impossible to get on the good side of Elder Ji. He liked only sincere people and hated fake socialites. He wouldn’t even spare a glance at those fake people. But, he really liked Mo Shan.
“Of course, I will introduce her to you, Grandpa. And, I bet you will definitely like her.” Mo Shan declared proudly.
Elder Ji eyed Mo Shan, “If your wife was chosen by your father or mother, then I would definitely not believe it. But, I believe in your and your grandpa's choice. I am waiting for you to introduce her."
Father Mo cleared his throat beside them. Elder Ji was really not giving him any face. Did Elder Ji forget that I was standing just next to him? How can he criticize me when I am still here, thought Father Mo.
They walked inside. Along the way, Elder Ji complained, “Mo Shan, find some nice girls for my stupid grandson too. I am afraid that he will die single. And if I leave everything to himself, I am afraid he will scare the girl away. So, help me find some nice girl.”
Ji Wei whined behind them. “Grandpa, how can you describe your biological grandson like that? And I am still young to get married.”
Elder Ji slapped his grandson's head, “Young? You are already 30 and don’t even have a girlfriend. Look at Mo Shan. He is younger than you, but already has a son. Do you know how much that Old Mo acts proudly in front of me?”
“So, are you jealous of grandpa Mo?. But, you already have me as grandson your grandson. Why do you need more children? Aren’t I enough?” Ji Wei complained.
Just then, Mo Shan spoke from behind them. “Grandpa Ji is right. You should really find someone now. Grandpa Ji just wants a great-grandchild.” He then turned to Elder Ji and said, “Don’t worry, grandpa. I will ask my grandfather to look for some nice girl for Ji Wei.”
Elder Ji nodded satisfied. “You still understand me the most, Mo Shan.”
They reached inside just by chatting and teasing each other.
When they arrived inside near the main table, Old Master Mo's voice boomed, “Old Ji, you never give up on my grandson, do you? Just leave him now. He already has a wife.”
“Why are you shouting for such a simple matter? I was just asking him to find some nice girl for my stupid grandson. By the way, where is the daughter-in-law you are so proud of?”
Old Master Mo searched around for Yun Xi and found her chatting with some guests. Mother Mo was introducing her to guests, and Yun Xi was greeting them.
“Xiao Xi, come here. Sit next to grandpa. You must be tired from all the standing.” Old Master Mo called her.
Yun Xi bid farewell from guests and walked to Old Master Mo.
“Grandpa, do you need something?” She asked.
“No, I don’t need anything. Come, take a seat next to me. You have been standing and greeting the guests all along. Take rest for a while.”
Yun Xi shook her head, “Grandpa, I am fine. Mom is attending to everyone by herself. I will come and take a rest when I am tired.”
“Just take a seat. Grandpa is right. Don’t overexert yourself. Even if not for you, think of the little one inside you.” Mo Shan told her gently.
After she took the seat with everyone’s insistence, Old Master Mo introduced her to Elder Ji. “Xiao Xi, this is my best friend and brother, Ji Haoran. You can call him grandpa. And, the young man beside him is his grandson, Ji Wei. You can call him brother. His parents didn’t come today as they are on vacation right now. I will introduce them to you some other day.”
“Greetings, Grandpa Ji. Greetings, Brother Ji.” Yun Xi greeted them warmly. Respect was oozing out from her eyes meeting the two formidable people so close to her.
Elder Ji liked her in an instant. He nodded at her and spoke, “Old Ji, you really found gold in your daughter-in-law. I can tell she is a nice lady. You got yourself great luck.”
He was praising Yun Xi from his heart. A tinge of Jealousy could also be detected in his tone. He was most impressed by Yun Xi's clear eyes. She wasn’t the one to be intimidated by money and power.
Old Master Mo nodded proudly. “Of course. Xiao Xi is like a fortune for Mo Family.” Even Mo Shan was feeling proud of his wife. He knew that Elder Ji will love her in an instant.
Old Master could feel that Elder Ji was feeling jealous of him for having a good daughter-in-law like Yun Xi. To spread more salt on his close friend’s wounds, Old Master Mo spoke childishly, “Xiao Xi, you didn’t have to make these cufflinks for me. But I really like it. Thank you!”
Saying these words, he eyed his friend who was already seething in anger. He was getting pleasure torturing his friend.
Yun Xi thought everything was normal, so she replied, “It’s nothing, Grandpa. I am glad that you like it.”
“Hmph! Childish” Elder Ji humphed in the side.
Old Master Mo heard him and snickered, “Old Ji, what happened? Are you jealous?”
Elder Ji glared at him and replied haughtily, “Why would I be jealous?” Just then he saw Xiao Hui from the corner of his eyes. His eyes glinted and called Xiao, Xiao Hui, come to grandpa Ji. Let me see, you have grown taller.” And like this, Elder Ji found the perfect excuse to change the topic.
Xiao Hui walked in front of him and bowed to him, “Great grandfather Ji, how are you?”
“I am fine. What can happen to me? How are you?” Elder Ji asked back.
“Xiao Hui is fine too.” Xiao Hui chirpily replied.
He then walked to stand next to Yun Xi and whispered, “Mommy, Xiao Hui wants to introduce you to my friends. Can you come with me?”
Yun Xi readily agreed and excused herself from there and followed Xiao Hui, holding his hands.
Beside her, Xiao Hui’s eyes were glowing as he can finally show his friends how beautiful his mommy is.
