I groan as I turn around in my bed, the knock on the door interrupting my peaceful sleep. "Hey!!!" I hear Elle's voice through the door. "Aren't you going to go to work? It's already past six o'clock!" She shouts and I abruptly sit up in my bed. I turn around and look at my alarm clock, wondering why it didn't ring or maybe Elle was just messing with me. I looked at it and realized it was already six- thirty. My mouth drops open as I realize that I had slept through my alarm. I normally woke up at five o'clock. But looking at the time now I would surely be late for work. I hope Mr Thornhill doesn't shout at me. I jump out of my bed and go to open the Elle was still knocking on. I open the door to see her resting on the frame, a displeased look on her face. "Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" I ask her. "Well, how I supposed to know that you weren't awake?" She raises her hands up as she shrugs. "Well, you should have at least checked up on me. I don't know why I slept so deeply." I sigh. "I'll be down in a few minutes." I slam the door shut as I rush into the bathroom. I quickly brush my teeth and take my bath. I didn't want to be late on my first day back at work. I rush out of the bathroom and put on the first dress that I see in my closet. I brush my hair and pack my bag as I head downstairs with my phone in my hand. Elle is already seated in the dining room chair her focus on her phone, as she waits for me. I walk in and drop my bag on the table, so that I could drink some water. "I'm sorry, Elle but you're gonna have to go to school without any food because I'm really late. Don't worry, I'll give you extra money." I say and she smiles at me at the sound of getting extra money. "Okay, there's no problem then." She says and stands up to grab her bag. I walk towards her and hand her the money. "Take care at school today, okay?" I say, giving her a tight smile. She grabs her jacket and walks to the door and opens it. "Bye. You also be careful." She waves. "I will." I smile at her and she walks out of the door, slamming it behind her. I sigh as I tidy up the house as much as I can before calling a cab. I sit and wait till gets to the house. If only I had a car, then I wouldn't have to wait for a cab, but I didn't have enough money for that and I had more pressing matters than a car. I sigh when I hear the car's honk, I quickly grab all my stuff and lock the door behind me. I get into the cab, and tell the driver the address of the Cassana Clubhouse. As the cab starts, I decide to call Celine to ask if she was already at work. The phone rings for a while before it finally connects. "Hey, Celine. How are you doing?" I ask her, cheerfully. "I'm fine, babe. How are you? I hope you feel better today, no pains anywhere." She asks back. "I'm fine, Celine, I'm feeling really strong today, but I woke up really late today and I'm still on my way to work. Are you at work already?" I ask her. "Oh, no. I'm not coming in to work today. Sorry, I forgot to tell you. I have somewhere I have to be." She says and I nod. "I was really looking forward to seeing you today, but that's okay." I say with a pout. "I hope there's no problem, though?" "No, Beth. There's no problem. I just have to be there." She assures. "Okay then, I guess I'll see you tomorrow." I smile. "Yeah, see you." She says and the call disconnects. I sigh as I drop my phone in my lap and stare out the window. It seems we were almost at Cassana. The cab stops at the front of Cassana and I pay the driver before I get out, thanking him. There aren't many people at the club as it was still early. I walk towards the door and as I open it, I see Harvey standing behind it, talking to someone I didn't know. "Hey, Harvey. How are you?" I say, to her and she turns away from the person she was talking to and turns to me, surprised and I hug her. "Hi, Beth. Welcome back, it's so nice to see you." She hugs me back. "I hope you enjoyed your leave." She smiles as she pulls away. "Yes, I did. Thanks for asking." I say as I walk past her. "See you inside." I say before opening the door that led to the main club. As I walk in, I look around, feeling happy to be back. As I look around, I spot Halsey upstair, glaring at me and I roll my eyes. I really don't know what her problem is with me. I don't remember doing anything that warrants such hatred from her. I scoff as I glare right back at her before walking further into the room, pushing the thought to the back of my mind. I am about to walk into the back room when I notice a group of men in black suits standing at the corner of the room. Curious, I quietly walk towards them and see Mr Thornhill talking to them. It seems that whatever they are talking about is serious, because the men looked really immersed in the conversation as they watched Mr Thornhill speak and point at different places in the club. Who are they? I frown as I stand there, curious as to what was going on, when Mr Thornhill's eyes caught mine.
