CHAPTER SEVEN

CELESTRIA POV
After Damien and his dad left, Mrs. Mordrid turned to me with a serious expression. She wanted me to believe in something that felt like a big joke or a fairytale.
"Dear," she began gently, "I know everything might seem like a joke, nonsense, or a fairytale to you right now. But I want you to give my son a chance to prove that what he's saying is nothing but the truth. Please, open your heart and try to understand the situation before you make a decision."
I moved uncomfortably, unsure how to respond. Mrs. Mordrid continued, her voice soft yet filled with sincerity.
"I know it's hard to believe in things that seem beyond our understanding, but sometimes, life surprises us in ways we never imagined. I'm not asking you to fully embrace it right away, but just be open to hearing him out."
She paused, as if searching for the right words. "People can surprise you, dear. Give him a chance to show you his truth. It might not make sense now, but sometimes, with time and understanding, things become clearer."
Fine, I'll listen," I replied, trying to soundi interested. "But how did it even happen that I'm supposed to be his mate?"
Mrs. Mordrid looked at me, a small smile playing on her lips. "Oh, the mate thing. It's like this idea that two people are meant to be together, like a perfect match. It's like fate or destiny or something."
I scoffed, not buying into the whole idea. "But seriously, how do we even know that we're meant to be together? Did some magic spell or something confirm it?"
Mrs. Mordrid chuckled, seemingly amused by my curiosity. "No magic spells, dear. It's more like a Moon Goddess Blessing. Sometimes, you just feel this strong bond with someone, like you understand each other on a whole different level."
I crossed my arms, feeling a mix of skepticism and annoyance. "So, it's like some cosmic coincidence or something?"
I arched an eyebrow doubtly. "Blessings? Seriously, what, fate just decided that Damien and I are meant to be together?"
She nodded seriously." Exactly. It's hard to explain, even if it seems strange or unbelievable."
As Mrs. Mordrid left the kitchen, I couldn't help but wonder if there was more to this "unique bond" than met the eye. Blessings or not, maybe it was worth digging into this fairytale nonsense to see what it was all about.
***
As I approached my house, I saw my grandma waiting on the porch. Her face lit up when she saw me, and she hurried down the steps to greet me. " Sweetheart, I heard you lost consciousness yesterday and needed to stay overnight at Damien's place. How are you feeling?"
"I'm feeling okay, I guess I was just tired yesterday." If I tell the truth about it, how can I explain that I fainted because Damien suddenly turned into a wolf? I might end up looking crazy.
"Welcome back, my dear," she said, her voice filled with love. "I'm so thankful to Damien and his family for taking care of you. They looked after you so well."
I nodded, feeling a sense of appreciation. "Yes, Grandma. They were so kind and made sure I had a great time. I'm thankful for their care."
Her face softened, and she patted my shoulder. "I'm glad you had a good time. And thank you to Damien for taking care of my granddaughter."
As we entered the cozy kitchen, Grandma called out, "Damien, dear, would you like to join us for breakfast? I want to thank you for looking after my granddaughter."
She turned to him with a warm smile. "Why don't you join us for breakfast? It's the least we can do for looking after Celestria."
Damien hesitated for a moment before nodding appreciatively. "Sure, Mrs. Mordrid. I'd be happy to join you for breakfast."
We all sat around the table, the atmosphere unexpectedly comfortable. Grandma chatted enthusiastically with Damien, asking about his family and sharing stories of her own. It felt weirdly normal, considering the unusual circumstances.
After a hearty meal, Damien and I found a moment alone. I took a deep breath and said, "Damien, I've decided to give this whole mate thing a shot. What do I need to do?"
He looked genuinely surprised and then grinned. "Celestria, it's simple. Just be yourself. Support me, be there for me, and let's navigate this journey together. No pressure, just us figuring things out."
I nodded, relieved. "Okay, I can do that. Just don't expect any cheesy romance novel stuff."
Damien chuckled. "Deal. Just be the amazing person you are, and we'll figure the rest out together."
As breakfast came to an end, Damien excused himself to leave. Just as he was about to step out the door, Grandma, with that sneaky grandma grin, asked, "So, what's the relationship you two have? Two days ago, you had a huge fight in the village, and now he's escorting you and even letting you stay at their house. The events seem to have happened very quickly."
I hesitated, searching for the right words. "Well, Grandma, Damien and I are... figuring things out. He's a good friend of mine, maybe."
I made my way up to my room, seeking solace and a moment to gather my thoughts. The weight of my decision to give Damien's mate a shot lingered in my mind.
Once in the comfort of my room, I picked up my phone and dialed my best friend's number. I needed someone to talk to, someone who would understand and give me a piece of advice.
As the phone rang, my heart raced with anticipation. Finally, my best friend answered, her voice filled with warmth and familiarity.
"Hey, it's me," I said, my voice showing a mix of emotions. "I really need to talk to you about something important."
My best friend sensed the urgency in my tone. "
Oh really ,what's going on? You sound different."
I took a deep breath, trying to find the right words to explain everything that had happened. "You won't believe what happened," I began, recounting the events of the past few days—the fight, meeting Damien, and discovering he's the alpha.
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line, and then my best friend spoke, her voice filled with shock. "Wait, you're the mate of an alpha? Like, werewolf alpha?" Finally, Maya spoke.
"I know, it's insane! I never expected this to happen. It feels like my whole world has been turned upside down."
There was a hint of disbelief in her voice as she struggled to find the right words. "I... I don't even know what to say, honestly. This is a huge deal. How are you feeling about all of this?"
I took a moment to gather my thoughts, trying to find the simplest words to convey the jumble of emotions within me. "It's overwhelming, to say the least. I never imagined myself in this position. It's like stepping into a completely different world."
There was a pause, and then her voice softened with empathy. "I know it feels overwhelming right now, but remember, you're still the same person you were before. Being an Alpha's mate doesn't mean you have to lose yourself. It's about finding a balance between your own identity and the role you're taking on."
Her words struck a chord within me, giving a sense of comfort despite the chaos. "You're right. I need to hold onto who I am, even in this new role. I don't want to lose sight of myself."
She let out a gentle sigh, as if relieved that her words had reached me. "Exactly. You're strong and capable. Trust yourself and trust him. If you chose to be his mate, it means there's something special in him."
A small spark of hope flicker within me, soothing the doubts that had troubledmy mind. "Thank you," I whispered gratefully. "Your support means the world to me. I don't know what I would do without you."
Her laughter softened the tension, adding a touch of lightness to the heavy atmosphere. "Well, lucky for you, I'm not going anywhere. We've been through thick and thin together, and this is just another adventure we'll tackle side by side."
A smile curved my lips as I imagined her comforting presence right beside me. "Having you by my side gives me strength. I'm so grateful to have you as my best friend."
She chuckled warmly, the sound like a balm to my anxious soul. "We've got this, no matter what. And remember, no matter what happens, I'll always be here for you. Lean on me whenever you need to."
By the time we said our goodbyes, I felt a weight lifted off my shoulders. No matter what the future held, I knew I had my best friend by my side, ready to face whatever challenges came our way.
