Chapter 3

Natanie returned to Madina's space with a sullen expression.
“Do you feel better now? Or are you still hurt?” Madina asked with concern.
“Yeah I guess, but I'll be fine.” Natanie said and pressed her lips together.
“Don’t worry, you'll get over it and you'll be just fine.” Madina flashed her a small smile.
Natanie tried to mirror her smile and sighed. “Thank you Madina.”
“You're welcome. Now I see it is your turn to dance. The rest are on stage waiting for their star girl to show up and Sharon too!” Madina said excitedly.
“Ugh.. Sharon again!” Natanie grimaced and rolled her eyes at the thought of her.
Sharon has done nothing to get on Natanie's nerves but she always succeeds to make Natanie's skin crawl.
“And why must she be the one to lead today? She's so mean and annoying, I don't like her and I hate her guts.” Natanie said with disgust.
“You have to endure whatever that is, Natanie.” Madina said.
“Madina, you of all people know that I obviously can't stand her. It might sound crazy, but she could pass for a witch in those fairy tales kids watch on TV these days.” Natanie tied up her shoe laces as Madina let out a short laugh.
“Don't worry, you'll get used to her presence in no time, trust me.” Madina mumbled under her breath.
“I don't want to but alright, I have to go now.” Natanie said and stood up from the small couch at the corner of Madina's space and approached the exit.
“Oh, and Natanie?” Madina called after her.
Natanie turned to Madina.
“There's this new dance instructor and he's also a judge, weird rumors are flying around. So better be careful and don't hurt your feet.” Madina said and nodded at Natanie to go ahead.
What rumors? She wanted to ask but decided against it.
“Alright.” She said to Madina before walking out of the room.
She grimaced afterwards at her wrist watch and at the thought of the new judge.
“A new judge? Rumors? Well alright.” She bit her lip and headed towards the dance hall.
Coming on stage was like approaching her destiny but being aware that there is a new judge around, made her stomach churn for some reason. She could bet that it felt like being near hell literarily.
“Natanie, what the hell is on your mind?” Isabelle asked trying not to look annoyed.
Isabelle is Natanie's closest friend at the dance palace and she has been calling out to Natanie for a while but she was obviously lost in thought.
When Natanie turned to look at her friend, Isabelle pulled up a small smile at her as her thin hands rested confidently on her waist.
Natanie looked around and discovered she was still the only one on stage with her handbag whilst the training is about to begin. She felt strangely embarrassed and decided to toss her bag to the side.
Natanie thought of how stupid she is and most certainly how weird it was to be so immersed thinking about a crappy judge being around, and so what? It didn't automatically mean she'd be berated for moving her feet in a certain way or swirling her movements or even swaying her hips to please him. She sighed and felt the chills as she rubbed her arms.
“Uhm.. nothing Isa, don't worry about me.” Natanie said as she cranned and moved her neck trying and pushing her body for a stretch.
“I’m certainly not worried but what's that weird look on your face?” Isabelle asked shaking her head.
Natanie blinked uncomfortably. “What weird look? Excuse me, but I don't think you know what you're saying.” She said as Isabelle rolled her eyes.
“Anyway, have you heard about the new judge?” Isabelle asked. Natanie's heart skipped at the thought of it again.
“Hasn't everyone?” Natanie blurted as she sighed and leaned closer to Isabelle.
“I have definitely heard about it but what I can't explain is the fact that it's making me nervous. So nervous.”
“Crazy, but me too.” Isabelle said as both ladies clasped their eyes shut in obvious dread.
“Alright ladies, let's come together.” Sharon shouted from the front roll, making Natanie wince and burdened as if with the whole world's problem.
“The bad omen!” Natanie mumbled under her breath as she fit in her role and joined the other ladies, her small hands rested on her hips.
“Natanie! The front roll!” Sharon shouted as Natanie rolled her eyes and strolled to the front while Isabelle stared indifferent at her friend.
When Natanie got to the front roll, usually she would feel like she'd come face to face with the world but something felt different this time, it felt strange and it worried her.
Then the music came on, she allowed her body move to the rhythm. She twirled slowly, pissed off on following Sharon's lead.
Then she turned, allowing her straight legs feel the motion. She blinked and closed her eyes for a few seconds, and when she opened them, her gaze rested on a man spotting a fine black trousers and a ash coloured jumper, staring almost dimly at her as her eyes widened in shock at his gaze on her.
Because of the current dance movement, she was unfortunately forced to keep her eyes on him as she mentally kicked herself and couldn't wait to turn away.
“That must be him, that is definitely him.” She was able to talk loudly to herself, thanks to the loud music. But her head was a drumming mess, her waist became weak, her throat dry and her chest falling.
The music intensified and then she mimicked Sharon's moves, thankful for once that her instructions had saved her from the exchange of awkward looks and staring competition with the judge which was daunting.
Unfortunately, spinning to look at him again felt like taking in and observing his features. He is tall and he spotted dark hair, a warm smile, and there again, a captivating blue eyes.
Natanie felt her heart pound profusely against her chest, a desperate urge to disappear from the stage erked her pores.
Obviously it is just as a result of her nervousness, she hated herself for staring continuously towards his direction. What is this awkward feeling? She asked herself.
