CHAPTER EIGHT

DAMIEN POV
I walked home with a smile on my face, feeling a sense of joy and excitement that I hadn't experienced in a long time. Celestria, agreed to give us a chance as mates. As the alpha of our pack, finding a mate was a significant milestone, and I couldn't be happier that Celestria was willing to be mine.
When I got to our pack, I saw Luna, my girlfriend, waiting for me. I knew I had to talk to her about our relationship now that I had found my true mate. It was a conversation I had been dreading, but I knew it was necessary.
"Hey, Joshua," she said, her voice filled with warmth. "How was your day?"
I couldn't help but feel a pang of guilt as I looked into her eyes. She had been my rock, my support, and now I had to confront her with the truth. My emotions clashed, torn between the happiness I felt about Celestria and the ache in my heart for what it meant for Emily.
I took a deep breath and approached Luna, my nerves getting the best of me. Her eyes showed confusion and concern. "Luna, we need to talk," I said, my voice shaking a little.
Her smile faded, replaced by concern and confusion. "What's wrong, Joshua? You seem different."
I looked down, my words stumbling out. "I met someone, Sarah. Her name is Celestria, and she's my mate."
Luna's eyes widened, and I could see the shock on her face. "Your mate? But what about us?" she asked, her voice filled with sadness.
I reached out to hold her hand, my voice trembling with a mix of sadness and determination. "No, Sarah, it's not that simple. You mean the world to me, and our relationship has been incredible. But as the alpha, finding a mate is a part of my duty and responsibility to the pack."
Her tears spilled over, and her voice cracked with emotion. "But what about us? What about everything we've built together?"
I squeezed her hand gently, fighting back tears of my own. "Sarah, I never wanted to hurt you. Our love has been real, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. But this connection with Celestria is something I can't ignore. It's a bond that goes beyond my control."
Luna's expression turned cold, and she stepped back, as if protecting herself. "I can't believe you would do this to me. After everything we've been through," she said, her voice filled with bitterness.
I reached out to touch her arm, but she pulled away, her eyes filled with anger. "Luna, please try to understand. I never wanted to hurt you. But I have to follow my destiny." I pleaded, my voice filled with desperation.
Luna turned away, her voice barely a whisper. "I don't know if I can ever forgive you for this. You've broken my heart," she said, her voice filled with pain.
As Luna walked away, I felt a heavy weight in my chest. The confrontation had been more intense than I expected, and I couldn't shake off the guilt.
As Luna walked away, a heavy weight settled in my chest, the burden of guilt pressing down upon me like a suffocating fog. The confrontation had been more intense than I could have anticipated, the fallout more devastating than I had imagined.
I stood there, rooted to the spot, my mind awash with regret and remorse. How had things come to this? How had I allowed my pursuit of my own happiness to inflict such suffering upon someone I had cared for so deeply?
At that moment, my mother, Ava, approached me with a concerned expression. Her eyes held a mix of worry and understanding. "My dear, what happened?" she asked, her voice filled with sadness and worried.
I took a deep breath, seeking comfort in my mother's reassuring presence. "Mother, I found my mate," I confessed, my voice filled with a mix of sadness and guilt.
Tears welled up in my mother's eyes as she listened to my words. She reached out and gently held my hand, offering a comforting touch. "Oh, my child," she whispered softly. "I can see how difficult this must be for you."
I nodded, my throat tightening with emotions. "I never wanted to hurt Sarah," I said, my voice trembling. "But I couldn't deny the bond I felt with my mate. It's like a force pulling me towards them."
My Mother's grip on my hand tightened, her love and support evident in her touch. "Sometimes, my dear, we have to make choices that are painful but necessary for our own happiness," she said, her voice filled with wisdom. "It's not easy, but it's important to follow your heart."
I let out a shaky sigh, feeling a sense of relief from my mother's understanding words. "I just hope Sarah can find it in her heart to forgive me someday," I said, tears streaming down my face. "I never meant to break her heart."
Mother pulled me into a comforting embrace, holding me tightly. "Time has a way of healing wounds, my dear," she whispered, her voice filled with hope. "Give Sarah the space she needs, and perhaps one day, she will find it in her heart to understand."
As I clung to my mother, I found comfort in her presence. Her love and support were soothing to my wounded soul. In that moment, I realized that even in the midst of difficult choices and heartbreak, the love of a mother could provide the strength to endure.
***
I woke up to the sunlight streaming through the window, casting a warm glow on my face. It was a new day, a fresh start. Taking a deep breath, I made a silent promise to myself to take small steps towards healing.
I got out of bed and went through my morning routine, trying to focus on the simple tasks at hand. Each action, from brushing my teeth to making breakfast, served as a reminder that life goes on, even in the face of heartbreak.
As I stepped outside, the gentle breeze brushed against my cheeks, offering a sense of calm. Nature seemed to understand my pain, whispering words of comfort through the rustling leaves and chirping birds.
I decided to take a walk, hoping that the rhythm of my footsteps would help clear my mind. With each step, I let go of the memories that weighed me down, allowing them to fade into the distance.
Along the way, I encountered familiar faces - neighbors, friends, and even strangers. Their smiles and greetings reminded me that I was not alone in my journey. The support of others, even in the simplest gestures, gave me strength to keep moving forward.
I reached a park and found a quiet bench under a shady tree. Sitting there, I let my thoughts wander, reflecting on the lessons learned from my past relationship.
Out of nowhere, my mate Celestriaappeared with a mischievous grin. "Hey, Damien How's it going?" she exclaimed, her energy contrasting with my peach of mind.
Surprised, I looked at her and sighed. "It's been a rough day," I confessed, wondering how she knew about the breakup with my girlfriend just yesterday. "How do you know about the breakup?"
A mischievous sparkle flickered in Celestria's eyes as she smirked knowingly. "Your mother called me! And seeing you sitting here, you look like a child who got their lollipop stolen!" she teased, a playful grin spreading across her face.
I couldn't help but laugh at her description. Leave it to my mom to enlist Celestria to check up on me. "Well, I guess that explains it," I said, shaking my head. "Thanks for the concern, though."
She shrugged, plopping down on the bench beside me. "Didn't I tell you I would try to understand this mate thing I've been talking about? So here I am, are you surprised?"
I smiled gratefully at her, feeling a sense of comfort in her presence. Despite her sometimes annoying antics, Celestria always had a way of making people feel better, even on the worst days.
"Yeah, I was really surprised, hmm." I replied, my voice steady.
Celestria leaned in closer, her voice filled with empathy and understanding. "Damien, breakups are tough. They leave us feeling lost and hurt, like a puzzle with missing pieces. But remember, you're not alone in this. You have me" she said, with a wink.
I looked into her eyes, feeling a glimmer of hope spark within me. Maybe, just maybe, I would get through this rough patch with her by my side.
"Thanks, Celestria," I said, managing a small smile. "I appreciate it."
She grinned back at me, her eyes twinkling with mischief once again. "Anytime." she said, giving me a playful wink. "Now, come on. Let's go get some ice cream. I want to eat."
Together, we walked away from the bench, with smiles on our faces.
