Julia is all alone at the dark part of their house garden, as she wants to be alone and think on her own. She's still in feeling a bit shocked after seeing Van again. She didn't expect that she will see him at her brother's homecoming party, and that's why she's not mentally, emotionally and physically prepared... "We finally see each other again after so many years, Julia." Julia lets out an audible gasp after hearing that familiar voice again. She wheeled around, and she forces herself to face Van... "What are you doing here?" she asked him, as she tries her best to sound casual. "Why do you sound so cold and indifferent, brat?" Van asked, instead of answering her question. "I'm not a child anymore, so please stop calling me "brat!" Julia reprimanded Van. "Then stop acting like one! You're really acting like a brat right now eventhough many years have passed!" Van retorted. "Hah! Look who's talking! Aren't you an immature one as well? Who in their right mind would get their girlfriend pregnant, and elope with her without telling your family and her family, and breaking an innocent girl's heart?" Julia angrily said it all in one breath. Van's angry facial expression suddenly disappeared, and he gently stares at Julia's face. "You're still hurt about what happened eight years ago." it was more of a statement from Van. Julia averted her eyes away from Van's gaze. She became overly emotional, that's why she accidentally dug up the past. Van gently touches her face to look at her straight in the eye... "This is the perfect time for you to know the truth, Julia. I don't care if your brother beats me up again. I can't hide the secret from you any longer..." "What does my brother have to do with this?" Julia curiously inquired, as her eyebrows met in a curious frown. Van took a deep breath first as if he's suffering from an intense pain. After a few seconds, he concentrated on her again. "Your brother is just thinking about your welfare, sweetheart. He wanted to protect you at any cost so we were forced to tell that lie." he started. "A lie? What do you mean?" Julia's getting more and more nervous. "Few years ago, I tried my damn hardest to treat you like my little sister. But I sometimes couldn't hide my real feelings for you. Instead of talking about other girls, I ended talking about you a lot, and James finally noticed it. He confronted me about my feelings for you..." Van started explaining things that happened few years ago. Julia stared back at Van in utter shock. She can't believe that Van feels the same way that she did many years ago! "I thought you didn't feel the same way like I do!" she shockingly blurted out. "If you could only see and feel the torture that I have to endure every time I see you in our special class when you were a high school freshman. I wanted to tell you how I really feel." Van finally confessed. "I was totally clueless." Julia painfully admitted. "Well, I really did my best on hiding my feelings for you. When James confronted me, I finally confessed my feelings about you, and he gave me a punch straight to my face. He said that I should stop this craziness and I should forget about my feelings for you because he said that you're still a baby. And I can't really blame him. He's just doing his best to protect his sister." Van continued retelling the past. "That idiot brother of mine!" Julia muttered under her breath. "In the end, James tried to tell me that you are too young to fall in love and be in a romantic relationship. He said that maybe it's not real love, and maybe it was just infatuation on my part..." Van spoke again. "So that's why you both decided to study in the Metropolitan City so that you can stay away from me?" Julia finally realizes everything. "That's right. It's part of our plan." Van firmly confirmed. "Plan? What plan?" Julia asks, in a curious manner. "The plan of staying away from you and to completely forget my feelings about you. James told me before that whenever he comes back home during vacation breaks and holiday vacations, he can clearly see that you've been waiting for me. That's why your brother desperately thought of another plan." Van explains again. "And that plan was..." Julia's voice faltered, as she remembered the time wherein her brother told her something that made her feel really hurt. "By telling you that I have a "girlfriend" and I got her pregnant, and I eloped with her." Van grimly stated. Julia's mind instantly went to the past, at the time of her high school graduation. (*Flashback*) "---I don't know how to tell you this, Julia. But there's no reason for you to wait for Van anymore. He told me he got his girlfriend pregnant so that's why he decided to elope with her. We also have no communication with each other since he ran away..." Her brother's words echoed clearly in the back of her mind. Years have already passed, and she still can't believe that her brother and David fooled her like this! David tries to hug her to comfort her, but she steps away from him. "Don't you dare touch me!" Julia was trying her best to control her anger. "I am truly sorry, Julia." Van sincerely apologizes to her. "After all these years of being emotionally hurt, do you think a simple "sorry" is enough? You got to do better than that, Van!" And before Van could speak again, Julia immediately runs away from him. At the same time, Van just watched her go, with so much sadness. He inhaled a gulpful of air as he feels like his chest is hurting. Tears also started to fall from his eyes... "I am so sorry for hurting you, Julia." he whispered. ================================= The sun is starting to light up the whole sky, but Julia is still wide awake. She can't stop herself from crying, as she finally heard the truth straight from Van's mouth. After her conversation with him, she decided to go back to the house and lock herself inside her room. She still can't believe on how her brother lied to her for eight years... She was living like a zombie during those times. How can Van and her brother torture her like this? She snaps out from her reverie when she heard someone knocking at the door. "Julia, can we talk? Please?" it was her brother, James, knocking on her door. Julia groaned in frustration, but she still doesn't want to open the door. "Julia, if you don't open the door, I'll break it myself. And I'm not kidding. Stop acting like a spoiled brat!" her older brother warned her. "Oh, please, stop calling me brat! I've had enough of it!" Julia shot back at him. She knows that her idiot brother will break the door open, so she doesn't have any choice but to let James in. "What do you want?" she curtly asked her stupid brother. "Okay. I'm guilty as charged, sis. I only did what I think was right." James started talking. "And that's by lying for eight years?" Julia asked, in a sarcastic tone. "It's because you were so into him and I'm afraid you'll get hurt in the end! And besides, you were so young to be inlove! You were like a baby!" James defensively stated. How dare you try to control everything! And because of your genius plan, I carried all the pain for the passed few years!" Julia retorted back. "I'm sorry for what happened, brat. When I saw you cry the day I told you that lie, I want to take it back. You were deeply hurt. I was afraid that you might hurt yourself but you held yourself firmly. And now that you've become mature and wiser, I can't help but to be proud of the woman you have become, Julia." James finally said what was on his mind, and he feels damn proud of his younger sister. Julia wiped her tears, as she can't stay angry with her big brother. "Well, I can't stay mad with you for too long, James. I can understand why you did that as a brother, but you have to realize that you're being too protective." she lets out a little smile. "I know, I know... I've been one hell of a brother, didn't I?" James said, in a sheepish manner. "You definitely are! That's why you have to let go of the reins a little bit." Julia nodded in return. "That's why I'm willing to compensate for everything, brat. I want you to choose what will make you happy. Don't think about me, our parents, or other people. You can decide whatever you want to do, and I promise, I won't interfere with your life again." James smilingly enunciated, while holding his younger sister's hands. "I will. Thank you, James." Julia nodded in approval. "Am I forgiven now, Julia?" James gently asks her. "Of course! But don't do it again, okay?" Julia cajoled. "I promise." They gave each other a big bear hug, then afterwards, they've decided to prepare breakfast themselves...
