Chapter 66 A drunken mistake

Xia Na's POV
Today was a terribly tiring day, or should I say that every day became like this?
Perhaps I also knew the reason behind this.
Since I distanced myself from him, I lost myself too.
I took the key out of my purse, opened the door, and stepped inside.
Someone grabbed my hand as I put my hand on the handle to close the door. I was aware of this touch. It seemed familiar.
As soon as I looked back, I got pushed and hurled against the wall.
Putting a hand over my mouth, he stopped me from screaming. I took a deep breath as my eyes met his. I slightly lifted my hand and pushed him away.
"What do you think you're doing, Dr. Ling?" I exclaimed.
"Isn't it obvious? Didn't you expect me to be here after what you did that night?" He reasoned, looking deep into my eyes, making me unsettled.
"What?"
He slowly approached me, racing my heartbeats. My hands got sweaty with just his poker look. I hate to say it, but his serious stare shivered at me.
I moved back as my back hit the wall.
He clutched me in his arms. "I think you know what I'm talking about, Xia Na." My eyes widened as I gulped. "I remember everything."
Flashback
After getting drenched in the rain, I dried my hair. Being thirsty, I went to get a bottle of water from the lobby when I saw Ling Xiao lying on the sofa.
Walking towards him, I glanced at his flushed face.
"Ling Xiao?"
He fanned his hands, confirming my suspicions.
"No way. Are you drunk?" I grabbed his arm, trying to make him sit. "You should sleep in your room. You'll catch a cold here."
Holding his hands, I thought of dropping him into the room. Suddenly, he grasped my waist and hugged me.
"Ling Xiao, can you stop?" I looked at him with a pissed-off look.
"Xia Na, can we stop this? I can't stay away from you. It's hurting me. No matter how many times I try to act tough, I'm lost whenever I see you."
"Stop talking. You're drunk." I avoided his words and held him, moving to his room.
We reached the room. I quickly brought a wet towel from the bathroom. While filling the cup of water, I again felt a pair of hands around my waist.
He rested his head against my back.
"How I wish this dream to be true." He said it in a drunken voice. Gulping, I didn't move, letting him say it out.
"I wonder what tore us apart, Xia Na? When I could literally fight against the world, why can't you?"
There was a cramp in his voice that I didn't even notice. I pressed my lips together, turning around. I examined his face and saw how it went from cheerful to completely dreadful.
While we kept staring into each other's eyes, I cupped his face.
"Let's forget whatever will happen next. Okay, Ling Xiao?" Shifting my gaze to his lips, I grabbed his collar and stood on my toes.
Closing my eyes, I gently kissed his lips. His hands seized my waist, pulling me closer to him. He caressed my hair and tugged it behind my ear.
I felt a rush in my veins when his tongue entered my mouth. Slowly but rushing, I jumped, wrapping my legs around his waist as we moved from kissing against the wall to the table and then to the bed.
Flashback ended
I was too stunned to utter a word.
How did he remember it?
He lifted my chin, making me face him. I restlessly looked at him.
"That was a drunken mistake. Forget it." I uttered.
His deep gaze was unconquerable for me. "Even if you called it a drunken mistake, I would love to live it again. I don't care. I'm willing to get drunk every day just to receive your love. I'll let my guard down. So, even if we wake up tomorrow and you choose to run away, I won't stop you. For me, a moment with you is more than enough, Xia Na."
He joined our heads as I closed my eyes, letting him do whatever he wanted to do. I completely surrendered myself in front of him. I knew no matter how far I tried to run away from him, I'd end up coming back to him each time I left him.

Xingyue's POV
Walking back home, I stopped when my gaze fell on Xi Song. He was standing in front of the entrance door.
I approached him and glanced at him. "What are you doing here?"
He turned and slightly smiled at him. "Oh! I came to give you what I own." Handing me a brown envelope, he heaved. He was staring at the ground without being able to meet my eyes.
"I signed the papers already. You can sign and submit them." He raised his head to finally look at me. "I hope you stay happy and loved, Xingyue. From now on, I'll never bother you."
I frowned at his words. What was he saying?
A sorrowful smile appeared on his lips when he walked away, leaving me in fright.
I found a steel bottle near the door. I took it and entered the house.
I sat on a chair, opening the bottle, only to find my favourite soup attached with a note.
"I'm sorry to leave it like this. I had no courage to give it to you face-to-face. It's a chilly night. Drink the soup and wear warm clothes."
Putting the note down on the table, I squinted. I put my hands over my head. What was he trying to do? At once, he handed me the divorce papers, and the next day, he secretly sent me a bottle of soup along with a note. He left me unsettled, and my thoughts tangled up even more.
"Why are you like this, Xi Song?"
......................................................
The smell of coffee helped me relieve my stress. While sipping coffee with one hand and reading the newsletter draft with another, I saw Xia Na coming in a hurry.
Putting my mug down, I waved at her. "Xia Na!"
"XINGYUE!!' She called out my name in a loud voice, enough for others to glance at us. I turned my head and slightly bowed as an apology for the disturbance.
"What happened? Why are you shouting like this?"
She huffed, muttering words in between. "Xi Song... Xi Song is going..."
"Going where?"
She put a hand over her chest, catching her breath. "Xi Song is going to the US."
"And who told you this?"
"I heard Ling Xiao and him talking last night."
"Ling Xiao?" Raising my eyes, I smirked. "Wait, are you two back together?"
"I-" I saw her struggling to come up with an answer.
"Aye, Ling Xiao really got you hooked, Xia Na."
"Shouldn't you be concerned about him leaving the country?"
"Why should I?" I emptily stared at the floor. "It's not that I still have anything to do with him."
"Girl, you haven't gotten a divorce yet."
"He signed the papers and handed them to me already. I really have no reason left, Xia Na."
"Wait, what? Yaa! Don't tell me you won't go to see him."
I slightly chuckled at her words. "Should I? Weren't you mad at him before?"
"I- I was, but not anymore. Are you sure you won't regret it? Life is too short for regrets, Xia Na; you told me this. Even if you want to end it, at least end it on good terms. You two loved each other at once. At least, you two deserve an apology and a last message to each other."
