Chapter 25 - Is it love?
An exhausted sigh escaped her lips when someone wrapped the hands around her waist and lifted her up.
Completely unknown, her cheeks turned red when someone said in a husky voice, sending shivers down to her spine.
"Get it now."
Gulping down her saliva, she responded. "Uh? Okay."
Extending her hands, she grabbed the container as Xi Song put her down.
Smiling as she turned back to look at him, their eyes got fixed on each other.
His dark brown eyes were clear as if she could see herself in them. Their bodies were also close enough that their breaths had mixed with each other. It was not known for a moment whether it was really an arranged marriage or love?
Her heart was beating fast. That unusual feeling was taking over her. Her lips were trembling as if they wanted to say something. But what?
Choking in the air, he moved back as she gazed down, trying to process everything.
"I'm going early today. There's a case in the hospital."
Tugging her hair strand back, she pouted. "Oh!"
They filled the atmosphere with awkwardness. Despite Xi Song wanted to break the silence but was scared to express his feelings.
"See you later then." Scratching his earlobe, he walked away as she breathed out while placing a hand on her chest. "What was that? I almost lost myself in his gaze."

After finishing her daily routine, Xingyue reached the office and got busy doing the same task.
But today seemed different from usual days.
She could not concentrate on work at all. The incident that happened this morning had enclosed her mind from all sides. In fact, there was a strange glow on her cheeks too.
Frustrated, she stood up from her desk and went to the coffee bar of their office.
"Good morning, Xingyue," Tang Xue approached her.
She smiled at her and welcomed her. "Good morning, Tang Xue. Is your annual review of Jiang Chen done?"
Moving her hands, she refused. "Not at all. I tried everything, he still rejects my offer. I don't know how I'm going to work with him."
Caressing her arms, she cheered her. "Everything will be alright."
Both were sitting on the chair while sipping their coffees when Xia Na came to them. "Morning, guys."
Taking her seat, she put her head on Xing's shoulder. "You seem tired, Xia Na."
"I have to cover a drama based on the doctor's life. The thing is, I know nothing. How am I going to handle this mess?"
Glancing at her, Tang Xue chuckled. "Why don't you take help from your boyfriend? Ling Xiao will help you."
Raising her head, she glared at her. "Do you want to die today?"
"I only said true things... He can help you."
"Yah! He is not my boyfriend. I--"
Cutting her words off, Xing raised her voice. "You both shut your mouths. Tang Xue, stop teasing her."
Pouting with her lips, she hummed when Xing asked with her trembled chin. "By the way, I have something to ask you guys. It's not about me. It's my friend that needs help."
Gazing down on her cup, Tang Xue smirked. "What help does your friend need?"
She bit her lower lip while explaining to them her feelings. "My friend recently had some strange feelings. Whenever she looked at a guy, her heart started beating fast. She always lost herself whenever she met his eyes..."
Both narrowed their eyes while looking at Xingyue. "Well, then, your so-called friend is in love with that guy. All the symptoms are of lovesick feelings."
"What? Love?"
Putting a hand on her shoulder, Xia Na confirmed. "Yes, it's love. You rarely felt this for a guy. So, we can say it's love."
"But how? They are not even in love."
"Xingyue, it is said that it's better to accept it than faking to hate it."
Tang Xue sensed Xing was talking about Xi Song, but she didn't want to reveal it. After all, it would be better if Xing herself found out about her true feelings.
But now the point was, would Xingyue be able to accept these feelings? Or would she choose to stay with her rules?

Sitting in his cabin, Xi Song seemed focused on his patient's report when someone stormed inside without knocking on the door.
"I need your help."
Though he felt annoyed, he knew it could be none other than his disturbing friend.
"What do you need, Ling Xiao?"
Taking a seat, he came closer while gazing here and there. "I need your help."
"Continue it. I knew you wouldn't come without any reason."
"Yah! Do you think of me as your friend or not?" he furiously asked.
Without wasting time, he stood up and flatly refused. "Not at all."
Clenching his jaw, he calmed himself down. "Xi Song, just help me one last time. I'm throwing a party for my birthday. I want you to come with Xingyue."
Frowning at his place, he raised his eyebrow as Ling Xiao clasped his hands while begging him. "Please, help me to invite Xia Na as well."
"How can I invite her?" Xi Song rolled his eyes.
"She is Xingyue's friend. You can ask her to invite Xia Na."
"And why would I ask Xingyue?"
With his puppy eyes, he played his act again. "Please! One last time."
No matter what, Xi Song had to accept his request in the end.
Biting his inner cheek, he took out his phone and dialed Xingyue's number. "Remember, one last time."
Though he was pretending to be cold but deep inside, he was thankful to him. His request gave him a reason to call Xing.
He pressed his lips firmly together while hiding that lovesick smile.

Sitting at her desk once again, Xing was trying to focus on work when her phone buzzed. "Beep-beep!"
Shifting her gaze, she ran her hands through her hair. "Why doesn't the world let me focus on the work?"
Extending her hand, she took the phone but frowned when she noticed the person's name who called her.
In a moment, her anger calmed down as she mumbled his name. "Xi Song?"
