“ So you're saying that you're going back there, after what happened there the last time?....”, Jackie asked me with a soft tone, I can tell that in between those words, she really thinks It's a terrible idea. I just nodded my head agreeing with what she just said, I just gave her a confirmation and now her hands were stuck to her head.
“ I believe that you're beyond expectations Jones, but the last time you were there... You were rude ”. As if I don't know, that's what Uncle Dale might do, or will do, David knew that too, at least he might remember, it's just two to three years ago experience.
“ I'm not going there to apologize Jackie, I'm going there to hide away from that woman and dragging David by the ear....”, “ Please Jones, he's no kid, I know you're just trying to be funny, I can see it on your face but deep down, you look like it's really bothering you ”.
Yeah, she's right, I am just trying to make it look easy, but in within, I am getting myself into something that might have a negative effect on my profile. She was looking at me and wearing a smile on her face, “ Why are you laughing now Jackie, you usually hide yourself away when you smile....”, “ so do you want me to hide my face then?”, she asked. She's getting shy again, guess I can always shush her whenever I want.
Back to business, trying to make her smile is now aside, we are about to do something Uncle Dale wouldn't consider pleasing, though the results might go our way or against, but the main idea might offend him, but I have my reasons.
I never asked Jackie to help me on this, but she gave me a reason why she should do this with me, I have heard that there is something more dangerous than the sword, the pen. She said that we're doing this with a woman who divorced his husband for another Man and took his money too, now she's back from nowhere ruining the man's son, their son actually, but with love rather than discipline.
The truth is, I am confused right now, I don't know how to take on with this, was this really worth calling off my schedule, I am trying to do this for Uncle Dale knowing that at the end, he might not accept the results of all the struggles, my manager thought it's a miserable idea to leave my Life and get involved with this too, even me, I am having the same thoughts, why should I even call of my schedule for this?, But he's my brother, even if it's kind of a lost battle, I should still try, I am gambling with all the stakes against me, I am even betting against myself, but something in me just asked me to try, to pull this off, not that I will gain rewards or anything for it, but I will have peace in my mind and the most of it, deep down within, I still blame myself for his situation despite knowing that I have no control over fate.
Knock knock knock!!!.... I stopped, looked Jackie in the eyes, I can tell she was a bit scared that we are doing something risky, but I have got to do this. I was about to knock again when the door was opened and there he stood before me, the miserable fat David.
Sometimes, even if I wish to hide my true feelings, it's just way impossible, I came here with the thoughts that when I get here, I will give out a smile to whoever opens the door, but with the first sight of him before me, my expression changed, not with anger but with pity.
“ I'm coming in brother.....”, I opened the door and stepped in, followed by Jackie who has that face, are we sure of what we're doing?. I looked around the environment and now it's changing, from sadness to anger and I promised myself to bottle it in.
“ Where's your mom David?....”, I asked, “ Why are you looking for her?....”, he asked me looking down, Oh my God, the worst thing that stings is the fact where he looks down while speaking to me, but if I am to do this, I have to do it right.
I went close to him, my hands placed on his shoulder as he looked up to me, the look on his face is getting tears to my eyes but I am just trying hard to numb it in, “ Did you ever reach out to me?....”, I asked him.
“ I wanted to, but that message on my phone, I wanted to respect your decision and wait until you come and here you are, just like you promised.....”, he smiled, I sniffed in, trying to hide all emotions in, but it's just beyond control as I brought him in and hugged him.
“ I miss you David.... I really did ”, I said to him in between those tears coming down on its own. I know that I was trained like a man, I left everything like love, happiness and peace when I came into Uncle Dale's house, and with his discipline and commanding behavior, I am who I am today, but before we made our way here, I contacted Jack and spoke with him, Jackie giving me his contact.
Jack's words really did something to me, with all the mindset and strength I have built during this past years, Jack's words automatically broke everything down to it's very foundation, everything I have learnt, everything I have come across, all was automatically broken down to pieces and the mysterious part of it was, each word was the truth and hearing those things from him made me came on this mission with hopes of giving a smile to whoever opens the door to me, but unfortunately, I failed that part.
