CHAPTER FOUR
DAMIEN POV
The sun had just begun to rise, casting a warm golden glow over the land as I stood at the edge of the forest, deep in thought, taking in the beauty of the new day. The early morning silence was interrupted only by the gentle rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of birds. It was in this peaceful moment that I found myself lost in thought, Due to the confrontation that just happened a while ago with this city girl, I never thought that the mate I had been waiting for three years would turn out to be her. It seems like the moon goddess is playing games with me.
"I had always dreamed of finding my mate, someone who would understand and support me. I thought Sarah was perfect for that and would stand by my side through thick and thin. However, when I finally met her, it was not the fairytale romance I had envisioned. She was stubborn, headstrong, and seemed to take pleasure in challenging my authority."
This woman was unlike anyone I had ever encountered before. She was fiery, independent, and unafraid to speak her mind. From the moment we first met.
My wolf paced before me, his eyes ablaze with intensity. "I like her as our mate," he growled, his voice filled with both excitement and frustration. "The moon goddess blessed us with a special partner."
The idea of a mate chosen by the moon goddess held a powerful allure. It promised a connection unlike any other, a bond woven by the universe itself.
But as my wolf continued, his tone turned angry. "She's better than your girlfriend," he sneered, his voice dripping with disdain. "She pretends to be innocent and caring, but she's fake."
I gritted my teeth, trying to maintain control. "Easy, Wolf," I murmured, my hand gripping the tree beside me.
"She's the real deal, Alpha. Strong. Authentic," the wolf insisted, his eyes ablaze with conviction.
I sighed, feeling the weight of the internal struggle. "It's not that simple. We can't just discard everything."
"She sees through the facade," the wolf countered, his voice low and dangerous. "Your girlfriend is a charade, a mask hiding her true nature."
His accusation stabbed at me, shattering the trust I had in my girlfriend. I had believed in the purity of our love, cherishing her facade of innocence.
Anger welled up within me, fueled by the words of my wolf. How dare he criticize my girlfriend, someone I had cared for deeply? I couldn't help but feel defensive, as if his words threatened to challenge the authenticity of our relationship.
"But you don't understand!" I exclaimed, my voice tinged with frustration. "My girlfriend has always been there for me, showing kindness and compassion. I refuse to believe that it's all just an act."
"Kind? Compassion?" My wolf scoffed, his disbelief palpable. "She's manipulating you. Using your affection to her advantage."
His words cut deep, slicing through the layers of my loyalty and love. Was I truly blind to Sarah's intentions? Was I so desperate for companionship that I overlooked the truth?
"No," I whispered, my voice trembling with uncertainty. "I can't believe that."
My wolf's eyes narrowed, his gaze filled with defiance. "You're blind," he sneered. "Can't you see the cracks in her facade? The way she manipulates situations to her advantage? It's all a game to her, and you're just a pawn."
I clenched my fists, struggling to maintain my composure. "She's not like that!" I snapped back, my voice shaking with both anger and uncertainty. "You're just trying to sow discord and make me doubt the love I have for her."
My wolf's eyes softened slightly, a flicker of understanding crossing his gaze. "I'm not trying to hurt you," he said, his voice gentler this time. "But it's important to see the truth, even if it's painful. Our mate, she's genuine in her actions, and she deserves our trust."
"So, I want to meet her and explain everything so that she could accept us as her mate," he stated, his voice carrying a sense of urgency.
"Didn't you hear what she said?" I questioned, my frustration seeping through the silence. "That girl doesn't believe us, and it would just be a waste of time to talk right now. She would just mock us!"
"It's just because she doesn't believe us that you're giving up? Just do this for me—let me find out if she truly doesn't deserve to be our mate. I'll also try to determine whether your girlfriend is as kind and caring as you claim."
I stopped and thought about what my wolf had said. Was I really giving up just because the girl didn't believe us? Maybe there was a chance for her to prove herself, to show that she deserved to be our mate. And my wolf had a point—I should also take the opportunity to see if my girlfriend was as kind and caring as I claimed.
With a nod, I agreed to give it another shot. I owed it to my wolf and myself to find out the truth. I wanted to see if there was more to the girl than her disbelief, and if my girlfriend truly possessed the qualities I admired.

The morning sun painted the sky with shades of pink and gold as I stood before the house of the bratty girl, a knot of nerves tightening in my stomach. This was it—the moment my wolf and I had decided to face head-on. A hesitant breath escaped my lips as I approached the door.
With each step, my heart echoed the rhythm of uncertainty. I raised my hand, hesitating for a moment before the decisive knock fell on the door. What if she rejected me? What if she laughed in my face? But I couldn't let fear hold me back. I had to try.
The door creaked open, revealing the brat girl, her eyes widening in surprise. "What are you doing here?" She asked, a mix of curiosity and doubt in her voice.
"I need to talk," I replied, my gaze meeting hers. The sincerity in my eyes aimed to convey the importance of our conversation.
She raised an eyebrow, folding her arms defensively. "Talk about what?" She retorted, a defensive stance mirroring the wall around her heart.
I took a deep breath, choosing my words carefully. "About us. About the connection we share. My wolf believes you deserve to know the truth."
A scoff escaped her lips. "Connection? Truth? You're not making any sense."
I sighed, attempting to bridge the gap between her doubt and the importance reality of our bond. "I know it's hard to believe, but there's something between us. A connection that goes beyond what we can see. My wolf feels it, and I believe you deserve to understand."
"Connection? Seriously? You can't just barge into someone's house and claim such things." She scoffed, crossing her arm.
"Celestria, what are you doing there by the door? If there's someone there, let them in first, and it's too hot outside." Her grandma exclaimed, stepping closer to where she stood.
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts. "Actually, ma'am," I began, "I would like to invite Celestria out. There's something important I need to show her, something that will help her understand the thing I said."
Her grandmother raised an eyebrow, her gaze shifting between us. "Invite her out? Well, isn't that a surprise."Owww, Has this girl done something again?" she asked, her voice filled with a mix of worry and curiosity.
I scratched my head, a sheepish grin spreading across my face. "Well, actually, ma'am, I believe there's more to Celestria and me than meets the eye. I know it sounds unbelievable, but there's a bond between us that goes beyond what we can see. It's something I can feel deep in my soul, and I believe Celestria deserves to understand it too."
The girl looked at me, curiosity mingling with doubt in her eyes. "Out where?"
I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts before speaking. "To the clearing by the river. It's a peaceful spot where we can talk without any distractions. I want you to see for yourself the truth in what I've said."
Her grandmother's eyes widened with surprise, her affectionate tone mixing with confusion. "Well, that's a change of pace. Celestria, dear, what do you say?"
She glanced between her grandma and me, uncertainty lingering in her eyes. "I guess... sure, why not? But don't think I'm doing this because I believe you. Let's see what you have to say."
With gratitude in my eyes, I thanked Celestria's grandmother for her trust and assurance. Download Novelah App
